    Well most Americans only recognise the US as being the only country in the world, so for them the NFL is bigger. For the rest of us sane people, of course its the Premier League and its not even a contest

      @@ravd8082 im not a massive fan of it but its a pretty simple game really, you have 4 goes to make 10 yards. If you make 10 yards you get another 4 goes. If you dont make the 10 yards in the first 3 goes you usually kick it back on the 4th go or risk handing over the ball to the opposition at the same point on the field.

      We are arrogant too. As an english guy I can say that american football produces a lot more than EPL and also the fact that most english teams don't even get to SF or QF in Champions League so the best league in the world can't beat portuguese teams, german teams, italian teams, etc

      There are 20 teams in the Premier League, only 3-4 of them are relevant, usually some toy clubs of Russian or Arab oligarchs. No other club can ever win it (except for some wild seasons like the Leicester one)
      In the NFL there are 32 teams, and any of these can win the Super Bowl in some foreseeable future.
      In the PL the top 3 most valued teams are worth like ~$5B, 3 others like ~$2B and others several hundreds.
      In the NFL the least valued franchises are worth around ~$4B.

      And so the fans don't lose the plot, each play is shown in slow motion, super-slow motion, and reverse angle slow motion so the ex-players and coaches can tell you what just happened and why it's so great. Live games are a little better, you can go early and "tail gate"... eat and drink as much as you can beforehand (It dulls the pain of having to sit through the live experience). Bottom line... for each 60 minutes spent watching it... less that 5 minutes of action & 55 minutes of ______ (insert your own adjective)

    • @tempusfugit9796
      @tempusfugit9796 8 месяцев назад +5

      @ghsense2626 it's not the "so called". It IS the biggest sport globally. As for salaries, football has a thing called jeopardy, ie promotion and relegation. If a club puts its entire squad on massive salaries, and they get relegated , the club loses a ton of revenue while still having to honour the players contracts. Leading to the possibility of the club going bust. This doesn't happen in the NFL as it's a closed shop with the same teams year after year, therefore, guaranteed tv and sponsorship revenue. There is also the financial fair play rules which limit the amount a club can spend to make the league more competitive. Meaning super rich owners are not allowed to put unlimited amounts of money into the club, like they can in the NFL

    As a Brit who’s lived in Texas for over 20 years, the proper comparison to the Super Bowl would be the Champions League Final. Comparing 1 final game against a 38 game league structure is comparing apples to oranges.
    The NFL season is only 4 months long (5 if you reach the Super Bowl) so the average NFL fan only gets to see their favorite team and players play 16-20 games a season. Compare that to the 60 plus games a team might play in the Premier League, La Liga, etc if they go all the way in domestic cup competitions and the Champions League, Europa League, etc plus any international tournaments that may then occur that summer. There is a hell of a lot more world football played through the course of a year than NFL.
    And lastly, a vast majority of the viewing numbers for the Super Bowl are people that couldn’t care less about the actual sport but watch for the half time show and superbowl commercials. My own mother (from Liverpool) went to a Super Bowl party “to watch the commercials”. 😂
    So yeah the Super Bowl is a hell of an annual spectacle but the actual sport itself is no where near as compelling (except for when the Dallas Cowboys self implode each and every season).

      Well with baseball you do only have a few leagues with the only real competitive leagues being US and Japan. The reason it is called the World Series is it is the best teams in the world. Your point would be right if in baseball we had massive leagues in almost every nation across the world like we see with European football. They are also two very distinct sports so trying to make them the same to take down his argument is silly.

