You all are awesome!! ❤
Hello! Can you do a video on Photo hoarding and how to stop & improve on this behavior?(preventative care). I'm currently struggling with this form of OCD, i believe it's called digital hoarding. I'm Saving memories thinking i will need them or afraid i will forget.
Somehow this is even harder to get rid of than Objects.
Much love,
H-
Your videos have helped me a lot
I didn't even know I had ocd or what ocd even was before your videos
Thank you so much❤
And you are awesome, too, extremely awesome and very helpful.
Grateful
I consider myself in a great place in my recovery! Do I still have intrusive thoughts? Yes. Do I still, sometimes, feel the urge to perform compulsions? Yep. But these things do not control my life anymore! I don’t spend hours on my day anymore ruminating about my thoughts. I notice them and just let them go
When your intrusive thoughts are "what if I'm not good enough?" no wonder they're easy to get over...
@@amfortastheme of OCD is not important my friend, OCD is OCD because someones theme seems easy or non distressing to you doesnt mean it isn’t distressing for that person.
@@berkakman2219 I know, but some themes are easier to resolve than others
It’s insane how watching only two videos of this guy has helped me more then the last 5 years of seeing doctors and them just putting me on anti depressants.
This perspective is so helpful. I’ve never been without intrusive thoughts, I just never feared them before when they popped up from time to time!
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
This really helped today. I was getting frustrated with not being symptom free after 2 months with NOCD. However, I had to step back and see that my life has TOTALLY CHANGED. Your videos have helped me so much. Thank you bro.
That’s the point. You don’t recover - you cope.
Nate, you are an amazing person - thank you for helping us!
Thank you for this. Just finished listening to some other dudes here on YT who spoke about OCD recovery in such negative and military-like way it made me sick. Self acceptance must be the foundation of this road, and I find your gentle words to be very soothing.
My sense is that this connects to the original situation that caused the pattern. Some people might not be able to remember, but my mother was intensely reactive and critical. I have journals from age 7 which basically show that an early age I became OCD in an attempt to try to avoid getting yelled at or punished. For a naive child this expectarion makes sense- but for adults we naturally have to deal with spontaneous events and stress. Everyone has intrusive thoughts or anxiety from time to time. It’s about being a functional adult right? And that’s far from perfect.
Thank you. Your videos are very helpful to understand my condition.
Thank u for making these videos and helping people with ocd doc. ❤
Nathan you're great, my life is much better than it was, i feel in control of myself now nd i keep recovering every single day, thanks to you!
Your videos helped me know how to recover❤ I'm so thankful 🙏🏻
Thank you for giving a positive outlook, realistic goals for recovery and such an amazing compassionate treatment videos.
Thanks bruh
I want to say that your words have been my motivation To go through the day feeling like I have someone who understands this feeling
This man is awsome... in short videos gives so much good info
You are awesome!
Recovery for me would be to enjoy and live my life however I want, without my OCD holding me back, being functional and independent, without that excessive amount of suffering. I know that it will always be there and that I will always have to work hard to keep it at bay, but I'm at peace with that.
Thank you Doc! YOU are Awesome!
Another great video 👍🏼
I went out of depression thanks to therapy only to find myself in a swamp of anxiety. The illness surely traumatized me and hard coded to think negatively about anything. All the time I got angry at me for no enjoying this depression-free life so it got worse and worse. I finally can except these thoughts and treat them as what they are: neutral content of my mind. Eventually they will get less and less the more I code my brain into thinking positively, but mabye not ;) Thats the key. IT DOESNT MATTER! Thanks, your channel really helped me to understand.
Thank you so much for your videos. I haven’t been officially diagnosed with OCD but I believe I may suffer from it. Your tips and education on how to handle intrusive thoughts have helped me tremendously. I also struggle with anxiety and felt like I was literally losing my mind. I even began to experience derealization (I still have episodes but not as intense) and been dealing with existential crisis. Thank you for all you do! I will keep going and enjoy life again 😊
Thanks for sharing what you're going through. I'm so glad you're here. You will keep enjoying life!

