When you said that 60 Fury was too far gone I immediately thought of Scott from Cold War Motors and what he started with and what it is now. Proof that no car is too far gone.
Love the wagon, great paint color. Imagine a 392 700 horsepower engine, tyranny and rear-end in it, what a beast sit would be. It deserves a full restoration at the least, and keep it
I just found your channel when I saw part 1 of this 65 Fury. My first car was a 65 Fury III wagon, similar color. I inherited it from my dad who bought it in 66. It started out as a nice car, but the old man was never one for taking care of cars. He drove it for 10 years and maybe changed the oil twice. Shortly after he gave it to me he decided to cut down a tree near the driveway that came down on too of the cat, right behind the rear door on the driver's side. The thing ran so bad, when I tried to pull away from a light I had to put my foot to the floor and the hood would shake like it was trying to fly away, but the car barely rolled. I pulled the oil pan and valve covers and cleaned out as much sludge as I could get out of it, tuned it up and did everything else I could do to try and make it run decent, but the damage was already done. That poor engine was toast.
One thing I got to say about your show which is so cool to watch as it reminds me of when I was younger I grew up in the 60s and seventies I worked on all my own cars and trucks and just watching your show trying to troubleshoot it with you and stuff goes wrong it's freaking cool man right on dude this is great.
I'm quite surprised that I found no sign of the General Grant Dodge Charger. It was never shown in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' cartoon series either; not just the TV series version.
Keep in mind, when you shut an engine off, heat continues to transfer into the coolant, which isn't flowing to the radiator to shed it. So although the coolant temp is increasing, the block and heads are actually cooling down. The engine isn't getting any hotter, but a temperature sensor will suggest that it is.
Hey man I love the Fury I have wanted a 65-66 fury wagon for close to fourth years and have never seen one for sale in Ontario Canada.Seeing your 65 makes me excited.Maybe I will find one one day.Seeing you do a couple pulls on the street sounds just like my 65 sport Fury I used to own had a 67 383 335 hp
Your videos are really well done and very educational. I’ve been watching your videos for about 2 months now and every one of them are inspiring and educational. Thanks for the great content!
I'd be most interested in seeing the International be saved. Not because it looks the most buried lol, but mainly because it seems to be the most useful. Plus, as you mentioned... All those bricks!
Omg the sound of this fury at red line is awesome! Just do an hour video of revving this thing to the moon! I bet it feels and sounds awesome in person!
I love that car, it brings me back to my younger days, I owned a couple of furies and real wish that I had kept them, Great videos my friend, thanks for the memories
Hi from uk mate👋👍 Loving the mixed variant of content this year so far👌 always something different between your projects👍 and will she do a donut hell yeah ""shes a hotrod"" baby! Great quote by dyno guy👌 and 195 for old wagon thats pretty damn good for her👍hope we get the running issue and overheat issues nailed tho lol thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
Great Show! NOW back I'm the 70's we had a racer Smokie Clayton build a 383 he destroked it and all the rest put it back in the 68 Dart GTS and took it to 10,000 rpm it was scary!
Good initial run on the wagon! I've had similar overheat problems in the early sixties, and as a result earned a lot of things that didn't work! First thing, you absolutely NEED a fan shroud, otherwise the fan isn't pulling nearly all the air through the rad. Second, many engines will not cool without the restriction of a thermostat. And yes, I always favored the 160 degree ones. Although this isn't a factor in your case, retarded timing will cause overheat. Finally, flush the radiator and the engine block repeatedly, 'till you get clear water. You might want to add some citric acid or white vinegar to the engine flush, but probably not the radiator and heater. Finally, Dwight Yocum was an ideal choice on the drive! That rubber sheeting you scored is EPDM rubber roofing, very durable and of course made for outdoor use! Makes a really great roof!
any of the tow rigs! can be used to drag home future projects too.. the bronco looks nice but gotta think it had some serious engine/trans issues if it was parked in good condition like that
Yeah one of the tow trucks would be sweet. But I'm probably better off getting a decent runner from Marketplace over messing with one of those junkers.
I have to say I enjoy your energy I'm a new subscriber and your different than the rest I watch vise grip garage and others but I think you have more energy than the rest keep up the good work
For a 57 year old S/W, the unit runs really well and the more work that you put into it, the better it'll go... Once you get the interior together, it should be a good daily driver... I would work on the Bronco II... From the home of PB Blaster Silicone spray... Cleveland, Ohio.....
