What do you guys think? Is this Tennant's best episode?
    If not what is?

      @doerrferr Год назад +1

      ABSOLUTELY!
im probably too enthusiastic about this episode, but midnight, along with capaldi's confession dial episode are definitely some of the best episodes of dr who.

Nah I found this to be too freaky for me to actively enjoy, but I really liked the family of blood. The end speech was really cool.

To me it’s incredible how midnight is made as a cheep episode that could be made without a monster or companion and is still one of the best episodes of TV ever

I must confess to an abiding love, for the next episode. One of the darkest in Who. 'Turn Left' is chilling. A doctor-lite, to follow the companion-lite previous one.

I really like the companion-lite episode being just before the doctor-lite episode
Shows how both Tennant and Tate are strong enough to hold an episode on their own and absolutely smash it!

@@RamblingManYT Absolutely agree! Catherine Tate knocks it out the park, for all those who saw her as just a comedian. Well... We all know David is an incredible actor, charismatic, funny, empathetic, the whole package.

The Doctor Who: Confidentail for this one was really fascinating. Bringing the audio to the fore. The mystery of the creature is palpable, and intriguing a recurring idea in 'Listen', allowing our imaginations to fill in the terrible details. We also have the same fears working on us in the God Complex, though ultimately the creature is shown.

Ahh yes I was hoping you would say Midnight, I absolutely adore this one.
Also, I always loved the shots of Lesley in the corner, with the intense stare, unison and eerie lighting. Really brilliant.

I remember I didn't see this exactly on time, I had to be at Guides and so saw it after my family, but this always stuck with me. I also love, besides how terrifying it is, how people would realistically react if the Doctor walked in and nobody knew his name and acted like he was better and cleverer than everyone else. His usual curiosity and intelligence and pep and need to step in for everything looks far more suspicious to people, especially in a panic. That's pretty much the main reason the entity leaps from Sky to him, because it's easy to throw it on to a new much maligned target.

@@RamblingManYT the phenomenal writing, acting and the simplicity of it. the way it's "just" a bottle/ filler episode but imo one of the greatest episodes of Dr who and it shows so much about the doctor as a character. it's the first time we see him Genuinely terrified and completely out of control and it's in a situation that's completely new to him as well?
The concept of the creature and the fact that it's invisible and almost showing the humans and their mob mentality and fear of unknown as the true monster.
the way a normally fidgety, always talking, moving, expressing doctor is completely unable to move, speak, fight for
himself AND forced to egg on the others to kill him. he's completely rendered helpless as a completely unknown entity and situation spirals out of control. the sort of violating nature of the midnight entity and how something so simple is so genuinely terrifying. I'll always love this episode and RTD for this episode there's just too many reasons for why it's so brilliant to put into words for me and im so glad to see someone cover it! great video

@@RamblingManYT also the end of the episode is so good. the way we see them left in the shuttle with the shame of their actions, but also trying to feel justified and find justification in their actions, the doctor left sat on the floor completely done yet still terrified / ashamed of himself and the other humans/ ashamed + guilty that no-one, including him even knows the hostesses name.
just ahhhh this episode is so, so perfect in every way.

I am quite surprised to see your channel never touched on River Song's episodes. Or if it did it wasn't in any form which can be searched from your Channel.
River's instant deferral to the Doctor when she realises there's something wrong, but still being her usual playful self (which the audience is just as in the dark about as the Doctor) up until her send off with that one last night together... Beautiful.

To me, the best episode of the David Tennant era is The Girl in the Fireplace from Series 2. Brilliant episode. The writing. The story. The performances. The music. An emotional rollercoaster.

personally, I would have liked it more if the doctor was alone during it. kinda like midnight or waters of mars.
rose and mickey had no reason to be there for 99% of it.

I read somewhere that The Midnight entity was The Master as he's being revived his consciousness is displaced when Lucy blows up the prison in The End Of Time so The Master is flung forward and possesses Sky to basically fuck with the Doctor (possessing Sky the same way the Master possessed Treemas in Tom Bakers era creating the Ainley Master where he's basically puppeting a corpse, after this The Master basically finds his way back to his body in 2009, so if this theory turns out to be true we got a Master episode in 2008)
