In this scene Annie Sullivan is attempting to teach Helen Keller how to eat using utensils. Видеоклипы
I loved Patty Duke, but Helen was a young child when this happened. It's hard to find a child who can do this role so well, and this actress nails it.
It’s hard to think a little girl had this live like this ❤️
She taught her how to operate in accordance how her own actions would make others feel too. interesting.
Beautiful ..the child knows after they are loved ...I love this movie
People shouldn't compare this version to the 1962 version. This one was in color, it was for a new generation of children and family, it was more subtle and age-appropriate. I'm a 90s kid and grew up with this version. Both were for different audiences. It really taught me about Helen Keller and her life. I really think Alison Elliott did great playing Annie Sullivan. She has the Victorian-era look, too
The Greek Pianist That wasn’t Alison Elliott, that was Patty Duke herself. She played as Helen Keller in the 1962 version and now in this TV movie she plays as Anne Sullivan,. She won an Oscar for her performance in the 1962 version of The Miracle Worker and she won an Emmy award for her performance as Anne in the 1979 TV movie version. Isn’t that great? She won awards for playing as both characters.
@@scifinerd17 THIS version is not Patty Duke. This is the 2000 Disney version, with Alison Elliot.
@@blueturtle3623 I know that comment I made’s two years old. I know now that Jesse Eisenberg’s sister Hallie Eisenberg played as Helen Keller in the Disney TV movie.
@@scifinerd17 my bad on the time thing.
I don't really see this as "for kids". I like both movies, and I don't consider them different enough that anyone wouldn't like both of them.
I have this version of this movie on video. This video on here sure makes me want to see this again.
This child act so well
No that’s is heln
This easily the best 'Helen' I ever saw. The child not only acted brilliantly, she was the right age for the part.
Poor kid.I am totally on Annie's side but to realize your entire family left and you can't find them
They were obstacles to her improvement, since they reinforce her negative behavior.
That little girl is a brilliant actor
yeah prob why she starred in Paulie cause of this performance
Tame slaps. Patty and Anne were the real deal.
Yes. I agree.
Around the 2:48 mark- little Helen was feeling out the food with her feet to understand where she was exactly. She knew the dishes of food by smell. Thus where the end of the table would be, where it would be open enough to TEST her _miracle worker_ , with a "Trust Fall". Something I dont remember from the other two movies, maybe something unique to this one. Well done.
It's interesting how she matches her slaps and such. I would normally believe this is wrong but you can see that it is almost a from of showing her respect in that she does not baby her or treat her as a child that is beneath her but rather as an equal. She is meeting her where she is at and validating her resistance by fighting back accordingly rather than playing a punishment game. She does not think she is too good for Helen but rather makes it clear she is her match. Very interesting.
That, and learning that what she is doing to Anne hurts. She slapped Helen back because she didn't realize not only that it hurt, but if she wanted to stop getting slapped, she must stop slapping
Agreed. In 99.9% of cases I'm completely against corporal punishment, but Helen had _never_ been shown that her behaviour hurts people, and she had never been told her behaviour was wrong, and at this juncture it's not like she can be told in words. I also totally agree about the respect thing. Annie respects her enough to actually communicate with her in the only way she can understand, instead of not bothering just because she can't understand words.
This is a beautiful performance
It's so funny that they slapped each other
Soooooooo nice Mrs Sullivan
This girl has clearly been thinking more about really playing someone who's blind, deaf and mute. You can tell how young as she is, she already was a professional actress.
Melissa Gilbert had less acting professionalism, but way more experience. And of course Patty Duke was a natural talent. So they all were great.
This is a wonderfully moving film. I know this scene wasn't intentionally funny but I involuntarily laughed at the slapping part. I just thought that the girl must be pretty strong to make someone's head fly back like that when slapping. That teacher should learn to block...
But then I realized how scary it must've been for the girl to not see or hear anything and yet be grabbed and restrained like that.

