one question so i am buying my second tank to transfer my fish into but i want to cycle the tank for about 2 or 3 weeks before adding the fish. is it possible for me to add the quick start good bacteria and allow my tank to cycle with that inside or is that pointless. because i am only cycling for a few weeks i thought adding the good bacteria would help the fact i am only doing it for a few weeks but does adding the bacteria defeat the purpose of me cycling it for a few weeks. also great video love it
Hi! I’m getting dalmation mollies in a week or two. I have a 36 gallon tank and it’s been cycling through for a few weeks now. Do you have any advice? This is my first fish tank and I want to do it right.
I have a pond in my backyard with no fish in it but has been inoculating with good bacteria for almost 2 months and now I'm setting up a tank in the house should I use tap water or my pond water? I'm not sure of the ph of the pond. And I have pebbles in my pond should I just use those rocks that already have bacteria on them? Maybe use rocks but do half and half tap water and pond water?
Hi I’m a beginner, I have a used fish tank given to me that was kept in storage. It has gravel in it already and water stains on the glass. How and what do I use to clean the tank before setting it up? Thanks in advance❤
@@boxman7929 Haven't gotten an aquarium yet (binging videos to try and learn as much as I can before diving in (hehehe)), but I really don't understand that. Dog/cat: get some toys, clean their pee/poop, feed/water them, go for walks depending on the dog. Fish: cycle out their water, feed, clean the tank, keep an eye on temperature, manage the nitrogen cycle, etc. Managing their entire environment feels like much more work than "Did you feed the cat today?"
Because fish costs lots of money and people like for them to live for 10-20 years or even more. You’d be surprised how long fish can live when properly taken care of. Some can even live 50+ years.
I just got my tank 2 days ago and it's been decades since I had one. One of the fish groups I'm in in FB had recommended watching your video and I'm glad they did, you explain it so easy! One question- when your adding clean water to an ongoing tank, do you treat the water in a separate tank first and then put it in with the fish, or do you add the clean water with the fish and then add the chemicals afterward?
You can treat the water in say a 5 gallon bucket then add it to the tank or dose enough conditioner for the whole tank volume and add the water right to the tank
Sorry guys but I need an answer ASAP, do I set up the heater and pump in the water before I put the conditioner in?? Thanks for the video it is super useful
Hey I have a question I hope you can get to it soon. How soon do you have to have fish water ready for fish because I was going to get it a tank today and get the fish tomorrow. Is that too soon? And the bacteria spray you showed, do you just spray it in the tank?
@@theannanavarro6040 I’m just gonna ignore the last part but I think in some areas you can, some you can’t . Mostly has to do with chloramines and chlorine.

Do you still need a heater if you live in a place that gets hot? I live in Southern California and am wondering if I need one since it gets super hot here and winter is nonexistent.
Yes forsure. The temperature outside doesn’t mean the temperature inside your fish tank is the same. The tropical weather outside will definitely help with keeping your aquarium temp stay constant though? I live in a place where it’s 0 degrees outside right now lol. But in the summer time it can hit 90’s
Two things: one - don't use colored gravel, who knows what chemicals were used in that paint and whether or not they can leach in the water. Second - start with hardy live plants, they will in overall increase the healthiness of the aquarium, and will look much better.
Your opinion... I think overplanted tanks are ugly and good quality (not Walmart crap) artificial plants look much better. Also too alot of species of fish will either eat or dig up live plants... And also people have used "painted" substrate for years and works perfectly fine. If anything I would have criticized the fact he just hangs that heater at the very top of the tank and failed too mention ypu NEVER want to run a heater dry, that heater needs to be much lower so when the water stsrts to evaporate the top of it won't be above the water line.
