    The thing I learned about Monti via this series is that he is a GENUINELY FANTASTIC HUMAN BEING. I’m embarrassed to admit that I piled on with everyone else back in the day. I never even considered the possibility that an elite-level athlete might just be a pure, good, wholesome, overly trusting soul. F#ck me for being a piece of sh*t…and thank Manti for being such a remarkable person.

    Manti was absolutely gutted by the media at the time. They laughed at him. They mocked him. The media actually BLAMED him. My friend is an assistant athletic director at ND, and Te’o was said to be the sweetest guy. What a shame.

    A genuine narcissistic sociopath derailed a generational linebacker. Looking back on it now getting Manti Te'o side of the story you can really feel for him.

  • @g.y.u3649
    @g.y.u3649 2 года назад +16

    There was a disconnect with Ronaiah. Ronaiah is a deranged individual who, even when unfairly given this platform by Netflix, she chooses to still act like a complete self-absorbed “yeah-I-was-wrong-but (insert petty excuse)” sociopath. Even at some point daring to show her disappointment in the fact that Manti released all the creepy voicemails (s)he left him in a perfect female voice, to try and prove for his benefit that the hoax was too elaborate for him to realize this was catfish (nor did the poor guy even know this term existed or that someone would be so deranged to concoct such lies for such a long time. I didn't like the disclaimer at the beginning about Ronaiah being trans as if that excuses everything. The Trans Card is now the new Card Du Jour. Now is that if you SAY you are “trans”, anything and everything is forgivable and completely understandable. That does NOT excuse how (s)he ruined Manti's career, caused him considerable humiliation to the point where he had to seek therapy. And Ronaiah? She walks away, scott free, no regret or shame for her actions. She almost acts like she's the Star of the Show, thanks to Netflix trying to make us feel sorry for her. Trans or not, she is despicable.

    • @alb5801
      @alb5801 2 года назад +1

      I agree (s)he is despicable but I didn’t see Netflix as making her a victim. There were two main people involved in this scandal, Manti Teo and Ronaiah so they had to get input from both parties. In a documentary specifically the people involved are telling their side of the story from their point of view so that was Ronaiah’s point of view wherever she was interviewed in the doc. (S)he absolutely gets to tell the story from her perspective as does Manti Teo. It’s was clear to see who was the perpetrator and who was the victim unless you can’t decipher unbiased information presented directly from the source(s).

    And then you guys ending this video with the end clip of Manti's wishes toward Ronaiah, made it more impactful. I think this is the first time someone has finally shared the full end clip. Usually they end it before Manti's wishes.

    This was a pure joy to watch and I love your honesty. I'm so proud of Manti Te'o. I'm not into sports and didn't know anything about him/this until today, when I heard the All In LDS Living Podcast with Manti Te'o. It was a beautiful story and made me want to know more (the podcast didn't go into any detail about what happened, so I searched online to learn a little more). I agree 100% that Manti is a great role model, and the kind of person we would want a son to model. Beautiful stories often have a sad or tragic or unfair component, but Te'o shows us that in the end, love doesn't fail (or in biblical terms: "charity never faileth"). Way to go Te'o... and Hurrah for Israel!
