I may be crazy, but im leaving Florida (only 30 minutes from the beach) after 30 years to move in the Casper area. Im excited and scared about the winters. It will be an adventure. Ive never seen snow before!
My husband I used to live in Casper. We then moved to St. Augustine, Florida for nine years. We just had to come back to Wyoming, only now we live in Buffalo, Wyoming. We absolutely love Wyoming and we hope you do too!!! Welcome to Wyoming 😊

@@luvslogistics1725 that was one of my biggest concerns. My wife loves the beach and actually used to own a house like 3 blocks from the beach. We decided that we wanted to experience something new and start a new chapter of our lives. i grew up here. Ive always thought that Florida was kind of "ugly". Its flat, palmettos, swampy and humid. Of course the coastlines are gorgeous. We want to see and play in snow, hike the mountains, hunt the plains, learn to flyfish, and start our family there. Thank you!

We have been in West Texas for the better part of 60 years, and we have seen some crazy Winter storms, but not many ongoing days with snow. Ours usually amounts to ice, then snow, then thaw, then ice for a few days. So, this is very much appreciated as far as Wintertime must-haves! Thank you so much!
I know it is March but Winter seems like it just started so here we go!
I have seen it snow July 4th in Wyoming. Winters go on forever so you better like the cold. You need waterproof mittens and face masks. If the wind is howling goggles. It's no joke out here. Someone a few years ago who should have known better was hunting and his jacket wasn't warm enough or waterproof and he died of hypothermia in September.
You have more praise out there I believe. If you don't have too many trees near your power lines,your outages should be few. Trees cause more outages than anything else. It's rarely an equipment failure that causes it. That's what I do for a living
Another very well done video and although some people may think what is needed is obvious, it is great to have an experienced persons checklist. No excuse for forgetting anything.

Looking to leave Alaska after 35 years. Going to load snowblower drive south. When someone either laughs or ask what's that thing do I'm going to start looking looking for real-estate
in Sheridan it's pretty nice in the winter. at least compared to the rest of Wyoming.

Not as bad as Minnesota that’s for sure. We get well below zero and stay there sometimes for weeks. My brother and sister in law, who by the way was born and raised in Sheridan, came back for a visit in February a couple of years ago. She was surprised at how cold it was and how it never got above 5° the whole time. Would love to retire in Wyoming but can’t afford to buy. Oh well, I’ll just dream. 😊
I have lived in Rochester, Syracuse, the Twin Cities and Casper, WY. Of all of these, Casper by far has the easiest winters. It is relatively mild, and it does not snow that often. Most days, the roads are good. After a storm, the roads close for a couple of days, then back to normal. Alisha Collins does not know about real winter driving, (every day).

@@garygetty1238 That’s what the brother says too except where he lives, in Sheridan, I guess it’s not as windy. My niece, his daughter, lives outside Rapid City and says the same thing about the wind. Still would love to live there no matter what the weather. Everyone has some weather or something that sucks. 😁
Cody has the best of the worst as far as winters go in Wyoming. The annual average is only 48 inches of snow with 300 average days of sunshine. You have Yellowstone an hour away and the the dry basin to enjoy all around you.
North Dakota absolutely has the harshest winters in the lower 48

You Do NOT want a fireplace...you NEED a good Large cast iron kitchen stove...with TEN cords of wood for the winter.... Thats what they do in Rural Maine which is often down to Zero and eight feet of snow for weeks at a time... It occasionally warms up enough to snow!!!

I have a question? We're moving up from Louisiana and down here we let the water run when it snows, I am assuming it just gets to cold there to do that? I think you said clear your pipes and stuff? Which I get you don't want them to burst, but did I hear that right?
Best thing to do to keep the pipes from freezing (in most cases; the extra-cold states might need something additional) is to keep the cupboards open, the thermostat at 70°F (no lower than 65), and let faucets drip warm water at a steady clip. Stuff towels at the bottoms of your doors and on windowsills as a cheap option to keep draft out.
A lot of times residents'll get stingy with their electricity for heating, and their pipes burst. Best to sweat a little more in summer than freeze to death in winter.
We are thinking about leaving coastal NC and moving to either casper or one of the towns near casper.

I don't see how winters in Wyoming are survivable. I only drove through there.

Winter in Wyoming is long ,cold and brutal,that's why they have a low population
Could be. I would to say i get use to it, but I do now tolerate it. I love the rest of the year
Same here in Sitka Alaska, population around 8300 but during summer (2 months) we get double, triple and sometimes 5x that😮😮😮😮