I wanna thank you sir,,,your videos heaped me a lot when i was in need of help....thanks
Thank you so much for being here. I appreciate you.
Thank you for the videos they really help and I made goals too. One my goals is to be 1 percent better each day that how I approach it and that mind sets really help to come back to the present. Thank you
I think everyone has intrusive thoughts it's part of nature, people respond differently to intrusive thoughts some people don't care and some people care more than they should
Watched a video on anxiety once that said getting rid of anxiety completely is a “dead person goal” 😅 because as long as you are living, you will experience anxiety.
And ocd is active when anxiety is active 🤦🏻♀️
Your videos are helping me a lot, sir. I haven’t been officially diagnosed with OCD but i think, i am suffering from OCD for almost 2 months. Your tips and tricks help me a lot and make me clam and also give me hopes. Thank you so much, sir.

Hi Nate, thank you for all your support in the ocd community. I find so many of your videos extremely informative and helpful. I was wondering if you recommend any self help ocd books that help in ocd recovery?
I suffer with religious ocd, but I think it's starting to get a lil better now since when I have this thoughts I just continue with my day, thanks
Sir you are the best keep doing it sir. Big respect to you sir. 💯
I really want to get out of this dilemma sir. Life is full of life if I do not have this OCD i cry sometimes and even asked why I have OCD.
Love watching your videos I have a long way too go but I will certainly have a go in reducing my intrusive thoughts and aniexty. Kind regards Justin
God bless you. Lifesaver.
Can you please do a video on body dysmorphia, but for people with actual real flaws, like bellies or a crooked nose?
Gracias x recordarmelo!
Thank you!! (:
Hi Nathan. Thank you for your work. I realised that sometimes I am obsessing that if I don't do ERP something bad will happen to me (e.g. I will lose control because of OCD or become a terrible person whom everyone avoids, etc.). Does it make sense to you? I doubt that acting on that urge (like any urge) would bring long term improvement. Should I wait it out?
Hi! Could you tell me what you think about TMS as treatment for ocd and anxiety?
Since it has less side effects than medication why don't more people use it?
Hello! I love your channel, my fiancé suffers from anxiety, depression and ocd (specifically retroactive jealousy) it’s been very very hard for us in our relationship. I was wondering, would it be a good idea for both of us to take the course together? (As a way for me to show support to him)
Always love your videos Nathan, for me (I know everyone's different) they are now too fast for the information to be informative and to sink into the brain. The early videos were more slower and longer, but gave the brain time for the info to sink in. This one is so fast! that the info is a blur - watching your videos now is like running to try and catch a train - hurry, hurry hurry. So many editing tricks that the info is lost - just my opinion, but will continue to watch and re-watch. At the moment I'm on the 'second-time-around' watching all the videos and live chats. Just a little (hopfully) helpful criticism, but you were the first ideal therapist I watched on here - and I will continue.
Thanks for your feedback. Thanks for being here for so long. It's tough to find that balance. I think TikTok has ruined attention levels. 😄
@@ocdandanxiety :)
Im not sure if you’ll ever see this but I’m not diagnosed with OCD. Im still pretty young and I’m terrified of self diagnosing myself. Im feeling intense shame and regret for some stuff I did as a kid. I keep on trying to reassure myself that I’m not going to become a bad person but then my thoughts instantly just get worse and I go over things in my head to make sure I don’t get a positive reaction out of it. I got an intrusive thought of something I might’ve done a few minutes ago and I felt physically nauseous. I want to tell my parents about it but I’m honestly scared to do so. Any advice?
If it does not notably interfere with your life then it might not be OCD, however if it takes up too much of your time then you might have the disorder. FYI for real event OCD, which is what you might be experiencing, look at this way. You are not 100% good or 100% bad. You have to accept the fact that you are 98% a good person. Thats how people without OCD look at it and you should as well. Hint: there are no 100% good or 100% bad people in this world so give up trying to live life without making a mistake, its impossible.
