TZand I'm pretty sure most would disagree with that statement. There were a few who considered Easyhoon the second best during spring, but no one did that during summer. And I'm pretty sure that almost no one ever considered Easyhoon being better than Faker. For example I'm pretty sure Monte considered Coco being the second best mid, in Korea. Also calling Pawn a season 4 great seems like a stretch.
Then how come Faker got to play as soon as it started to look grim for SKT? Also the fact that Faker just legit played more games than Easyhoon. And the thing they kept repeating in this video was how Easyhoon was better on Azir, compared to Faker. Easyhoon played two games of Azir, during spring, and none during the regular season. Pawn was legit the fourth best player on his team and SSW did everything they could for him to succeed. They legit gave him last pick almost every game. I still think Pawn was really good, in season 4, but no way he was the best. Faker was still a god, but with a mediocre team. Dade was making a claim as the best player in the world. Froggen absolutely dominated Europe. Ggoong were brilliant for parts, mostly during the assasin's meta. Rookie also had a fairly strong end to the season. I'm not saying all of these were better than Pawn, but he was "just" a good midlaner on a great team. I agree with him being the best performing mid at worlds. But I think you would agree that someone like Dade played worse, than expected. Dade legit played in three OGN finals. He finished second with Ozone, in winter. He then took SSB, who finished third in NLB with Pawn, and won OGN spring. I know for a fact that Monte had Dade as his player of the year. I didn't really look into your split by split ranking. Just wanted to say that I would consider Rookie for this split. It felt like it took a pretty long time for Xiaohu to ramp up. Also i think Bdd has been just great, he does so much with so little. Faker is still doing great, but SKT outside him and Bang have been struggling.
Bdd while definitely top tier at this point , it's hard to say if he is better than faker because SKT , except for faker, had been underperforming summer 2017 and it made it a lot harder for Faker to carry. It's a lot easier, especially for a mid laner, to shine when they have a brilliant team surrounding them, bdd and king zone basically, and to perform well constantly, never falling behind the enemy mid laner despite your teams lack of performance in the game, faker. In other words, especially if your comparing KDA alone , BDD will obviously come on top summer 2017 and spring 2018, because he is at playing with the best team in the world at the moment , which makes it much easier for him to perform at a higher level when his team is playing around him well or he can play around their carrying. If it helps anyhow, Faker is atm #1 spot challenger in the LCK, which alone shows he's still the best around
Faker! I don’t see why some people hate this guy. Over his career, he’s not always the best, but he has proven again and again why he is the greatest League player. Debuted and won Worlds 2013, missed 2014, lost at MSI 2015, came back won Worlds 2015, got his revenge and won MSI 2016, won Worlds 2016, played like a beast at LCK Spring Split 2017 and won MSI 2017 again. Struggled LCK summer split, came back like a monster carried his team through LCK play-offs (3 best of 5) finish 2nd place. At Worlds 2017, while Huni, Peanut, Bang, Wolf couldn’t perform, Faker once again being the only consistent player and brought his team to the 3rd final in a row. He might not be the best player recently, but he is the GOAT.
I would agree with you fasha, but i think faker has just a greater mastery of the mechanics of the game, which in itself is a level of skill when combined with his knowledge
Actually it says the opposite. I am pretty sure talent is what made faker the better player, not hard work. You have to remember that a lot of players work very hard, there are probably some players who work even harder than Faker but they don't make it that far because they don't have as much talent as faker. Talent + hardwork beats just hardwork
idunno why everytime i see faker disappointed or down or if he dies on the game, i feel so bad and it gives me so much impact. i've cried several times just because he loses a match :< there was also this video i watched on youtube about faker's sacrifices for his teammates, it really made me cry like crazyyyyy i just can't describe how great of an impact he is to my life rn
how unfair it was if you guys look at easyhoon number's in 2014-2015 it was way better than faker's stats, but easyhoon had no support from the fans, after playing the 2nd game of the 2015 semi-final and having carried both games, when he left the stage he heard the crowd screaming faker faker faker. The last one on stage to lift the trophy, I'm sorry for the mix of feelings he felt at that moment, having led the team to victory and feeling like he doesn't belong there. Easyhoon and Tom led that winning team
Faker is God but you gotta feel bad for easyhoon; imagine being in his shoes, when you're leaving the stage the crowd shouts for faker to take the spot instead of you.
Actually from what I've heard. SKT used to sub Faker not because he sometimes struggles, but because SKT sometimes want to try different playstyles and gameplans they'd like to develop for them to adapt.
I just had to remind everyone how clueless we all are when Azir was released...just like how the inSec play of Lee Sin was discovered and widely used years after he released..plus the fact that they always disable Azir back then due to bugs (literally every patch there after has a bugfix for Azir)...
Easyhoon was like a rival for faker. He kept practicing and growing, I feel like he doesn't have the same motivation as he had back when he was trying to get his spot as the starting mid laner.
I think this is a bit of a mischaracterization, they didn’t just bench Faker because easyhoon was seen to be more proficient on control mages. This entire era was one where SKT would intentionally put in their subs from the beginning until they lost, after their first lose they would put back in the starting lineup to “save” the series. I don’t think Kkoma thought easyhoon was “better” I think it was part of their subbing strategy and easyhoon deserved to get some playtime in making that year one where Faker didn’t play as many games as fans might have hoped for.
