The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite.

Let's talk Batmobiles. We've seen sleek ones, and fast ones, and innovative ones. This movie's Batmobile is by far the Most Menacing. When Penguin see's that Nightmare Car on his sideview mirror, he's looking at every crazy psycho slasher antagonist from the 80's.
It's just an engine, a jet turbine, and a gas tank, all covered in armor. It's terrifying.
Not more then batflecks
@@silentgrind34 agreed
It'd fit right in a Mad Max movie.
this Batmobile is straight out of the Year One comics.
Batmans first car was a dodge charger that belonged to his dad.
That opening monologue where Bruce talks about the signal and how criminals fear the unknown, was my favorite part of the entire movie. The cinematography, music, voice over, acting, and the overall atmosphere for Batman, was flawlessly done in that scene.
It's like Rorschach from Watchmen
Very basic opening the dark knight rises thats what the real special opening is
My fav part of the movie is towards ending
i agree completely - to me that opening was the most batman shit i have ever seen on the big screen. amazing.
@@bjird7278 No way. The Dark Knight’s opening was *FAR* more superior than TDKR. But this movie’s opening? For Batman as a character alone, this opening scene in this movie, outranks TDKR.
@@debX14 Guess of who Rorschach is supposed to be a spoof of...
This is an excellent example of Neo-noir film making. Everything from the color palette, musical tone, sound design, narration, film grain. It's the most noir movie I've seen in a long time which is an amazing tone for a Batman film and I'm totally here for it.
G. S. Movies are meant to be watched in pitch blackness. A TV show on the other hand would be tested with different levels of lighting.
“Batman is Psychotic” thats one of those things we figure out later in Life 😂
That’s the one thing this movie really made me realize. He’s a crazy person lol. And I love it
A grown man dressing up in bat themed armor to pummel criminals and cause massive damage in a civilian car chase? Unstable? Noooo...
He's a rich mentally ill person beating up poor mentally ill people
@@samuraijack8710 LOL yea. When he said that, I un-ironically agreed with him. “That’s a fair statement” lol
He knows that jl animated he even said to ww im a guy with issues a lot of issues
The rumble of the Batmobile, and the rumble of the cars during that chase scene, was insane in theaters. I could feel it, it was so loud
Starting the Batmobile and staring down penguin is the reason this was the movie I would have chosen to be able to watch over again for the first time
Robert and Zoe were awesome as Wayne and Selina but for me the standouts were Paul Dano as The Riddler and Colin Farrell as The Penguin, both of them completely embodied their characters and with the mask/prosthetics both were unrecognisable which allowed them to completely become their respective roles, Matt Reeves’ filmmaking is unparalleled and this movie is the first to match The Dark Knight
If I didn't already know it was Colin Farrell I'd have never been able to guess.
@@xensonar9652 ikr even he said that once all the prosthetics and the costume was on including the fat suit and then of course with the accent he couldn’t see or hear himself at all and he got hyped because he could fully lose himself (not in terms of being method) and become one with the character which to me is so awesome and makes me respect acting even more
I genuinely didn’t know that was Colin Farrell. That’s insane
The riddler copied a bunch of old Sam Hyde skits and was pure comedy in every scene
@@user-op2bh7rc9z Always that one MF tryna be diffremt lol. Terrible letter to pick for your name too.
"Oh man, and Batman can't Batman, man." Best line ever. For Batman, man.
The first Batman who's actually terrifying, as he was always meant to be
Zack Snyder tried to do it in BvS. The scene in the building with the locked up slaves and Batman branding everyone. But yeah Matt Reeves is the most effective.
@@luxurybuzz3681 I look at it this Zach’s Batman is the best old man Batman while Matt’s is the best young Batman or entering his prime Batman.
Terrifyingly bad. Weak Batman. Zoe is a horrible actor. The movie could have been good with better actors.
@@notyou8957 your opinion sucks
@@notyou8957 The first and only live action Batman movie
Should have watched this in the theatres. The car chase scene was 'heavenly'.
i watched in imax
When the Batmobile was starting up, the seats were shaking in my theater
@@RiveBassCovers I know right, god i'm missing that experience, the only way ill be able to do that now is in the future is when im capable enough to buy a home theatre setup XD
But then you can't get those RUclips views for first time watching xD
@@jaxx96632 lol yeah, i kind of hate yt for this where, now people just dont go to the theatres because they know if they sit home and react to a movie and record themselves, they'll get views
'Fun fact' - the funeral scene was filmed at St George's Hall, Liverpool, where I got married - watching it at a cinema in the same city was oddly exciting.