The music in this is gorgeous. So wonderfully expressive, like the score of a silent film. I love it.
Also, I know I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for this, but Hallie Eisenberg was a much better Helen than Patty Duke, and I say this as someone who is visually impaired myself. Duke's performance, while I'm sure it was groundbreaking for its time, now comes across as someone pretending at not being able to see and hear. Eisenberg, meanwhile, seems to be truly embodying what it would be like to be blind and deaf. Her gestures are much more natural, not as over-the-top and mugging for the camera as Duke's (yes, I know the '62 film was heavily based on the stage show, which requires different, broader acting for the people in the back).
Hallie Eisenberg was a much better Helen than Patty Duke and this Ann salivan much better than
Hallie Kate Eisenberg did an amazing job as Helen, what an incredible actress to perform like this at the age of 8.

Amazing movie. I cry when I watch it!!!!
Helen learned not to mess with Annie.
5:55 have me thinking they couldn't speak the whole time
the Helen is sooo cute 😘😘
Helen Keller was 6, and a sturdy strong little girl. Annie Sullivan was short. The fights were epic as Annie began to train her. What you saw in Patty Duke's performance was Helen's blazing intelligence trying to break through.
The reality of life in the South in the early 1870s (when Annie started her work) was poor, dilapidated for most who had lost the work hands for home and plantations and farms that had limited labor. Helen's family had few servants and lived modestly in a small town. The costumes and setting were a little much for the reality of it.
I really love love in this version
Dear all,
I've purchsed the DVD with this film and watched this; the plot is so touching... However, the music in the DVD is not so distinct, as it is here; thank you again for posting this heart-piercing movie...
P. S. William, your name goes right after the stars' names in the beginning! So pleasant to see it there.
I know y'all seen her perfectly go hack to that table right
What a good actress
Poor Helen :( she can't see 1:26 and I cried 😭😭😭😭😭 and she can't even get out!
This was more realistic to me. The little girl was at the right age. The other kids that played Helen Keller were older. ❤
Toda trilha é linda assim como a historia e o filme em si!! Muito booom!!
Love it
The original super nanny
If a SPECIAL NEEDS teacher behaves and treats a student like this in this day and age he/she would be in jail. That is why we lose so many Hellen Kellers. So much despair, and so much ADHD etc and drugs for such illnesses.
Plain old tough love helps way better than the treatments today.
*THAT'S BETTER* @ 5:44
I remember this movie
I still it on dvd. Good scene.😊😊
Ein toller Film.
nice working
Helen Keller sit up straight right now And eat your food.
Anne is one determined woman. No matter how much Helen acted out and resisted, Anne didn't give up on her. She even tried to make Helen pick up her spoon herself after throwing it away.
so sorry for her😢😢😢😢😢😢😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
skyy jordan me too😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭she is an true hero

My wife knows ASL she is an interpreter. All 3 of my kids can talk in ASL.
she is very very very wild
She neither could see nor hear!!! if she was not angry cause she could not communicate with ...at all, she could not be HELEN KELLER we know and fortunately she was...
next one plz do 1979 version
the 1962 version is sooo much better
it has no color so its not
The story my life is an inspiratioal novel and motivation and i like it
they had to watch out for child protective agencies/child abuse
valeria rodriguez don't mean to be rude but consider this that a 16 year old girl acted as Helen in the 1962 version whereas a 8 year old girl acted as Helen in this version

YES YES YES, ❤️ This true story. It is one of my favorites. The original which debuted Patty Duke is amazing. The ending always gives me goose bumps.
She did not look 16 and did an amazing job acting as a seven-year-old little girl. She must be very short also.
إن الحياة تريد الصبر قليلا حتى تنحي ثمارها
Why this Helen Keller don't have manners
The best Hellen Keller movie is from 1962 with Patty Duke (Helen Keller) and Anne Bancroft (Annie Sullivan) (also the 1979 version with Melissa Gilbert and Patty Duke) than the Disney's.
Мне эта сцена кажется более правдоподобной чем в старом фильме всё таки она не была ребёнок-маугли. Девочка актриса прекрасно справилась с образом.

You gotta give it to her parents for not beating her ass after she broke everything.
1 : 26 made me cry
I listened to the book
I like to learn more about Helen Keller life
Original. she was almost seven years old in the book when Anne arrived.
❤
makes me hungry for eggs
Helen I told you to sit down and eat your food but you didn't listen to me get down off the table now.
Donovan Johns 😡 How dare you be mean to her!
@@GR_ThomasandFriends Anne wasn't being mean, because it was mean to let Helen think she could do whatever she wanted, to point where she was almost unteachable.