Faker will go down as the most memorable person in LOL community all over the world, possibly at any time just like other athletes. His prime is definitely gone and has shown some really minor mistakes over and over past season in LCK.
I think why everyone screamed the name „faker“ and not easymoon or what his name is, is because faker never gave up on his azir. It didnt matter if he was bad or nah he still played azir he didnt care about the opinion others thats why i like this guy
Good video, shows how hard it is to master a champion even the greatest makes stupid plays, shows Faker is not a god, he is just grinding the hardest. GOAT!
I honestly think MariHoon was the best era for SKT by far. Marin was a BEAST top lane and had INCREDIBLY good TP awareness aswell. And Easyhoon was undisputably the BEST Azir out there (Faker fans, fight me!) and there is no denying that. It's a sad fact that both left, but such is life.
Lol no. The only reason why they played Easyhoon was because Faker was not needed and not because Faker was bad. Faker was insane and they substituted him when they lost a match with Easyhoon. Sort of like a final boss. I mean he was still considered the best mid laner in the world while easyhoon was like 4th or fifth in the league. And no Marin wasn't a beast. He became "beast" only in worlds playing broken top laners. He was considered slightly above average player but a good shotcaller during regular splits. Their bot lane was the one carrying the team and was expected to especially with Easyhoon. MariHoon was good but MariFaker was playing Master Yi mid and styling on opponents good.
I never said or stated that Easyhoon was the "best midlaner" if you read my comment again, carefully this time and line for line, word for word, you will see that I stated, and still stand by that statement, that Easyhoon was the superior Azir player. And Azir being as good as he was back then, was when they played Easyhoon and not Faker. Most likely any team would rather have Easyhoon behind the keyboard and mouse if it was Azir that was being played, over Faker when this era was a thing. Nowadays, obviously not so much, since Faker has practiced his Azir countless hours whilst Easyhoon went into CN and probably just stagnated at best, if not just got down right worse at League.
at the time of worlds 2015 , Easyhoon was definitely a better Azir than faker, but 2016 Faker control dmg Mages, Ryze and Azir specifically was absolutely insane ( spring to be more specific). 2016 Faker's azir was definitely better than Easyhoon's. He racked up an 80% win rate with it out of 150 something games towards the end of the season. Easyhoon was definitely better azir player 2015, but i highly disagree 2016 Faker. He had much better playmaking on it than Easyhoon ever did, Lane control and team fighting. There was a reason why his azir at the end of worlds 2016 was seen as insane and why he quite literally became known for his ridiculous performance on the champion
I know its narrative and drama, but Faker was "playing bad during worlds" only for the general public and caster's narrative. During the LCK that season indeed, but come worlds, any1 who really likes analyzing knew he was playing amazing - and much better then easy, just had to check the numbers. He had a worst kda and thats what the general public would look at b4 a match cuz its the only stats the caster shows. But Faker was 1st in gold difference at 10 and 15, like way above 2nd place. He was outclassing every1 as Ryze whereas literally not one other mid laner had the courage or skills to pick the champ, he was instalocking it and stomping every lane.
I Think they took easyhoon because every team was just counterpicking faker or just trying to make him out of game with multiple 3man ganks etc, he was allways getting focused in teamfights or did engages. Any1 Who ever played this game should know how it feels to get focused all day long.
The fact that kKoma as a coah pulled this of and sold it to faker... was the greatest coaching job ever... Just imagine a Western Icon getting even benched for a game or 2 in the LCS... that dude would just leave ASAP...
you guys have to do a video on the SPL (smite pro league) it's not super huge or popular but there are PLENTY of interesting stories regarding HiRez and multiple personalities both good and juicily bad
This is already solidified. Evenif he retired last year, it would still be. Being the GOAT is about consistency and winning. No other player comes literally anywhere close to him on those aspects.
As a SKT and Faker's fans since S3, i rly thinnk that EasyHoon was really btr than faker during s5 tho. Feelsbad that he could only lives under Faker's shadow
There are things faker could do that jihoon couldn't and there are things where jihoon could do things that faker couldn't and that's okay I LOVE THEM BOTH
I feel sorry for easyhoon, he mastered Azir in less time than Faker, but he didn't got the recognization he deserves (guess because he didn't practice it when it just came out and he learned how to use by watching other players play it).
Not true, Easyhoon relied on Control AP mid laners , a completely different playstyle to Faker's high aggro play making Mid laners. The problem wasn't Faker mastering Azir, it was learning to play a different style of game. Higher wave control, Farming, Hanging back and Dealing out cc dmg slowly and a lot more etc. Azir , 2015-2016, was quite literally the ultimate Control Mage mid laner. In terms of skill, if you can master him, you've got the playstyle needed for a top tier control mage Mid. That wasn't explained clearly in the video at all. In reality, to master a champion to a great degree, especially for High elo players where Positioning, roaming and Wave control is what seperates them mostly, it takes like 50-60 games of constant playing them ? It wasn't the problem of Mastering Azir, he got that down probably really quickly, it was learning to differ from his usual playstyle which mean changing his entire style of play.
I really liked how you guys mentioned Easyhoon's strengths, people tend to forget he wasnt a slouch. Faker is the goat tho
TZand I'm pretty sure most would disagree with that statement. There were a few who considered Easyhoon the second best during spring, but no one did that during summer. And I'm pretty sure that almost no one ever considered Easyhoon being better than Faker.

