    Not just QBs, but agents have leveraged the NFL making hand over fist and creating an arbitrary "well he's up next, that's just how it works" and creating their own 'market', even where it doesn't make sense. At the moment they can pull it off because NFL has been counted on to just grow. I don't think it will slow down/push back in a significant way until the NFL's growth starts hitting a wall, which I do honestly think is coming sooner rather than later.

    Agents making all the money

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад +2

      They do serve a purpose though. I know agents can be bad something. But they do largely protect the players. As someone who has had multiple agents in the past, I’ve been incredibly grateful to have them. Because a good agent, is the only true professional with power who will be 100% on your side.

    I don't mind it if it coincides with raising the roster cap by 4 or 5 players

  • @mrtripledouble91

    The market is the market and the qb position is the most valued. I don’t think it’s something that will just fix itself because teams are desperate and there’s not going to be an influx of Qb talent coming in simply because at the end of the day it’s about wins not stats/potential. Yeah Dallas and Miami could decide to move on from Dak or Tua but all that means is another team will pay them. Cap goes up every year and owners/Gm’s prioritize that money going to the qb’s every year vs the other guys on the roster.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад

      I personally think we are going to see more and more higher quality QBs entering the league. So it has the potential to self correct in a way. Or see Qbs peak sooner as Travisoshea has mentioned

  • @yager6627
    @yager6627 Месяц назад

    Owners passing these crazy rules protecting the QB is now finally hitting them in the butt.
    QBs do not get a contract unless they get you in the playoffs.
    QBs don't get the major bag until they get a superbowl.

  • @travisoshea
    @travisoshea Месяц назад

    With the QB position being by far the most important to not only get right but then to be successful I understand the reason as to why they get paid more and more. It’s just soo hard for that position to get and then become successful.
    Where I think it will be interesting is if the salary cap continues to rise?
    I think a cap on the QB position may be interesting because there may be more teams becoming on par with one another. Now how high will the bonuses become and guaranteed contracts?

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah I just wonder what happens when a qb is making 100 a year, and a second year running back is getting peanuts but getting 20+ carries a game getting all banged up unable to get that next contract. It will also just make every kid from pee wee onward want to be a qb

    • @travisoshea
      @travisoshea Месяц назад

      @@JWLSports yea well, over the past 7-10 years more and more kids are playing WR and DB. Why? Because it’s a higher chance of them getting a scholarship because college teams and no the NFL are using more 10 and 11 personnel vs the old school 2 back systems. These positions as well are getting paid more at the NFL level.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад

      Exactly. And now the nfl is flushed with great WRs. I think it’s all exciting. I think a surplus of talent will make the nfl the wild Wild West where no one knows what to expect. But I know the media likes dynasties. Because they can rely on it for ratings.

  • @travisoshea
    @travisoshea Месяц назад

    To your point of QBs being better earlier, I think what is starting to happen and will continue to happen is that they hit thier peaks much much earlier than ever.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад

      Yeah that’s a great point. But question for you, do you think their peak will be sustained longer?

      @@JWLSports hmmm…. I’m honestly not sure. Think this class in the next 3 years will let us know.
      That’s a good question. I’m not too sure.
      I mean Dak and Baker both peaked a couple of years ago. Something that you and I tally a lot about and not many others do, is how important coaching is and how it can mask and also make a player be better or worse.

    • @travisoshea

      @@JWLSports I think coaching is going to become more and more important

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад +1

      Well then the question is, do we reach a point where now the norm is great coaching! Haha. I can genuinely see the NFL quality just going through the roof. Have we ever had this many great/elite QBs before? And with this many potential great/elite QBs?

    • @travisoshea
      @travisoshea Месяц назад

      @@JWLSports yea the quality of the QB position is going to get better and better because soo many young kids are going to camps and elite 11 and getting personal training, and able to stay in college longer with NIL, which in turn gets them more snaps but then again I can see their peaks hitting the mid to late 20s or the rare early 30s. Not like the Staffords or Goffs or Manning and Brady’s where they are hitting their best play in their mid to late 30s.
      Maybe also with these QB contracts getting higher and higher and the QB position getting better at a younger age, teams will not pay that second or third contract and go for a younger player and younger coaches

  • @sayoung86
    @sayoung86 Месяц назад

    Just name the year in Daks rookie years Dallas built out a great team…also that theory is flawed because even though those rookie contract QBs get to the superbowl they don’t win because most likely they were carried….when you look at it back in the day guys wasn’t winning into there prime years

  • @curtisjordan5303
    @curtisjordan5303 Месяц назад

    I don't agree eith a QB salary cap. Get as much money as you can. These owners are making tons more money than the players. Especialky when the MLB got $700M pitchers in the MLB. NFL needs to have guaranteed contracts like the NBA across the board. I think the salary cap creates better competition. Super teams are way more valuable when they do happen and thetly have a lot shorter lifespan.

    • @JWLSports
      @JWLSports  Месяц назад +1

      This has nothing to do with the owners. The owners don’t pocket the salary cap money. It’s essentially Monopoly money within the franchise. The 49ers owner isn’t making more money because Brock is cheaper. Lol

      So if you’re smart, you can invest that million in various funds that earn interest/dividends where the tax liability is low. If you have a million lump sum. You could earn around 60k-80k a year for life. And still have that lump some of 1,000,000 still there. If you don’t touch it at all, and let the interest compound. Every 7 years or so it doubles. If you’re genuinely interested I’d look into FIRE, financial independence retire early.

    Stop counting peoples pockets.. Can’t stand when taking heads talk about how much a player has already made and use that as a reason NOT to pay him his market value.. that take should be abolished from sports. The salary cap is already an artificial market suppressor that penalizes the most elite and popular athletes in the sport.