Pleasantly surprised by this movie, proves Batman movies can still be fresh and unique.
(And the clock tower he jumps off of is the Liver Building, next to where I used to work - part-Scouse Batman film, maybe I'm biased).
another fun fact - the Iceberg Lounge is actually The Printworks in Surrey Quays, and yes it is fecking great
god i love the practicallity of the movie and the sets they chose for the scene, still gives me hope for super hero movie directors
Amazing editing as always. The Batmobile revving in theaters and that whole chase was an insane experience. They incorporated the fear element so well in this movie.
“About your car’s extended warranty” 😂 I hate those bot calls.
I know I died for a full minute at that; good on ya maple, relieving the tension for all of us!
One thing I love about this channel. Maple and Ariana are so expressive and emotive. They make movies really enjoyable to watch. Another great job, Maple!!!
definitely one of the better reactions i’ve seen so far.
I can get out of my mind that moment when the Batmovil appears in the background and the motor starts to sound like a ghost screaming, so glad that i watched this movie on a Imax
Big shout out to Maple! Having all her nails done. I see you!
Pattinson has done a few things since Twilight. Check out his filmography. In point of fact, Diegesis ought to review The Lighthouse.
I have a sort of review essay about the lighthouse on the channel. But it's from before I hired on the girls
I like how in the beginning, the film tries to trick you into thinking the family we see through the binoculars are the Waynes.
This film is a comic book masterpiece! This is my favorite Batman suit, the suit was his utility belt. The whole cast did an amazing job!
Thecar chase is sooo good. Did anybody pay attention to the way they used the street lights? Lines of fiery orange paired with the Batmobil showed that ol'Copplepot just expirienced a nightmare in hell.
Robert Pattinson did a great job with the character
Excellent film. I’m hoping Reeeves does mask of the phantasm or something cool we haven’t seen yet in the sequels. That would be nice.
They surely going for court of owls. Just remember the moment Colson said "So much bigger than you could ever imagine, It´s the whole system".
@@lad-bo9ll They're definitely setting up Hush (as well as Joker) in this film. But I think Pattinson has said he wants to do Mr. Freeze.
@@lad-bo9ll Hmm, I don't really think they're preparing for hush, in 1st 'cause he has a very similar look to this version of the riddler an it's a similar concept. The court would be that different thing they'd have in this movies. Anyway, he have to wait to know, haha. I'd just love to see Mr. Freeze in the sequel and no much or nothing about the Joker.
There’s a theory that the homeless guy who talks to Bruce at the funeral is actually Joe Chill, the man who murdered his parents.
"Ooh, Batman can't batman, man." - Maple, 2022 (20:03)
I started laughing when you said the windows in the car was foggy from the Riddlers hot As* breath
that goes to show how grounded the movie, and how the director cares about every fine nite detail
Definitely looking forward to this one. 😊
I ended up watching this movie early yesterday morning in preparation for all of the reactions that I knew would be out in the coming days.
Really great reaction, Great seeing you again Maple.Missed you. 🙂 Looking forward to the next part. Looks like a great movie so far. Stay safe.
Fun fact, Alfred is Gollum, a.k.a. Andy Serkis, who not only voiced the little One Ring crack addict, but wore the mo-cap gimp suit to interact with the other actors, so the CGI editing later in post could replace him with a more realistically-moving Gollum. So all (well, most) of that scrambling around Gollum did was Andy. Like splashing around while catching the fish in the rocky stream in _The Two Towers,_ then smiling back at Frodo and Sam. Andy did that.
29:32 Basically my face in that scene too. I really hype for the second part!
"He's like a flying squirrel."
:P
He kinda was. 😆 I love your reactions.
@Diegesis PIB already has 53K in less than 24 hrs. Can't wait for the discussion portion! Much Love
I got an ad for The Batman during this video !!
XD
"Each movie I see him in, he gets a little bit older."
Maple discovering that the passage of time is linear.