Loved the video, can't wait for the next! The Bronco II 's are junk! I had one, 4 speed with no overdrive. It always sounded like it was fixing to blow up trying to get it up to highway speed. I hated it, seems like I had to replace just about everything. It was one big money pit. I guarantee you that's why it's so nice looking but sitting in the junkyard, lol, the previous owner couldn't take it anymore, lol!
Fury-licious! I quite enjoy living vicariously through such projects, thanks for sharing! Always nice to see an alert on new vids from you and car sounds good so far but I just started this, off I go to finish :) >>>>>> Edit~ Bronco!
probably too late to help now but for radiator and engine cooling system heavy duty flush use about a cup of dry oxalic acid crystals. Run to engine is hot then another 15 minutes. Drain, refill with a cup of baking soda and water, run until hot engine and for a few minutes after that then drain. Oxalic acid was a major component of the old heavy radiator cleaners by DuPont and others back a few decades ago, before aluminum components came to be. You may need to do this twice and depending on how brave you are, let the engine run a half hour. The risk is that heavy rusted areas may start to leak because the rust was all that was holding it tight. Oxalic must have heat to work, hotter the better. The only other remedy would be to remove the top and bottom tanks of the radiator and rod them out. The engine block would still need to be cleaned this way because of the heavy rust accumulation.
Nice work with your old car, I have A Plymouth grand voyager 94 old to. I liked the change to electronics injection the sound is the terror 😂🤣👍 congratulations, and salutation from South America 🇨🇱 Chile, sorry for my English I hope you me understand. So incredible car.
I am new to your channel and love it. We had a Fury in Laos in the early 70’s as our British Embassy car: I was 7 and loved it’s sheer size compared to UK cars of the time! Thank you for your content and say ‘hi’ to Gus.
Green LTD, then the Nova, then the Bronco II. As far as the overheating, yeah, probably clogged coolant passages in the block. Make sure that water pump has the right size pulley as well, because under-driving (or over-driving) the water pump can obviously cause issues. And running without a thermostat can cause overheating because the coolant can flow through the radiator too quickly to be cooled. You might try a 160 stat, or even a washer as a spacer/flow restrictor versus just running a wide open T-stat housing with nothing slowing the flow down. Another possibility is that one injector not working. As you know, too lean can make things too hot. Anyway, great show, man! Keep up the good work. Always awesome seeing old crap brought back to life! I am building a Buick 350 for my 74 Jeep J20 4x4 right now, should be good for 350 HP or so. She sat from 84 til I bought her about a year ago, AMC 360 long gone, and the stuck Olds 350 someone tossed in long ago ran on 7 once I got it freed up. That's out, Buick 350 going in is a one-year-only 1970 SP code, came from a Buick Skylark GS, 10.25:1 compression from the factory, stock was 315 HP and 410 TQ, looking to step that up just a little, so as to not blow the QuadraTrac T-case out of it every time I get on it! LOL! On with the show....
You're beginning to see the same Sniper issues that all of us Sniper owners experience in the beginning. As others have said, the connectors on the injectors come loose. In addition, I've had to replace my pressure regulator, had pieces of mystery metal clogging the pressure regulator filter screen (three times now, and yes I have the Holley supplied fuel filter), the IAC locked up and had to be replaced, and the noisy fuel pump that came with my Sniper Master Kit shredded itself. Not to mention, six months of tuning (I hope you weren't counting on the self-learning to take care of everything, because it doesn't do squat for cold engine performance and it doesn't know what AFR your engine wants, so you have to figure all of that out yourself). Good luck!
Really enjoyed this project. It reminded me of the original Car&Driver Boss Wagon. Big block wagons were some of the best sleepers and practical as well! Great videos! Thanks!! 😎👋🏎👍👌
Try to put some sort of shroud around that old rad so the fan can pull air to the rad only and not from all angles loosing air. You need all you can grab with that clogged rad. You be amazed in the change. Shroud Def helps. I'll see ya one day cruising when I'm over the bridge. Love your content.
Hey Mr NNKH I love your videos great pacing, interesting vehicles, fun side stuff like the squirrels just awseome keep it up. I'd love to see the green LTD.
