    Hi Matthias,
    with most cameras including the GH5 you should have the option to output to 1080p regarding your recording resolution.
    I had a quick online search and found this in the GH5s manual:
    Down-convert the size/frame rate when the motion picture size is set to [4K] or [C4K] in
    [Rec Quality].
    I can speak for all Canon EOS stills and Cinema cameras that this option is there.
    Hope this might solve your issue.
    I might have a go at this monitor too.

      Thank you Nicolai. I didn't think of this option because I never had to use it before. But I'll definitely look into it. Thanks again for the tip. 🙏🏻👍🏻

    This was a very helpful review. I love the compact size and low price of the product, but I would have hoped that any monitor could be at least a little "future-proofed" against upcoming specs. The two things I would want to see would include 1) the ability to down convert a wider-range of HDMI signals internally to the display's resolution, and 2) the ability to display HDR output using the BT.2020 or PQ color space. I can easily imagine in a few years having cameras recording in 6K or 8K, and also 4K 120p or 4K 240p, and I wouldn't want to have to buy a new monitor every time I get a new camera. Hopefully Weefine can upgrade the chips to down-convert from a higher range of inputs on the next version of the product. I would also be curious how many cameras will let you manually drop the resolution on the HDMI input to something lower than what you're recording on the memory card, the way some other people have asked earlier - I spent some time looking, and it was hard to find a definitive answer, although it looks possible for at least some cameras. I got the chance to try shooting with a housed Ninja earlier this month, and having some sort of monitor is really critical to getting the framing right - the small display on the back of the camera wasn't enough for me...

      @MatthiasLebo  2 года назад

      I couldn't agree more mate. I would never shoot without a monitor anymore. And regarding the number of cameras that can output a lower resolution through the HDMI than what they're recording internally I can't really give you a precise answer but it does look that some cameras are able to do this. For these cameras I can see this monitor being really useful.

      Hi Bob, I shoot with the canon R5 and I have no problems shooting 4K@60fps, 4k@120fps or 8k RAW. With some cameras you just have to set the HDMI output setting to 1080 and you are good to go. Other cameras (such as the R5 can detect this automatically). Cheers

    Well done vid. I noticed you had the monitor attached to a cross bar on what that is attached to what looks like a nauticam housing. Where would I source such a cross bar. It looks like a very good feature for mounting the monitor.

    • @MatthiasLebo
      @MatthiasLebo  11 месяцев назад

      The cross bar was a tailor made solution from my preferred underwater camera store here in Switzerland. Unfortunately they don’t ship anything outside of Switzerland.

    Thanks for the review. I was hoping to see a review of that equipment which is certainly super compact and cheap in comparison to most available and costly solutions on the market. I was wondering what are your thoughts about the provided underwater HDMI cable. I haven't seen this monitor in real life but the HDMI cable looks super thin and fragile in comparison to the ones from Nauticam for example (which are for some of them quite fragile). I would hesitate to go on a trip without a spare cable. Regarding the resolution limitation, it's a bit surprising as I think on the GH5 you can set your HDMI rec output to downconvert your 4K60ips image to 4K30 or 4K50 to 4K25. The weefine manual states it supports 3840x2160/30P. For C4K, it's however limited to 25 or 24 ips, so maybe a framerate to 50ips instead of 60 would be a compromise (and a more european approach even no one no longer cares about electrical frequencies ;-) )

    • @MatthiasLebo
      @MatthiasLebo  2 года назад

      Thanks for you input mate. Yes, the HDMI cable is rather thin compared to the Nauticam cables, so I do think it would be reasonable to take a spare cable with you on a trip. Regarding the frame rate restrictions, I think you're right and other users said the same. I'll give it a try next time I use the monitor. 😉

    No mentions on it's weight underwater that is the most important parametrr for a video rig

    Hello Mathias. Awesome Video. I am thinking about getting the Monitor for the Zcam. But...if I record like 4k 100fps the Monitor will turn Black??? And will not show a Frame???

    • @MatthiasLebo
      @MatthiasLebo  2 года назад +1

      That’s what I experienced when trying it with higher frame rates with my GH5S. Bit if you can change the setting so that the HDMI outputs a FullHD signal while you’re recording internally in 4K, it should work just fine.

      @@phonorarmedia2864 Hi, I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing the WED-7 Pro monitor, assuming that the Zcam can downgrade the video output over hdmi so that the Weefine monitor works. You mention that you got the weefine monitor to work with the Zcam at high framerates in 4k? And what did you mean with picture accuracy, colour, lagging?

    Hi Matthias,
    If you try to down-convert the HDMI output resolution of your camera while using this monitor, please, share the result with us (specially if you try it with a Panasonic Lumix GH5/GH5S/GH6 😅). I'm thinking about to buy this monitor for use it with a GH6, but I'd appreciate if you could give us that kind of feedback.
    Thank you so much and apologize for such a specific request. 😇

    Hi Matthias, from where did you get the multi-base handle tray, and did you have to use/replace it with longer screws to fit it on the Nauticam handle arrangement/setup? Thx.

    • @MatthiasLebo
      @MatthiasLebo  Год назад +1

      I got it tailer made from a camera store nearby Zurich. Unfortunately they won't ship outside of Switzerland due to tax issues. But I think Nauticam has something similar that you should be able to find on their website.
      And no, I didn't use any longer screws for this setup. The original ones worked just fine.

    Hi Mattias! When filming in 60fps, couldn't you just configure your camera to output 1080p over the HDMI out while recording at 4k internally? The product specifications seem to suggest the WED-7 Pro can accept 720p60fps and 1080p60fps signals -- it's only when accepting 4k resolution signals that it's limited to 24 or 30fps.

    Hello Mathias thank you so much for this review! I had a question as I just bought this monitor but it is rendering itself useless for me due to a problem i cannot seem to fix. I have a 1DX mk2 and when I AF the screen lights up and I am able to see the subject on the monitor. However, moments after once AF is engaged the screen dims and I can no longer see anything on the monitor. Is this a setting or an issue you have run into? THank you!

      I guess this is a question everyone has to answer for themselves. For me personally, I prefer being able to record in 4K 60 and carry a little more bulk with me. But that's also because I already have the Ninja V setup. I you don't have any monitor at the moment, your choice might be different.

    • @MatthiasLebo

      Yes you can still record 4K 60 on the SD Card, but the monitor won't be able to receive that signal through the HDMI port, so it will just stay black.