By the way, while Robert Pattison is certainly fit, apparently he was being lazy and didn't want to work out daily to bulk up for the role like other actors in similar superhero roles do. A shame, really. It's one of my only criticisms of the movie. Batman is supposed to be at the absolute peak physically.
Oh awesome, m'lady and I just watched this lastnight :D I liked it.
You are the only reactor, who think about the breathing air in the car, a little detail that most people miss.
I always... And i mean ALWAYS get goosebumps when i hear that Batmobile starting up.
Pattinsom "im vengeance"
She be like "ok"
New here but oh my goodness I love this girl already, she's super funny and great reactor :D
"Don't you know who that is?" Not really, like they kind of know Batman, but this is still when the police don't trust him a lot, I mean most of them never have, but pretty much all of them don't trust him outside of Gordon. To me this movie was heavily inspired by the movie Seven from the 90s. The pacing and overall feel of it are exactly that, combined with Batman lore.
I also really wish people get the idea out of their head Robert Pattinson = Edward Cullen....cause he's done a lot of great work..those movies were near 15 years ago now. ended about 10 years back or so....Like he is a genuinely good actor and it sucks he's stuck with that stigma
Yeah, to me, Robert Pattinson was always Cedric diggory, because I never watched twilight, and seeing him switch to something so dark and chilling is honestly so fricking cool.
"Batman can't Batman, man!" Best. Comment. Ever.
Has Maple seen MAD MAX: Fury Road?
I think that would make a great reaction.
I love videos with Maple. She is so cool.
And Beautiful!!!!!!!
18:57 I love the soundtrack transition in this scene between Bruce wayne's theme and Catwoman's theme...
Damn, Maple you fine. Lol. And great reaction too 👍 mine were all about the same sans bat-rave haha.
Oh yea, never miss a chance to see the cutest damn thing on you tube react to a movie 💔💔💔👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That's cool af that she said she's excited right when the movie started.
This is just about 2nd years of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. So he is pretty new and a little bit inexperienced and also thats why the police except Gordon doesnt really trust Batman yet.
So I take it Maple doesn't know anything about Catwoman at all. Selena Kyle aka the Catwoman is technically a cat burglar in Gotham City every once in awhile she will team up with Batman especially if the s***'s going sideways and often times she is his love interest in the comics... There have been plenty of instances where she has turned against the Batman.
"Longest car chase ever"
Hey so you should watch Matrix Reloaded lmao
7:19 "Batman are you going to the Batcave or to the...."
"If Batman's in that Taxi, I'm gonna lose it." holy shit lmfao
Batman "I'm vengeance" Her "ok"
25:00 flying squirrel??? Seriously??? I lost my ass off on that one literally 😂😂😂
It's about drive....
This woman literally called one of the best chase scenes in 2022, and one of the best Batmobile chases in Batman history as 'sooo loooong'
Smh.
I'll be watching this movie on HBO Saturday night!!!
Good luck staying awake
29:31, that´s priceless 🙂 Had the same reaction when the Batmobile started up........guys don´t tell me you didn´t had freakin´goose bumps 😀
Andy Serkis AKA Gollum is Alfred.
Just earned my sub.
I'm here for Maple's BatRave.
Love your reaction!!!! You are so cute 🤣🤣
Bat Rave! Bat Rave! 😂😂😂
Funny how she recognises some of the batman stuff not all will recognise, but fails to recognise the batmobile 😂😂
very funny the batman [2022] film -movie reaction -part 1 !!!
The Batman Drinking Game: Take a drink every time someone says, "Jesus".
Everytime I hear the channel name, i think it's called "diet Jesus". 😆
"Batman is psychotic" is the key to understanding Batman.
This was the movie that really killed superhero movies for me.
Not because it’s bad - it isn’t. It’s that I just don’t care anymore. The movie’s called “The Batman” when it should be called “A Batman”.
It’s fine. I wouldn’t call it fun, outside of the car chase, where the real winner is the public perception of Maserati reliability.
It ends with a mass shooting that has to have killed dozens of innocent people before Batman can save the day.
But he did lead a bunch of people out of the tunnels via flare.
Wonderful.
Like most modern movies, it lacks the courage to challenge its audience.
As I said, it’s good. It’s competent. It’s not offensively stupid, it’s trying, it’s just… whatever.
Whoa, that was quick.
"I've been trying to reach you"
"about your car's extended warranty."
