The Knuckles TV Series Is GREAT, You're Just Mean - Review

- Knuckles is an absolute riot. Wade Whipple’s over-the-top antics give the stoic echidna a much-needed foil, and the result is a laugh-a-minute road movie that just happens to be a six-part miniseries. It’s bold, creative, and takes some big swings. And there’s some heartwarming payoff, too, as Knuckles and his hapless human sidekick grow ever closer with each passing episode. Knuckles really nails what made Sonic and Sonic 2 so great, but with its own unique style and a bit of ’80s flare. For my review of the full Knuckles TV Series on Paramount Plus, watch my video today!

Did you enjoy Knuckles or not? 👀
Knuckles show ❌
Wade show ✅
I enjoyed it
I enjoyed it! Even though it felt more like a Wade show near the end, it didn’t bother me because I’m happy Wade had some awesome character development!
Of course I did even tho wade was getting allot of screen time but it didn’t bother me that much i still enjoyed it i wish we saw rouge 😢
I really did!
There's nothing wrong with the show itself However, they hyped knuckles as if they were the only main thing...
His name is literally is in the title so of course we expect him to be the main thing, But he's barely in it. Most of the screentime goes to wade and he wasn't hyped up as the main character. We all thought he'd be handled like how Tom was in the first sonic movie.
It was mostly Wade
Its a LIVE ACTION series. Not a damn cartoon. Its obvious that the series would feature real actors.
The series wouldn't have been financially viable if it was all cgi animation.
People just love to hate (especially if those people are from Russia and China).
Exactly
Sorta like Kenobi
Did anyone else weirdly love the dynamic between Knuckles and Wade's mom?
Wade's mom lowkey was the best character in the show.
That'd be funny if she went after him. lol
NO I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT GUY
@@alguienmasbruh695”Mr. I Hate Everything”
I liked how everyone left the dinner table and left Wade’s mom alone, but Knuckles actually stayed there, knowing what betrayal feels like and he doesn’t want Wade’s mom to experience it anymore. We have never seen that side of him before.
Can we talk about how one of those Bowling Tournament Host in the last episode literally said after witnessing a showdown between Knuckles and The Buyer, he literally says and I quote that (Spoiler Warning ‼️………)
“There was a visit by an extraterrestrial in the 1974 tourney, but I don’t think he was red!”, he’s obviously not talking about Sonic & Robotnik, and 1974, that was freaking 50 years ago aka what “Project Shadow” dates all the way back to, do you know what this means?!
why would shadow be at a bowling tournament, though?
@@superluigi018because the sonic 3 movie can expand on that, we can only wait until it comes out
Shadow is technically not an extraterrestrial since he was made by humans in a lab. That being said though, Black Doom is an extraterrestrial who would have been around at that time.
Though I could also see the argument that it was the Owls, since they had to have visited Earth at some point in the past in order to place the Master Emerald there.
If the reference is to Black Doom, then we have a clear indication that BD might be in Sonic 3. And if that's the case, then that means Paramount has access to more than what was on that list of Sonic games.
*Edit:* Never mind. It was probably Shadow. He likely wasn't there to bowl, but he was probably running through the bowling alley to get away from the government agents. But the thing is, he does have red on him...
A certain edgy hedgehog
Knuckles enjoying a Jewish holiday is something I did not know I wanted to see
One thing I surely did not want to see is a nod to the Holocaust.
@hydrocityshark i havent watched it yet but if that is something that happened in the show, you'll be alright lol
@@hydrocityshark same I did not expect that 💀
It was fucking awful
@@hydrocitysharkyeah
Anyone else notice that they said “damn” quite frequently? Might be a sign if what Shadow might be like… 👀
Not to mention "hell" to. Shadow's definitely got to say the infamous line the third movie.
I definitely get the disappointment of Knuckles not appearing too much in the show that’s literally named after him, but besides that it’s still pretty solid
My opinion:
The highlights of the series for me are the CGI, the action scenes, the presence of GUN, the way they explore the fact that there are super powerful animal aliens walking around, and the interaction between knuckles and wade.
The negative points are that, especially in the last 2 episodes, the series leaves Knuckles aside almost as a secondary character, giving a lot of attention to Wade's plot. This plot could be summarized, and the main focus could be knuckles (obviously).
For me it's a series 6 out of 10, it could be much better if it simply focused on knuckles' purpose, and not erasing Wade's, but leaving him in the background.
👍
I agree with you. First 3 episodes were great. But by episode 4, Knuckles just isn't that important anymore.
@@SilverBored20And I ended up staying for Wade so… it’s probably a you thing.
i really didn’t like gun they didn’t seem like a threatening organization that could truly capture sonic and co
@@ItsTacoooTime I still like episode 4, because even though it doesn't have much Knuckles directly, it is about Knuckles
@@reubensalter8125 It focuses on the bowling tournament more than the actual villain 💀
Why was Knuckles a side character in Knuckles…
It was probably supposed to be like Sonic and Tom.
@@MacUser2-il2cx Yeah but the balance between knuckles and wade was poorly done. More focus was given to wade when he's not the title character.
