I am an old guy who doesn't even own a cell phone so as you can guess mapping is my greatest challenge. With this said,I have figured most of it out using an iPad and loving this mower. If you cut wet grass the build-up under the deck is very bad and you will have to clean it out. Don't do it. Other than this my Luba performed as well as in Justin's video. Hopefully, Mammotion will program the ability to cut logos/ letters inside the zones. The football season is nearing and I need one on my lawn.

    • @JustinsProject

Hell yeah!!! Logo cutting would put this over the top! I guess if we get creative enoungh we can map it out manually. First, I gotta focus on getting the grass to grow 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

With the Luba, after three tries to map out my yard and getting stuck in the same place due to low sat signal, I just picked up the luba and moved it about 4 linear feet and set it down. It got signal and finished mapping. It pretty much thinks there is a straight line from where it was to where you moved it to, so it will work in corners.

You are absolutely correct that if the "antenna" has a clear shot of the sky then it will have no issue connecting to the Luba. Here is the "but". If the Luba does not have a clear enough line of sight to the antenna then it will not be able to operate. Would that be a correct assumption? EDIT HERE!!! I was wrong as you see in the reply from hawkins.

    • @JustinsProject

This is incorrect... the mower and the RTK antenna do not need to have a line of sight at all. They simply need to see enough of the same satellites to triangulate.

My Luba 5000 returns to the charger when it starts to rain. It then stays there until the rain stops and then it resumes. I usually cancel the mow until I know the grass is dry. It only takes about 20 mins for wet grass to cake the entire deck full. It'll still mow, but it's hard on the mower with the extra friction.

Good stuff. I guess I helped locate a flaw i. The sensors, when set to #2 sensitivity. If it starts to downpour during a RTH, then it may find itself stuck doing circles in the yard. The Mammotion tech team is looking into getting that resolved. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

I love my Luba! I bought it during the Kickstarter campaign (think I was #230 something). I've had it for many months and it works great!!
I have a 0.5 acre lot with 6 zones. I have Luba scheduled to mow all zones twice a week at night and haven't had ANY problems.
That being said I love in central Texas with very few leaves that fall in my yard and not a whole lot of rain.
Only issues: software needs to be better in many ways - mostly, better UI. But, also, some added functionality.
Regarding connectivity - users with really large lots MAY have issues with the RTK signal reaching the MOWER. I didn't have issues. But, my lot is only a half acre. That being did Luba miss just fine on the opposite side of my house and my house has a metal roof.
The RTK did come with an extended/really long cord and can be mounted on a house or taller pole if needed.
Regarding the OP's comments about the lights - as if two software updates ago - the Luba's lights can be turned off in the app.

My suggestion for the company is to let it switch to an odometry/SLAM mode much like a Roomba or a NEATO vacuum runs. Once fine sync is achieved switch back instead of just halting in in its tracks.

Gr8 Real World Review on this expensive little Autonomous Mower ! I Would LUV to see a Camo option on the Luba Body, I believe it would pick up in Sales if they did that !
At 6:45 in you raise what may be among the most common questions concerning the Luba's performance. The Short Answer is explained on pg's 16-17, Paragraph 2.6 of the User Manual. In particular, pg 17 under "Factor 1".
It's basically saying that BOTH GPS Antennas, the RTK Reference antenna AND the GPS Receiver Antenna in the Lubba Mower itself, must have a "Clear Sky" line of sight w/ the GNSS Satellites. If you've positioned & fixed the Ref Antenna as per the instructions then it's the Antenna on the Luba itself that moves near objects that interfere w/ GPS signals.
GPS Signals are notoriously Weak The GNSS Satellite System consists of ALL the U.S. GPS Satellites, all the Russian GPS Sat's, the Chinese and European system. Thats a LOT of GPS Satellites and the RTK Ref Antenna & Mower only need 20 Satellites to continue mowing. So what could be the problem w/ all these Satellites to choose from ?
So since GPS Satellite Signals are so weak , the signals are Easily effected by Structures, Rock/Dirt walls, Fences, Big R/V's, Decking, Power Lines and the worst offender is the Atmosphere itself. That's why any "Line of Sight" GPS Satellites below 45 degrees at Any direction on the horizon are Useless.
So, within that 90 degree "cone" of clear sky above the Ref Antenna there are never more than 31 usable Satellites available at any given time. BOTH Antennas, the RTK Ref Antenna AND the Luba's Antenna/Receiver, Must see the Same 20 Satellites just to operate at its lowest accuracy of 15cm (6 inches) and Both need the same 29+ satellite signals to mow at the highest accuracy of 5cm (2 inches).
And finally, the RTK Ref Antenna Does communicate w/ the Luba, @ 900Mhz, thru that little Black antenna hanging off the underside of the RTK Antenna body. RTK (Real time Kinematics) means the Fixed Base Ref Antenna (which has the most accurate GPS reference signals) communicates and helps correct, in real time, the movements of the GPSS Receiver on the Luba Mower. They work together to fine tune the Mowers exact location. The Range of the 900Mhz signal is 120 meters (394 ft). However, that signal is weakened by structures, especially metal structures, and will weaken to a range of 80 meters (262 ft) or less by metal siding or fences. See pg 18, Factor 3, Solution 1 of the UM for info on this.
For those considering buying a Luba, as of early January 2024 the remaining stock of the Original 3 Luba models are being sold off at near Black Friday discounts by Amazon & Mammotion because, Mammotion has announced "Pre-Sales" on the Luba 2 models. The Robot Engineers @ Mammotion have tackled these GPS Signal dropouts in a Big Way by adding a 2 Lens Navigation Camera to the upper deck. This "Stereo" vision uses it's Depth Perception abilities to continue mowing when the GPS Sat signals drop below the Minimum. They also added a SIM card to the Control Board that enables communication w/ your App on your Cell Phone even when the Luba is out of WiFi range.
Alexa & Google Home can now be used to give commands to Luba and you can outline Lettering or Symbols or Logo's in your lawn now. Just upload what outline or Lettering you want mowed, (actually, mowed Around), into the App. The communication range from the RTK Ref Antenna & the Mower has been boosted from 120 meters to 5,000 meters (3 miles now). There's Many other improvements you can read up on at the Mammotion website.

