    I have recently been enjoying your vids and on this one noticed your jacket. I'm just a bear, a "good ol" bear too!

    That is very cool to get out in the community like that. Fun times to meet up with like minded guys that carry the same passion.

      It is becoming my new "thing." Should be fun and interesting... and some folks will get free labor! LOL! I cannot vouch for the quality of the labor, but it will be free.

    Signing out from the swamp. But the shelter will be high-&-dry.

      I guess there were like 30,000 of these made... standardization seems to be coordinating by the lowest bidder from year to year. I do find it very fascinating, though.

    The rear brake drums from Bendix did you happen to see a part number ?

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  4 года назад +1

      No, Sir. I didn’t see any numbers on it. Not even a makers mark. We assumed they were Bendix. If Mike Moffitt sees this, he might know how to find them. If I find out anything, I’ll let you know.

    in the bed there was a snatch block. Is that what they sent with the winch?

    • @HelicoolsHelipad

      Yes, I believe that snatch block is common equipment on this Marine Corps version M1079 LMTV.

    I don't know what kind of witchcraft you guys use, but every bolt on my MTV is torqued to eleventy-trillion foot pounds and requires a 6ft cheater bar.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  4 года назад +1

      For the one bolt and nut, we used a huge wrench, with a 2' box steel cheater tube and a 3 1/2' straight crow bar... if it were any tighter, there would have been diamonds made.

    I just found you on RUclips and really enjoy your videos! We are looking for an LMTV and are learning about the vehicle as best we can, thank you for helping us on our journey. Is there any advise you care to share while we are in the searching phase of our adventure? Thank you

      Welcome to the channel! Advice? Are you a mechanic or a more like me? LOL!!! If you want a pain free start, buy through a source that certifies the vehicle up to mil specs. If you go through Martin in Portland, OR., and mention I sent you, you get 5% off the price. Also, join the LMTV MTV Military Trucks FB group... a wealth of knowledge and helpful folks! Lastly, keep in touch. I can also help when I’m able. 😁