How can I know if the thought of getting involved in a relationship with a man causes me distress or pleasure but I feel distress because I like that thought?
I am constantly scared shivering from top to bottom 😢
my anxiety suddenly became staring ocd and it feels like I'm not myself anymore my workmates are making fun of me because of looking at private part of men, like everyone of them which against my will, sometimes they got mad bec I'm making them uncomfortable. I don't have any treatments I just really hate myself for being like this. I really want to stop looking but my eyes kept on using its peripheral and it's really obvious.
So you are saying that o CD is not only about washing your hands and germs and all that? My brother is a psychologist and he told me that he had this. And he said that it's very, very scary but I never understood it because I always thought it was just about Washington hands and germs and being obsessed with things like that. Now I know what hes talking about. I think I have it and maybe it just runs in families like other things. Thank you so much. I'm so glad I found you.
Thank god if you only have to wash your hands
Sir, is there any comparing symptoms in religious ocd.. Please tell me
Always find a help, serious ocd needs proper treatment
I see social media comments like "Bro let his intrusive thoughts win" and I think oh my intrusive thoughts will someday come true. But my evidence shows that I'm a person that's relatively calm, composed and valued. So, with this mindset, 1 yr down the line, I'll propose my GF and 2yrs down the line, I'll marry.
Yes, sometimes ROCD may occur, sometimes I might look at other cute or hot women and let my brain do the comparisons with my GF, and maybe think "Why don't I have such a hot person" But I know, it's natural to get attracted to other people, while being in a relationship, we're humans after all.
My girlfriend is the cutest, she's small, she's hot, she's everything I'd die for and can't live without.
This channel has been of great help. Thank you 🙏 ❤
May Mahadev blessed you sir
How can I get rid of staring OCD?
The more I don't have compulsion the more I recover, I it's really hard trying not to have compulsion.
Can anyone help me with this? I’m currently taking 100mg zoloft and being on meds has made me feel more hopeful and happier, but on the other hand it makes me wonder if it’s really the medicine that’s helping. What if im just doing better, does that mean im taking a med I don’t need? Could that be harmful to me? This has become my new worry and causing me anxiety
It's the meds. They are working.
@@alecempire8982second this, you take meds, feel better, think that your good, stop, then it all comes back lol
Yes but every time I think about my ocd thought I feel helpless!
now i am gonna let my mind just do what it wants, i dont care :) thinking and thinking okay no prblm...
Yes exactly allow your mind to get has chaotic has its want but acknowledge the feelings and emotions associated with those thought and conciously focus on other stuffs. And eventually intensity and anxiety associated with those thoughts will decrease.
You only say that because you got reassurance from this video. Give it a day or so and you’ll be boiling with anxiety again
One question I have about ocd is it possible to preform a compulsion with out the anxiety
Yes
I have question? ..
So can we agree that our brain are wired differently and we can’t think clear like other people can?
I can’t find the video, but I listened to one this morning that claimed that OCD sufferers have a portion of our brain that swells as our symptoms get worse and recedes as we go into recovery. It makes sense as I have bouts of lightheartedness when OCD is strong.
That said I think it doesn’t help to think in terms of any way that might make us seem special.
We can get to the same mind state that non sufferers are at. I know bc I’m currently in my second major harm OCD bout. In the 10+ years in between my previous recovery and my current condition I was able to shrug off most intrusive thought.
Is OCD curable? It devastaed my life. Disconnected me from the society, took my dreams and transformed me from a normal person to a useless human being? 😢😢😢
It's absolutely possibly to reduce the severity of it a great deal. I've lived with it for over a decade and it's not a walk in the park. But by undergoing the process of treatment (by not engaging with compulsive behaviours, etc), you will become virtuous in terms of becoming braver, more disciplined, more mentally resilient and that's a huge part of OCD recovery and becoming a better person and a better man. This is how I view it. I embrace the anxiety, the intrusive thoughts/obsessions because I know it will improve me and grant me the opportunity to be virtuous.