      Oh sho you're saying we should call the UEFA Champions League as the World Champions League because the best teams are playing in Europe? Silly. • @Ivoryenperor9
      @Ivoryenperor9 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@jeromeclemente3672No I am not saying the Champions league should be called the World Champions League. I am simple pointing out that unlike Soccer/Football, Baseball does not have many competitive leagues the main one is MLB. When you look at other leagues like Japan or DR there is a massive competition drop off. My entire point is that we are comparing apples to oranges. One sport has dozens of leagues therefore it would be foolish to say any one of them represent the world. Whereas the other sport has very few leagues and only one of them is representative of the best talents in the sport. Every up and coming Baseball player wants to play in the MLB, whereas with football you have the Prem, Laliga, Serie A. Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. All having similar levels of competition. You are right it is not a Global Baseball Club Competition because there is not even Global baseball.The reason you are getting confused is you are assuming that baseball has the same market/reach as European football has and you are criticizing it using the standard set by European Football which is that every country partakes in your sport. Also the MLB had nothing to do with the supposed contents of this video so even bringing it up in the first place was irrelevant to the discussion at hand. And finally about Americans lying in marketing. Every country does that and this is not an example of that. If that’s deceptive marketing then so is the Champions League.

    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Ivoryenperor9but it's a perfectly valid point to take down his argument. Calling it the "world series" is a joke. There are no other countries teams playing. Now....yes. there are no competitive leagues outside of the US and Japan......but that's also because very few countries actually play baseball or care about it at all. Baseball is not even a top ten team sport in terms of global popularity. His point is utterly ridiculous. If having some Dominican and Japanese players justifies calling it a "world series" then pretty much most European football ⚽ leagues are weekly World cups given the wide range of players from Europe , South America, Africa, Asia etc...The point of it is that it exhibits the mentality and attitude that the US thinks it is THE world. And that its sports are comparable to the popular global sports most of the world plays. Bare in mind this is a video where an American is trying to argue that the NFL (a sport basically played by one country) is somehow superior to the PL. A globally watched and followed League.

In the NFL you're virtually guaranteed to make money, and if your club has a poor performance guess what, you get the best pick of the next draft; so you're actually rewarded for failure in the NFL. Also lets just factor in the commercial breaks seemingly every 5 minutes in an NFL game, the constant blabber from pundits, and the half time show in the Superbowl; how much money do you think would be made then? The NFL makes a great argument about making the most money. But honestly if you delve into the numbers, Football, globally, is KING of sports in all metrics including revenue and profit.
    The best comparison actually is looking at the top clubs versus the biggest sports franchises in usa. Compare the revenues of Barcelona, Man City, Man Utd and real madrid to the cowboys (biggest nfl franchise), yankees, golden state and lakers.
    Those latter franchises dont even get anywhere near those Football Giants 💯💯💯

      If American fans had to accept a world in which 5 clubs make all the money and nobody else has a chance theyd riot and quit watching. So maybe think harder about what makes a person a sheep and what makes someone savvy.
      NFL fans of a club know that no matter how bad they are, they’re one draft pick away from becoming a champion, and the worse they are the better their odds of getting that guy. European football fans either cheer for one of a handful of clubs or make peace with the fact their club will never win anything unless an oil sheik buys their team. And you think the American is the rube?

Until that happens, or a successful NFL expansion occurs ANYWHERE else in the world... you can claim nothing more than NFL playoff champions. Even the "Super" is just marketing.

Winning over a season tests lots of other qualities that don't apply to a one off game and is a stiffer test.

      @ravd8082 the rules are not that complicated but as mentioned, it's slow. The whole game has 1 hour of play time, but usually lasts 3 hours +. So at best 33% of watching it is actually playing time, 2 thirds is breaks in the action. "1 hour of play time"... surely you jest!
      From snap of ball to end of play, more like 12-15 minutes.of actual play time (google it). Remove special teams, each player gets more like 7 minutes of playing time (assuming they are not being rotated in-and-out for specific situations). Most games take 3+ hours to complete, so now we're down around 10% of the whole game time (< 5% per player, ignoring those that don't get on the field). They spend more time putting on the ridiculous equipment than actually playing.

    If teams cannot be relegated and brand new talent can be acquired for free by the draft, then of course it will be a better monetary asset than the Premier league. However it doesn't mean it's better because it's been commercialised to within an inch of its life.
    American football works like it was originally designed for television with the stop start style of play coupled with the seemingly endless streams of advertisements. All of these points increase the commercial viability of the NFL.
