      you have to disconnect both rear upper control arms to get enough clearance to remove the CV from the diff cup, then do the 6 inner CV joint m10 Triple square bolts, tap the CV off, then there's a 6mm allen inside the cup that you have to unbolt, then the cup will slide out and you can replace your diff seals, that's not your humming issue tho, the humming is a wheel bearing in the rear, extremely common on these cars...

      AUDIRS4 hey man, my name is Chris, check out the next video - "I'm Stumped - Day in the Life of a B5 S4 owner". That's the next video in series to this one

    man thats loud. make sure your flange is not loose that will cause the seal to fail. you could have an issue with the drive shaft carrier bearing also. If you can get it up on a lift and have someone get it up to speed you will be able to tell 100% where its coming from.

    My seals were leaking and replaced them about a year ago, not too difficult to replace. But that sounds like a wheel bearing which I also had to replace on my b5 S4. Great videos!

    My s4 is slowly starting to leak with 145k on it from the same exact spot haha definitely look forward to the video!

    Gonna want to get a set of triple squares and allen/torx sockets for that job. Can't remember on the rears but the fronts are a triple square which you WILL strip if you try using torx on them. You also shouldn't have to pull the halfshaft out it's just a flange that mates to the diff. Good luck with job and I look forward to the vid

    Wheel bearings make a similar noise. They are not hard to change they are press in but it's not too bad. If that's your rear end making that loud noise I don't know if you can save it by adding fluid.

    Its been said many times but yea deff not tires. I started watching the later videos when you got the tune. I thought to myself some sort of bearings somewhere is bad. What ever happened with this? Any updates? All I see are mustang videos. Sorry if I missed it. I recently got to drive a tuned 500hp b5...never liked Audi's, have owned 8 vw's. Man I was blown away.....instantly addicted haha.

      Scratch that just watched the S4 vs mk6 video! Nice looking mk6. I've done a ton of work to my brothers mk6 gti. It's very fast! As you said it's hard to compare the 2, because they're so different...both are in good in different ways. At the end of the day I would say the mk6 is an easier car to own. Is it better than the S4? No. Is the S4 better, I think so. The sound of that engine...mhmmm. but again...hard to say. Cool videos, I'll catch up on the older ones. Subbed, thanks!

    You should keep your finger crossed. Leaking diff and delay the fix is just asking for trouble...

    Not sure????!!! Dude it's not the tires lol... Clearly sounds like dry gear noise. I only listened to it for two seconds and had to stop it literally hurt my 01 allroad just being within a few hundred yards of it

    There is a really nice Audi s4 near me for sale for 4,000 with 130000 miles on it. Would it be a good first car??

    • @jameslaraia
      @jameslaraia 6 лет назад

      Bryant Lavallee have it looked at first. If there's an Audi dealership near you they'll do a used car inspection and tell you what's up. Depending on the level of repair it needs or will need, you'll likely spend double 4k after it's all said and done. I bought my 01 with 140k and I'll spend about 4-6k more to get it where Its completely mechanically sound. That's even with me doing a lot of the work myself. These are great cars, and very reliable of properly repaired and maintained. Depending on what the used car inspection says, talk them down on price or steer clear of a potential nightmare. Unless you're looking for a project of course. Happy hunting!

      Good luck to you it's only a good first car if you can afford to bring it to a shop to fix it or if you do it yourself. At 140000 it's probably original clutch and turbos. You start beating this car and you're going to have some huge bills even just for parts. I know this was like a year ago how did you make out?

    Hi buddy where do you order parts from???

    • @andyreed4960
      @andyreed4960 6 лет назад +2

      AUDIRS4 I'd assume the usual suspects, ecs or 034

      europaparts.com, fcpeuro.com has lifetime warranty on parts,blauparts.com, ecstunning can be a bit overpriced.
