Thanks for all the contributions you make to helping new worm hobbyists get going. I really enjoy your videos; they are always clear, concise, enjoyable, and empowering. After watching you do something, I really believe that I can do it myself, whatever it is, and in many cases I have. I have really enjoyed being able to use so much of our household waste toward such a positive goal. Combined with indoor, largely odor and pest-free, manageable conversion of our food waste and junk mail to excellent worm bedding (see the excellent #RockinWorms channel), your simple worm "ranching" techniques are manageable even in a small retirement duplex setting by a disabled, aging person like myself. I hope to share it with many of our neighbors and have a real impact on our community. It's a win/win/win: empowering elders, reducing municipal waste, and improving our existing accessible raised bed gardens. Triple thumbs up!
I am spending so much time watching Captain Matt's professionally delivered content. What a rabbit (worm) hole to be down. Thanks for the free plans. Will definitely be giving that a go. Jude will be a worm farming millionaire when he is older, too. Cheers.
Captain, you and your team are angels for sharing what you do and how you do it. And now, you your helping us out to make money. That’s truly a blessing for many of your viewers.
Great sifter Captain Matt 👍👍 I do have a suggestion you may or may not want to toy with. The suggestion would be to take the wheels off the sifter with the 1/4" screen. Then put it directly on top of the frame with the 1/8" screen and lock them together with 1" furring strips at the four centers. The furring strips would be attached to the 1/4" frame and hang down about 1" which would allow it to lock on top of the 1/8" frame. With that being done the bedding and worms would get added to the top frame with the 1/4" screen. The when the sifting is done the large worms and what does not fall through the 1/4" can get flipped into a tote/tray, then under the light or into another tub. The cocoons, small worms and undigested material smaller than a 1/4" but larger than an 1/8" would be on the bottom screen and can get flipped into a different tote/tray/tub. The castings would fall through into the mortar tray/tub. Speaking about safety for not cutting or poking the fingers with the wire, especially with the 1/8" screen. Menards or equivalent box stores sell carpet runners by the foot. They are a type of rubber about 1/16" thick. The runners without the nobs on the bottom are the one to get. Cut them just like a picture frame and staple on top of the border of the 1/8" screen. I am happy that you are sharing the plans for making your sifting machine, I think it will have a great reaction 👍👍 Enjoy worms and have a great Day!
I've been rasing worms for 10 years and selling worms for 5 years. My style has evolved over time but I am now having more orders than my system and processes can handle. Just found your channel and watched a bunch of videos and have learnt so much and inspired. Thanks for all your tips. I now feel like begginer, and I am only starting out with worms!
You are very motivating and so kind to give such amazing things to the worm community. I'm wondering if you could send a link for the black bins you use? Thanks so much and I'm hoping to grow a little more every year and maybe one day I'll be able to sell!
Captain Matt. You restore my faith in the fundamental goodwill of people engaged in their tasks and their communities. By the way I'm 76 still going strong timber framing and processing firewood and I hear you about the thinning of our old guy's skin. My arms look like a road map with all the new scars I've acquired over the past few years. But thankfully I heal as fast as I cut. I wish you and yours all the best in your wonderful work and the example you set for us old boomers. I can't thank you enough! I'll have a manual screener built ASAP.

Hello Captain Matt. I love your worm sifter plans and I am so greatful for you sharing them with us. I had an idea I'd like to share. I'm going to add a single strip of masking/painters tape over my hardware cloth along the edge where the castors glide over the lip of the wood so my bedding/castings don't fall onto the track. This should aid in preventing baby worms and cocoon deaths from being ran over. Aside from this, your plans are fantastic, and much appreciated! Thank you.
Love the sifter… in the uk we can’t get the exact same things as you. But I think we will take the design and make something similar. As atm I’m doing it by hand in my hands and it’s back breaking work. Lol I know I’m new to this and only been d keeping worms for 6 months but I live em. I wanna set up a breakers bin today if I can so I can get them going and get some breaders separately from my farm. I think I’ll just start with a small amout as not got big tubs and want them to bread but if I try to follow what you do in 2 weeks they will have laid lids for me to harvest and go again. Then I can start a nursery for the babies.
Thanks Captain Matt! I am going to have to try this. Just sifted out a bin BY HAND and it took me a bit. I have the same mortar tubs you have and just made 2 from 1! Most of my bins have quite small worms. I feel like maybe they dei young. I always have millions of tiny worms and every now and then loads of big ones bit I can't work out why I don't have big know all the time
I made this and use it ALL THE TIME (sans wheels and it slides just fantastic ) but the worms fall through the 1/4 screen and the cocoons through the 1/8… and I make a huuuuge mess. 😅 Love it though!!!
Just a observation for an old man. The construction of the sift would be easier to build if everything was made of 1x stock. The frame would be lighter for those who have some years on the bones.

That material sounds awesome! It's so cool to see you giving out stuff for free to the community like that, that is a common theme in open source software. Thanks for everything you do Captain Matt!!
Can I purchase that sifter? and how much? I am from San Diego. Thank you.
What size are your tubs?
Lowe's, look for "mixing tubs"
Thank you Captain Matt😊
I've been subscribed to your channel for a while and I can't get notifications for your channel. RUclips won't allow it why is this and can you change it thanks great videos.
Hmmm… Ron. Not sure - other people seem to not have a problem with notifications… not sure what’s up.
I went to my local landfill got some 75 leaves 25 pinestraw. How can i compost it
I made a sifter like this with a 8 mesh, ca 1/10th inch masks, and I still get alot of cocoons thru. What am I doing wrong?
Great video! Generous man! Thanks!!
I love Captain Matt!
Thanks for the encouragement, Wade!
My favorite Worm Farmer ❤️🤗
Can’t get plans without signing in for some reason🤔
Yes… just go ahead and register - should be quick and easy
Most of my bins have quite small worms. I feel like maybe they dei young. I always have millions of tiny worms and every now and then loads of big ones bit I can't work out why I don't have big know all the time
We are worm people and that is what worm people do! Love it!

Thank you for sharing
I made one yesterday. Sifted some worms with the 1/8 screen. Still getting some cocoons going though.
You are a blessing
Thanks for the encouragement, Kathy.
That is a really nice sifter. 😎
Very cool! Thanks
thank you so much!
Thank you 🙏
Great video
I made this and use it ALL THE TIME (sans wheels and it slides just fantastic ) but the worms fall through the 1/4 screen and the cocoons through the 1/8… and I make a huuuuge mess. 😅
Love it though!!!
I have lymes disease it has made me unable to work ft. Moving to Missouri in 3 weeks starting a worm farm
What part of MO
I just downloaded your plans and will make it this weekend.
Looking forward to seeing it, Michael! Would love to see pics over in the WP Forum discuss.wormpeople.com/space/541284483
@@CaptainMattsWorms i sure will
Just a observation for an old man. The construction of the sift would be easier to build if everything was made of 1x stock. The frame would be lighter for those who have some years on the bones.
Thanks, TL… gotta find the balance. First version was thinner and needed more body, but 2x would have been too much… tried to find the middle.
👏🙌🙌👏🙌🙏Thanks Captain Matt!
Rest work!!!
Great work!!!
do you sell worms?
❤👍nice!!
how much money are you making at this scale