I loved this , i had a 1966 Plymouth Fury 2, 4 door , it only had a 318 Wedge when i bought it for $200 sat for 24 years, put a battery in it and it fired right up .. i did end up putting in a 383 Interceptor motor out of a sport Fury police car though.. lot of fun building that car .. wish i could find a good deal on another Mopar to build.. but my wifes cousin just gave me a 1956 Buick Super, 2 door with the original 322nail head.. hoping to do a will it run this winter when i get time
Plymouth used true power steering very different from GM and Ford. It was famous for the one finger steering. Family owned a Fury III 1967 fully loaded. Drove it for years and years. I remember accidently doing a 180 reverse spin on a country road. Scared the shit out of the guys. Life was different then we cruised all weekend. Thanks Dad
I was on the fence about the holley sniper until I watched you slap it on and it seemed to function perfectly. I guess I got lucky too mine worked good too.
What an awesome revival - so much great work so far! I really think you should do 1 up from vinegar to clean the rad and all the channels in the block - try the citric acid flush. I read somewhere about that, it was a Mercedes standard flush back in the 70s. The thing is...after just 5min running it on idle 4 out of 6 core plugs opened up! They were rusted out just like yours, but the acid ate away the rust and a leak turned into a chocolate waterfall :) You need a 10% solution and citric acid is quite cheap and found in most grocery stores. When I opened up the cores there was a ton of sludge still in there, but it was mostly all loose and I believe I could have gotten it all out even without opening up the plugs. My car also used to overheat - none of that now, even in hot summer days (100F+)
The green LTD! my grandpa had one in the early 1970s. and Out of nowhere it's the backyard chicken farming channel "Do a balance check on you" Chick needs some shims! Great video! thank you!
Love the video especially the donuts. My dad was having the same problem on his 383 stroker camaro running at 220 I put all new parts besides the stock radiator that he bought. Finally talked him onto a 4 core aluminum radiator and electric fans . Waiting on a new trans cooler then we will see how that works. BTW maybe we can do some kinda trade deal if u ever wanna get rid of that. I have a beautamis s10 extreme extended cab...step side bed and fiberglass cover. Painted it 5 years ago ultra silver metallic. 22 inch wheels. Original interior with floor counsel shifter mint condition. Paint has some littpe dings and scratches now. Funny how whenever you put a car in the garage for winter there's always something new when u bring it out in spring. Anyway I just love that car . My truck is my baby but I've always had a thing for hotrod wagons. Anyway man have a good one. Love all the driving shots
Would love to see you get your hands on an older Oldsmobile Toronado. Watching you put your magic touch to one of those babies would be a dream come true. I've owned a few of them over the years but my favorite was a 1970. (My very first car at 16 years old)... I'm a newcomer to your channel but I have to tell you you're stuck with me now! Lol you've got a steady customer here. You do amazing work!.
Howdy You Tube! I have been following the path of the Fury, and it has shown your skills at wrench turning. While that is impressive, your inventory management is on a whole another level sir! So I know I can't be the only viewer who noticed a bit of white exhaust coming off of the passenger side. perhaps something to look into? I look forward to more of your content my dude.

My folks had a 75 Ford LTD blue, beautiful powerful smooth riding sedan! Bought it right outside of West Chester, Penna.
Definitely the Bronco, it’s a beaut!

65 Fury.

I've been a MOPAR fan for over 50 years. That 383 brings back memories from the sound. My 2nd. car was a 66 Fury. 2 with a 318.
I vote for the Bronco.
Just found your channel and watched all 3 parts on the Furious Fury Wagon, enjoyed it 👍
Same here … hope to see part 4 soon!
Me 2, these vids are fun to watch. Mechanically incline I’m not.😢
that massive 59/60 Fury with the wings would be my first choice for a rescue. when the hell are you ever gonna see a car like that on the road again?

Great video! thank you!
I love this car. From end to end it is just plain cool.
Whoopsie, you really tightened up all the wires nicely, the engine "looks" great, and sounds like it runs well, too!
This wagon is destined to face neverending problems
Like all machines
Surprised the efi works that well with that low manifold vacuum. Nice to see it running great! Cool car for sure!!!
You should put on some really cool vinyl skull or Devil wrap. Would look wicked on the hood and the top of the car.
You need a Plymouth couch car next
Good to see it going good if you put half to a cup of washing soda in the rad it will clean out the rust out of it
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for taking the time to share
I like that car! You are an awesome mechanic!!
One of your reverse lights was out incase you missed that in the video reversing into your garage. Love your content and channel!!
I like your series on this Plymouth, I would not call this a turtle of a car with almost 200 rear wheel horsepower, that is respectable power.
love the channel, esp when u fix/repair/repurpose a part that fails.
Yes! Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Man". Been sportin' that in my car's CD player lately.
Omg. Growing up my mom bought a 76 ltd that was green on green. I was so embarrassed by it but now I want one. Lol
