They say they’ve restored power, but all that means is they marked it on the map as “energized.” We’ve been “energized” for two days now, but still don’t have power. It’s just gaslighting at this point.

And I'm from the Caribbean and we have a better planning system than this (depending on which island). This is wild and for them to say by Sunday they will have 80% of customers back online is even Wilder. The only way to get them to budge is if everyone sues them. One massive lawsuit by the 2 nearly 3 millions that have been without power, including the ones who have died by trees, heat and drowning. Seems to be the way of how America or Texas work, not forgetting guns seems to be a big talk here more than common sense.

Come see Kingwood in NE Harris County! Almost every street you drive down has a tree through at least one house, some with many homes in this state on a short block. Theres still power lines fown everywhere, including in my backyard. Us residents have pulled together helping and taking care of one another, but theres been no outside help at all. Its now 6 days without power, no answer as to when it'll be restored, and few utility trucks have been seen in the last 2 days. Even if you can find a generator, you have to wait for the plugs to be delivered from amazon sometime next week.
No disaster declaration, no fema, no red cross, no county workers, no acknowledgment from literally anywhere, nothing! But they continue to raise property taxes.

Apparently we haven't been taking care of the infrastructure and we don't have enough people or equipment to get the clean up and restoration done quickly. By taking care of the infrastructure, I mean with the bad spring storms we had, they may have used up all the extra grid parts they had in storage before hurricane season even got here, and with the economy bad, they didn't refill their stock of parts, maybe. I don't know that, but it's likely. We need more people in the workforce, but so many young people just don't want to get out there and work, they wanna stay home on their phones and game consoles all day. So we get what we got.
Also could be that it's a very populated but sprawled out area, and there's just a huge amount of territory to cover in getting everything fixed. Please, don't be angry at the men who are working to get things restored. They're doing their best and they actually showed up to do the job. Be angry at guys in suits in air conditioned offices who didn't take care of things ahead of time, and guys who just want to sit at home and not work.

This is ridiculous! I've barely seen/heard our local channels mention it.
We all know! Texans are everywhere when it was reported just 2 days ago over 2 million people were still without power.
Our politicians tout precious oil now we can't ignore how fundamental alternative energy is. Which BTW didn't we just vote for there to be a separate position on the board to make sure everything is WEATHERIZED for our power grid to be functioning??
Is our Governor still overseas concerned about international trade agreements? (Despite his 'born in TX made in TX' jargon).
How about our Senator off Cruising again while AGAIN in yet ANOTHER EXTREME weather disaster for Texans.

Cities that are in the line of continual tropical storms should bury (and waterproof) their power lines. It is only a given that power lines will get damaged storm after storm! My power was out for only a day (owl shorted the wires) and that was awful. I can't imagine not having power for a week. Also, if possible, in hot areas like this Underground homes would be ideal. The temperature ranges between 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Any hills or mountains in Houston (or the South as far as that matters) underground homes would be a great business to start!!

Power immediately the wires need repair and get this done because the longer the power outage happens will be more cost added to what will be requested for damage in a lawsuit.

imagine people are living in the houses where brick is just an exterior. it is not structure. imagine houses in texas built the proper way where walls is the house structure and whenever trees are going down, - at least walls gonna stop it from going all the way down to the bedroom.

It's going to take until the end of July - at the earliest for power to be restored to those who haven't gotten it by July 19th (which is most of these areas in the north that bore the brunt of the hurricane's path with uprooted trees and fallen poles) - it is a major job.

Of course the power is going to be out after a hurricane, for a few days in some areas. That's to be expected in a place where we have big trees. But I'm sure it's really hard on people in full summer heat. Y'all, please look after the elderly and anyone particularly sensitive to heat.
I pray they get the mess of trees, poles, and downed wires cleaned up and y'all's power resorted really soon! It feels wonderful to be cool again, finally, after the power has been out for days. Makes you not take ac for granted anymore, at least for a while.