Depends. If it’s physical compulsions, then yes, you can recover. If it’s pure o and mental compulsions, no, you can’t recover
Is sleep 😴 ocd a thiny
Everybody is gonna have intrusive thoughts and anxiety its a human thing. The difference between ocd is the effect on your life.
Please add subtitles
Any ladies out there who experience intrusive thoughts more during their cycles or after pregnancy?
That's normal since you're more prone to negative emotion at those points. That's kind of a no brainer hehe
I m stucked in a cycle of worry and doubt
Hi bro can i talk to you about this ocd
Why bother with treatment if we we don't expect it to work??
Am i the only one who moves and measures furnature so its perfect. ??😮😮😮
I ca not sleep with intrusive thoughts.
I think you can recover from OCD and live a life with no symptoms. I did for over 10 years with medication. I don’t think there’s a cure in the sense that it’s gone forever since I think the potential for it to come back is always there. It’s more like remission
I’m struggling again after many intense stressful situations but I know I’ve gotten out of it before and it’s possible to live a happy life with no or little symptoms that don’t get in the way of you living life.
"Choose to not do compulsions" mental compulsions are not a choice you just do them automatically
Some are. Some aren't. People can practice awareness training with the automatic, and choose to not engage with them overtime.
I know not feels impossible not to do mental compulsions, but you can stop them in their tracks. Use non engagement responses.
how
@@ocdandanxietythe ones that are automatic will not go away, therefore you cannot recover
I always fear of being triggered by content like this, not to find fault in anything though. If someone’s definition of recovery from OCD is being symptom free, at least from their specific intrusive obsession (and I really have seen people like Mark Freeman and Ali Greymond who are not “managing” their OCD anymore), we should learn to also respect and honor that definition and not see it as “unrealistic” or even “deceptive”. People like them offered me a lot of hope when I was high key suicidal from OCD, compared to those who only advocate for a chronic management of the condition. But that is just me.
I appreciate your thoughts. One main point of this video is for people to not fall for the sales tactics of "You can fully recover. Look at me. I did. Licensed therapists are wrong."
Because what they aren't telling you are the times they are managing their symptoms because it would go against their original sales pitch.
Ultimately, what it all comes down to is that everyone is different and you focus on what works for you. Anything is possible.
Mark Freeman would very adamantly tell you that the search for a life without the symptoms is useless though
@@russellnoe3054 not saying that I am searching for a life without symptoms, but i think comapred to other channels where they only talk about "managing" OCD, Mark's recovery story and his overcoming of his OCD offers me a lot of hope. Also, for Ali Greymond, she says she has completely recovered from OCD, I don't think we are in any position to deny or refute her claim as we are not her.
@@ocdandanxiety Thanks. But i only agree with the last paragraph. I don't think the ones I have come across said licensed therapists are wrong. Also, I also don't believe just because one is licensed means he or she can help everyone (not saying you, I am just saying in general). Ultimtaley, different methods work for different people as long as they do not advocate for the doing of compulsions/ruminations/avoidances.
Also, I know what you are trying to convey in the second paragraph. But I am a bit disappointed that you also put your own assumption onto other people's recovery and chucking it up to "not going against their original sales pitch." If they indeed made a full recovery, I don;t think we are in any position to judge their recovery journey.
That being said, I appreciate your response. Your content is still better than some like Chrissie Hodges who put her own expectations of recovery onto others and say that OCD is chronic with no hope. Her content left me suicidal and hopeless. Let's just keep it at that.
Hmm you actually don’t. You have a different definition of recovery. People here want to feel normal again and not be bothered by their thoughts. No one wants to coast along and cope until the next big theme.
Very depressing, confusing and discouraging video. So, full recovery (becoming like person who never had ocd) is not an option. Just pathetic management - beeing always mentaly weak person and in danger of relapse. That is acceptable only for losers.
Dude. WAY. TOO. MUCH. EDITING. Makes it really hard to watch and digest information.
im not even sure i have ocd, but i know your videos have helped me so much 🥲 cant afford to try to get a diagnosis. idk. but these vids help whatever i got goin on