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ha! I'm watching it right now, this morning. You're getting things done, huh? See you later, all fresh and excited. :)
LATER: Ooooo... Finished it. What an interesting vision/version. Even more curious about your take, now.
Robert Poss you’re my favorite commentator
@@MapleDivine 😉 Kind of you to say.
AMAZING MOVIE! Great theatre experience
Will you watch The Last Samurai?
I just like the fact that Bruce was already Batman when the movie started.
5:16 i cackled so hard
Your Bat-rave moves need copyrighting before someone turns it into a victory-dance NFT
Lol no joke
Maybe people should have informed you that in the DC universe, there is something called the multiverse theory and it states that in the multiverse theory you could have 20 billion alternate versions of maple living on an alternate Earth well in this example this is an alternate Batman just as Ben Affleck is a different Batman from Christian Bale is different from Michael Keaton's Batman they all live in an alternate Earth so your idea Alfred is going to be different in each iteration of the Batman story.... Ironically enough their origin stories tend to be the same way even though they're different.
Love seeing peoples first reaction to batman and catwomen fuck fighting.
“Batman can’t Batman, man!” 🤣
Why does the guy who get's attacked by the gang at the beginning look like a vaguely asian Joseph Gordon-Levitt?!?!
I just watched this. The music is so good. Awesome Riddler
hey, nice video, can u please tell me the name of your outro music? its pretty chill
Ruthless - Dated
@@Diegesis cheers
Badguy who are you suppose to be?
Maple im batman
Batman I'm vengeance
Maple o0o my im hot 🥵 lol
Maple why would Batman use a taxi cab to get around when he has the batmobile?
She was thinking he'd be in there to trap cat woman
@@Diegesis Maple should watch the movie *Se7eN*
Idk why every time i hear your intro i hear "welcome back to diet jesus" and im like what?
Why why why lol why tomorrow part 2 it was getting so good
Cause this was all I had time to edit last night
@@Diegesis it's alright I'm hype for part 2 though
2:12 is that the indiana jones and everywhere actor also loki actor
You’re really a smart reactor
As someone who has spent time near explosions, I can tell you that Batman would not have survived that explosion.
Maple is always great.
The way you said Diegesis sounded like Diet Jesus.
25:53 Plot twist; I do take care of myself..… with drugs 😉
When you said each movie he keeps getting older, do you mean the character of Alfred or Andy Serkis? Because if Alfred I’d probably say the reverse is true.
So is knowing gonna comment on how this is a Batman movie with the Penguin, Catwoman, the Riddler, and the Joker in it?
.... think about it. :)
Beautiful... .
no no not film. but YOU ARE
Something I just noticed, which I think is one reason why people feel this is kind of elevated higher than The Dark Knight, or the other two films is - the lighting. I just noticed that in legit I think all of Nolan's films, he uses straight natural lighting. And this film theres A LOT of stylized lighting done either on set or in post. However I don't think the natural lighting in the Dark Knight should take away from it's accomplishments as a cultural phenomena, and with that - I maintain the position that The Dark Knight is still the best Batman film ever made. There is something to be said about Batman, but perhaps every superhero - and that is they are only as good as their villains. Now while I do think Heath absolutely stole the show, I don't think his performance completely overshadowed Batman, I really don't. I think it elevated him. In this however, while the Riddler was definitely creepy and disturbing, and Dano's performance was excellent - I just don't think the riddler character in this was very interesting. Whereas I found The Joker to be exceptionally interesting
Cause he isn't a giant joke like he's been portrayed in other films. He's very Zodiac killer like. That's what makes him interesting.
DC is/has been Alot darker than Marvel, as far as storylines. This movie reminds me of "Batman-Detective" comics series. If you remember, lol, in Deadpool 2, "You're so dark, are you sure you're not part of DC?" Damn they took "The Riddler" to a whole different level! 🧐😳 In this movie.
Penguins don't have wings.
Sure they do
Jumping from Dark Knight to this, skipping DKR?
This movie is waaaay better than DKR. But I agree. Should have finished the trilogy first
@@Aadhi95 I agree with you about this being the better movie, but just would have liked to see her finish the story.
This batmobile has the coolest sound out of all of them but as far as overpowered menacing ones go, batfleck still takes it. In terms of bruh wtf batmobiles, that still goes to bale but in terms of realistic year 1 batmobiles, this takes it