@@JustinsProject I've watched as many Luba Reviews as I could find on YT, over 20 of them, because I wanted to take advantage of the upcoming "Black Friday" sales in 2023 that most "big ticket item" Retailers compete in for American Dollars. I decided to go w/ that Jungle website because of their extended Return policies and the option to buy an aftermarket Extended Warranty. They were selling at $300 to $500 below retail for the BF event and I ordered a Model 3000 last November which showed up 3 days later.
I was still in snow when January rolled around and so I hadn't even opened the box because I couldn't do any mowing anyways, and then I got a e-mail from Mammotion announcing "Pre-sales" on the Luba 2. My Return policy was good until Feb 1st and I couldn't sent that Original Luba back fast enough. The Jungle site return policy Worked and I was refunded, except for $12.50 in freight, within a weeks time.
So I'm sittin here lookin forward to the end of February, the estimated ship date given by Mammotion, so I can give this Mower a run for the money. My lawn surrounds the house on a 1/3rd acre lot and I've got some pretty tall Cedar Trees lining one side of the property, meaning the RTK Antenna will need to locate where I have no electricity. The Luba 2 is supposed to have a Solar Panel option to power the RTK but it's not been offered for sale as of early Feb.
Anyways, your Review was among the Best out there so far on the original Luba. Mammotion had sent their Original Luba model 5000 to nearly Half of these YT Reviewers and many of those who were given a Mammotion didn't give a very comprehensible or thorough review imho. Send Mammotion an e-mail and let them know you're an "influencer" on the YT platform and that people like your work, ya never know, it may pay off, especially now that they've released a 10,000 square meter capable model (2.5 acres). That's You ! 👍 👍
Thx for the reply ! 😊

My Luba had issues with glass doors causing interference with it’s sensors by the charging station. He would lose his mind, all sense of direction until I relocated the charging station away from the glass. If you have issues with Luba getting lost on the return to charger, make sure the charging station isn’t near windows or glass doors. The glass may also cause issues with the RTK mapping interference 🤷‍♂️. Try mapping that corner with the window covered up and let us know.
My rain sensors activate in the middle of mowing to send Luba home. Maybe yours weren’t working?

My question is, can a 3 or 4 acre yard be split into 4 or 5 zones (lets use 5 for now) and essentially mow each of the 5 zones per week, as long as each zone is less than an acre (or 1.25 acre) and all zones have a connection/gsp reception. Or does this mower not allow more than 1.5 acres total within 1 or 10 zones? Thanks

Sometimes, downpours pop out of nowhere around here. That is something Luba didn't pick up on. Something not in the forecast. Something that needs a fix. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

@@JustinsProject You're misunderstanding how that feature works. Other owners have demostranted this by just tossing a bucket of water on it and it return home. Leaving the switch on doesn't mean it won't mow if there is rain in the forecast. It means when it gets wet or the sensors detect moisture it returns home.

It's not relevant now, because the models now are only shipped with omni wheels, and not with those beefy wheels like on your model.
And the omni wheels SUCK at mowing sideways slopes (they lose traction).

I'm not sure if the omni wheels will last that long. Can still get beefy wheels shipped if ordered on Amazon. I'd love to do a side beside, though. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

Mentioning IPX6 Waterprofness makes this video weak to me. All Luba Owners are pretty sure that this is not IPX6 as Mammotion itself forbids to clean it from the Downside, as well as no high Pressure is allowed. Even I wouldn’t clean it with water, this Product is clearly not IPX6

@@user-su4me5cy9x I guess the Maverick will be back in commission on the front lawn 🤣I have to test the claim of IPX6. Although, I am looking for what the technical definition of high pressure is. Where does that start and end in terms of PSI? I gave it a mowing in a massive rain test. I knew I was missing something. Zapping those electronics with a power washer would have been great LOL

The Luba didn't work for me, as soon as you have corners and edges in the garden it's over. Since it is a Chinese company, you have no right of return and will not get your money refunded! 😠

If a person is so lazy they cant cut the grass then by a townhome or live somewhere that yard care in included.

You might consider that the person might not be lazy.
      1) Their yard might be very large and take a lot of time to mow and they might want to do something else with that time-like spend that time with their kids and/or other family.
      2) a person might be disabled and using a robot mower for their yard might be less expensive than hiring lawn care to do the whole job.
      3) maybe, they have a job that requires a lot of hours and/or travel.
Your response was one dimensional. There are many people in the world with many different reasons to do things.