lol bdd was the mvp and arguably better than faker in summer 2017 but faker was better at worlds

Commenting 5 years later, just after having seen Faker's performance on Azir in Worlds 2023: he has come a long way.
How the turn tables

The reason why faker is playing kinda subpar rn because he's focusing most of his time building bridges.

This vid feels more like 'Fakers evolution playing Azir'
You have to feel bad for easyhoon he was fantastic but I mean if you have to be benched for someone, at least it was the best player ever
Ashton Stansel true
Best player ever i think they were very much equal .. faker was just crowd lover thats all he is god but easy was too same lvl feel vad for him
Im not good at english:X
I would agree with you fasha, but i think faker has just a greater mastery of the mechanics of the game, which in itself is a level of skill when combined with his knowledge
Fasha Gaming fr it sucks that he ended up on that shit team known vici, deserved better
Watching this now in summer 2019, Faker's Azir is 9-0 in LCK, it feels so unreal to see how he struggled with this champion at first.
I mean faker is good but if he went against someone like me he would still win.
Hahahahahahaha
I'd lose faster
true
Venker Kim One glance from faker in the match and i ded

This goes to show that no matter how talented you are, being lazy wont get u anywhere and hardwork speaks the loudest
Actually it says the opposite. I am pretty sure talent is what made faker the better player, not hard work. Even Faker made embarassing plays before he really mastered azir lmao
Amen of course he is human like us
flying turtle wat if he thought that he could have

Im better on azir
Can't help but feel sorry for easyhoon
Joshua C. Ikr as much as I love faker I still feel sad for easyhoon since he was such a good player.
Joshua C. He’s well known in the lpl, but he’s team VG, is always trash and either goes to relegation or comes last place. Feels bad
Easyhoon still got the azir skin tho as a reminder of who was the boss in 2k15
Jedi S.H But he wasn’t the boss lol. Faker still outperformed Easyhoon throughout the whole season.
ZxChrono Kappa?
He just wants to retire and build bridges.
DaviKatsu MashiNom hahahaahhaha brilliant mate a true stream watcher:))))

Look at Faker's Azir now 💪
This was an awesome video with great narrative. Keep producing!
Throughout the entire video, i kept trying to see the words "Virtua Fighter" on the arcade in the background
i am in the future and we all know who's the best azir now
I personally love the host for these videos, keep it up!
i think he does a great job too but sometimes can be a bit annoying

from worst azir to best azir, faker took that bench time personal
everyone still remembers Faker's Azir in game 3 in Worlds 2023 semifinals and game 1 in LCK summer 2024 finals
And now Faker's Ryze, Azir and Cassiopeia are the best in the world, and almost all the mid siege champs, but he lacks a bit on Taliyah

The build up was nice but it just ended ‘he is good now’
2:50 his face tho
dude faker is so great that some challenger streamers lower their rank to grandmaster just to play with him in soloque
Faker is a pro gamer in lol but he is a legend that will take the league
Bro that thresh is too good
i guess if this was an Anime it would be like Kuroko and Kagami
There are things faker could do that jihoon couldn't and there are things where jihoon could do things that faker couldn't and that's okay I LOVE THEM BOTH
Even the greatest of men grow old.
2:50 satanic chants
8:46 reptilian speak
This would be an amazing concept for an anime 0_0
0:55 *HIGHLIGHTS*
Damn that was a shit yasuo there
No need to exaggerate its a mundane result.
Looks like history is repeating itself.
Nagne's azir was good too.
well he got benched now, feels bad man
Pobelter's Azir is really good too... For me, the best.
NA Challenger is only Korean Bronze you know
And now hes grinding out Braum and Taric
And now...after so much time...Faker wins a korean title without dropping a single game as Azir
