I bought one after I watched your video and It took me a long time to install the lock. Approximate 5 minutes and put glue on the screw head and it is done😀😀😀😀
The lock worked perfectly on my 2011 Tacoma . OMG It took a senior like me almost 5 minutes to install . Someone else may take only 2 minutes. Do not forget to put crazy glue on the screw head to slow down the stolen process 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Installed mine in about 5 minutes on a 2015 tacoma. Just make sure you get the right angle for the lock and tailgate and it fits. Ending up using some blue loctite also.
Great video just installed mine on my 2012 tacoma didn't know why the soapy water until the rubber seal came off, put it back used the water and it worked out.
What specialty knuckle drive bit holder thing you got going on there to tighten the screw down? Also, this video couldnt be more and less helpful at the same time.
Just installed this on my 2013 Tacoma. Used soapy water, still had to wiggle it but still got it on. Plus I have a keyed latch as well. Tailgates are very easy to steal and very expensive to replace. Lock them up!
Didn't work on my 2015 Tacoma, which has a black-painted hinge, rather than the unpainted metal hinge you have in this video. The clearance was not even close. I was only able to get 1 ring on. Had to resort to the $2 pipe clamp.
I also lube the lock with soap and both rubber rings seals still busted because it was too tight to fit. Also get the tool he used. Holy Sh** I tried with screw driver and socket with ratchet but wouldn't fit. I didn't have the tools he had and used a crescent wrench with the provided security bit. It took me 45- 60 minutes to get it install because of the small amounts of turn allowed with little room you have.
Also, we moved away from the orinc type material and 3d print the rubber material to keep a small gap between the part and the hinge. The result is it is a little easier to install.
They added more sealant and a fold of the sealant around the hinge on some 2014 and 2015 Tacoma's, we did post an alternate method but there is varrience from the factory when they install the tailgate. Our price is more expensive but they are custom machines for this truck only, they do work and we stand behind our quality. Clamps usually are in the ground when you go out to your truck in the morning.
This did not fit on my 2010 Tacoma. In the video, the rings slide over with a little bit of play. Neither ring will fit over the female sleeve of my hinge. I am sad because this is a very well made, and extremely high quality product. Inside the rings are some type of plastic or hard silicone, which keep the lock from rubbing on the paintwork. They even spin around a little bit but once again, it would not fit on my truck. 😢
I just got my locking device today and tried to install it but I don't have enough clearance for the hinge. It appears to be a weld on the tailgate hinge that doesn't allow enough clearance. Any suggestions? I've watched the video several times.
It is a deterrent but there are the true thieves that don't steal tailgates they go for the big prize. We do recommend to add the steel stick to the fastener and add the washer mod. This has saved several tailgates and so have our 2016+ locks.
A stainless steel hose clamp is less expensive, easier to install, and does an excellent job. Remember to place the screw portion of the hose clamp on top and facing the rear while installing. Leave it a bit loose and rotate it so the screw points up and then tighten. Once installed, always remember to lock your tailgate.
Bend it with vice grips? Undo the screw by cutting a slot in it with a cordless dremel. Use a cordless grinder or the dremel to cut it off completely? Looks easily defeatable, but a PITA if you want to take your own tailgate off for some reason.
Anything can be defeated, I can take a blow torch and just cut off the rear end if the truck, but is it practical to make all that noise and hope to not get caught. It physically keeps the tailgate on the truck, and is a PITA to install and a bigger PITA to remove. Since these were made since 2014 I have not heard of a tailgate stolen with our lock installed. That makes us feel good. But it could be defeated given time and tools.

What washer did you use on the cable screws? i like that extra protection

It took me 5 minutes to install ,
Could you put a lock in place of the fastener?

Does this device rub on any of the paintwork?

Nice deterrent. Anything like this for a 2011 Tundra?
This one fits the Tundra, but different design: sabellco.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=33_59&product_id=53

Thank you
Do you guys have one thatll fit on a s10?
Can the locking device be installed on both sides or is it designed to fit on one side? Thanks
It is only required on the right side of the vehicle. The left hinge is fixed and does not have a slotted hinge
Thank you. Proceeded to purchase. The video is very helpful.

Just tried for two hours trying to fit this on my 2015 Tacoma and there is not enough clearance to to fit the tailgate back on. I give up!
That's what I keep hearing about this as well for 2015 tacoma
Glad I didn’t buy one now for my 2015 Tacoma because they’re way over priced! Especially to not work!
It worked on my 2015 toyota tacoma pre runner. I used a bit of grease and it slipped in with some fidgeting and done.

Same here. Im gonna get my money back. This didnt work on my 2015 tacoma. Buyer beware.
This DOES work on 2015 tacoma. It worked great on my pre runner truck. It takes some finessing.
Is this good for a Tacoma 2020?
We have one specifically for the 2020 but this one will not work on 2020. The other one has a key lock.
SaBellCo, LLC can you direct me to that one so I can buy it please.

Does this work for a 2002 Toyota Tacoma?
a clamp will work on any truck.
But it's easily removed and this product is not.
This lock doesn’t work with my 2015 Tacoma I have a black hinge that doesn’t let the lock slide in what so ever
@@MRDEATHWISHx please contact our support number, it might be because the way the factory applied the seam sealant to the tailgate.
Aww shit i put it on the other way. Like the screw facing in! Does it matter??
If you were able to get it install like that, it will not make any difference functionally.
will this fit on 2016 tacoma?
Sorry for the delay, No it does not fit the 2016 to current. We are working on one though. First Quarter 2017
SaBellCo, LLC can't wait. Thanks for the reply
Its almost 2018. Are you guys making one for the 2017s or not?
Just use a clamp dude.@@EDGEOFTHISWORLD
2015 tacoma is a real pain. Got it on backwards, cant get it off now. No bolt😢
Cool video
Ha! I used a set of basic hose clamps! Wala!
There's a video of a guy also doing the same thing but still got his tail gate stolen.
nice!
OMG this is Cool But this Shall Stop 🛑 a real Thief from taking your tail Gage, sorry It’s Not
Why not

it's only good for the snatch and grab, if they have tools and do it as a living it wouldn't work
