One of Lufthansa's best moves to have this beauty painted in this classic livery. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful 747-8's to grace the skies. Thanks for sharing this video - great filming :-)
So majestic, when comparing a B-747-8I nimbleness to the bulkiness of the A-380-800. She, the 747, is still the 'Queen Of The Skies'. It's amazing, how you've returned to your old haunts for spotting just outside the fence at O'hare. Everything is the same except as before, with the exception of the camera work with the 2160-P resolution. Even the ripped up plastic grocery bags caught up in the razor wire over the top of the chainlink fence is the same as before.
Timothy M Thanks for watching! It’s been 5 years. Some things have changed but other things have not. A full length feature is in the works from this location as I have once again been granted permission to spot here for now. Stayed tuned for the return of the planespotter.
Wow, incredible video! The 74 is a beautiful machine!!! Thank you for letting us watch along with you! All the best from the west coast of Florida USA!!!
Agreed! Only the most beautiful airplanes get their own video on my channel and am very proud to give Yankee Tango a moment in the spotlight here. Thanks 4 watch!ng
Yes , she is very special in this livery, and you Jay have captured perfectly.Hopefully Inflight 200 or JC Wings will release her in 1/200 Scale. Gemini released her a few yrs back , and they are very hard to find , and going for absurd amounts on Ebay!
Thanks 4 watch!ng yes, indeed. I remember when that one was released. I don't have this one in my model collection but I do have a Lufthansa 747-8 and I have seen a filmed this one many times so I don't think the collection is lacking.
Nice, I'll be looking for it at ORD in the next few days, weeks. I got to go up on Lufthansa's A350 when it was parked at Terminal 5 last summer. I can actually stand up inside the avionics equipment bay under the flight deck and fwd galley. The flight deck is is a masterpiece of simplicity and intuition, in my opinion, easier to understand and use than Boeing. Thanks for the video!
Jerry O'Neil Nice! In my MSP days I myself have explored “below deck” under the flightdeck on the Hawaiian A330s when they did maintenance on them. More spacious on those Airbus than many would give credit for. And yes, lately I find myself loving Airbus a lot more than Boeing. Hopefully Boeing one day returns to a place I can feel proud of them again, but until then....
Lufthansa should go back to doing their entire fleet like this. Their new livery sucks, it makes them look like FedEx. In fact, most liveries suck these days, when compared to the typical 70’s & 80’s aircraft color schemes.
I actually don't mind the new Lufty livery (and I really like the new blue)...BUT it just doesn't come close to the old livery. It was just so classic and perfect, IMO. :)
I'm all for more regional and national flavor and less generic look-alikes when it comes to airline paint... at first the new blue for Lufty was too dark and uninteresting but it looks like they have lightened it up a bit and it looks better now.
I just miss cheatlines, and more areas of the fuselage with color. The classic logos were fantastic, and I LOVE the black noses/radomes; they just add a certain character to the aircraft. I don’t know, I guess I’m just old school. The BEST liveries of ALL TIME, were the 'United' Saul Bass "Rainbow Tulip" (not really a rainbow though, just Orange, Red, & Blue) and PSA’s Oranges & Pinkish with the smile on the front. I grew up in CA, so I flew on 'PSA' 727’s and their BAE jets. I live in Atlanta now, where everything is 'Delta'. That’s another 'Best...', 'Delta Airlines' classic “Widget” livery, with the black nose which blends up and becomes the cheatlines. 'Eastern' had a fantastic livery too, with the pretty blues. I just LOVE that old stuff! ...And some of the planes too, let’s not forget.
Which makes us happy that our flag carrier Philippine Airlines kept the livery designed by Landor in the 1980s (a contemporary to the old British Airways livery, the one with the crown on its tail).