@@MacUser2-il2cxbut Sonic had more screen time 😂
EXACTLY
I honestly didnt mind Wade being the main focus. I love Wade. He funny 🤷🏻♀️
Honestly I really liked it. Sure, Knuckles could’ve been in it more but his character in it was executed flawlessly like in Sonic 2. Tons of development with Knuckles finding his way on Earth. For that, I give it an 8/10. I have a feeling his new characterization in this show will be put to great use in Sonic 3
He was in character. It was more about Wade, but Knuckles evolved too. He got his cool hat.
@@MacUser2-il2cxI wish they made the hat to sell as merch. I would buy it 100%!
I love to see more of knuckles's character in sonic 3.
I agree
This show literally follows the same premise as the first Sonic movie. Which is a good thing. I don't know why some fans are saying this is "the worst thing in Sonic media". My wife and I had a blast watching this show. And we agreed that we laughed more at the jokes in this show than we did during the first 2 movies.
because after the release of the mario movie, people are expecting video game adaptations to feature a bajillion references, and when it doesnt have that, they say its bad.
@@slimgrim3607Ugh... I hated that the Mario film did that. All spectacle-no story. It was a decent film, but the references got annoying after awhile since they were so blatant.
@@slimgrim3607 maybe because we expected it to be about Knuckles and not some foolish human characters? Bruh, he's name in the title. And tbh "Follow the first movie thing and it's good", that this RUclipsr said is bs. Why we have to watch some random humans, while we have come to watch our favourite characters in new interpretation?
Because it was done WAYYYY worse here. If you don’t remember the premise of the First Movie revolved around Sonic going to San Francisco to get his rings but developed a connection to Earth through Tom but it still was centralized around Sonic but Tom was still allowed to develop his character by wanting to be a real crime fighting cop in the city and that’s where the tension was between him and Sonic develop. This Wasn’t and they didn’t go to Reno because the buyer was headquartered there no but because about a stupid bowling match centralized on Wade when there was ZERO tension between Knuckles and him. They are NOT the same!
The show was fine, definitely a solid 7/10 but it was nothing special. Basically people weren’t lying when they said it’s just Sonic Movie 1 except it’s Knuckles’ road trip with a human
Yeah. It's not a masterpiece by any means. But it's fun an entertaining.
@@Frosty_McFrost05I also had fun picking my nose too but you don't you see me raving about it
Are you fucking serious?
@@KgEclispe252 Um....ok 🤨
Right pretty much. And it also feels like a watered down version of the first Sonic Movie to. Also even the final battle plays out similarly to the first movie's final battle.
Dude, I love the knuckle series. I love how protective he is of wade and it’s so cute.
Agreed I enjoyed there friendship
Fr I really enjoyed their friendship!
Wades sister got on my nerves so badly, the acting can be a little cringy in some areas and there wasn’t as much focus on knuckles or the CG characters as I would’ve hoped but that’s typical tbh budgetary reasons and such so I can forgive that. But those are my only problems with it I absolutely loved everything else, especially that rock opera
9/10 completely
Same. I couldn't stand Wade's sister but luckily she didn't ruin the show for me. I still enjoyed it.
The line "You're basically Jewish" after Knuckles says he's the last of his kind was completely uncalled for. Holocaust jokes are simply unacceptable
What bothered me about Wanda was when she stabbed Wade with the fork, the mom didn’t say anything and Wanda never apologized
@@BanBanChi haha jew go 🔥🔥🔥
If they removed her, I would love the show even more 😂
I'll be seeing it tomorrow but the reaction doesn't surprise me. A lot of people were going in wanting to hate it when we got the synopsis because it wasn't about Knuckles meeting Rouge or the Chaotix or something else steeped in game lore.
A more slice of life style series with a focus on Wade wouldn't have been my first choice either but I'm willing to give it a fair shot and judge it for what it is rather than what it isn't.
It was just fine.
I think they're saving the big stuff for Sonic 3
If you're just looking for fun time then I highly recommend it.
@eddardgreybeard Update after literally just finishing it. Yeah, it's alright. Not amazing, has problems but it was fine diversion. The last two episodes should have been more balanced between Knuckles and Wade, Wade's sister is a horrible person, and there's a few other issues that I don't feel like mentioning but yeah. I honestly loved the musical part in Episode 4.
I'd give it a 6/10 overall.
@@JCSA79V
I think it was a bit of a run-time balance issue. They clearly have plans for wade down the road where he as a character would benefit more from this series than Knuckles, especially when it comes to a prominent character arc. In that sense and that sense alone, I would agree the Knuckles series was more about wade than Knuckles: But only in the sense that Knuckles has 30 years of content and Wade doesn't.
Even film-wise, Knuckles already established cred by defeating robotnik where Wade was a background character for two films.
They might've benefitted from 6 hour-long episodes to balance out more knuckles time but I understand why they opted for 6 30 min episodes, it would've been akin to a 3 hour film. Where knuckles was absent made sense because they wanted wade to walk on his own.
And yes, his sister was a terrible person, but even she grew to respect wade by the end.
I don't think it was wade featuring Knuckles at all when it comes to screen time, and most of the people that offer that gripe didn't want the human characters at all.
@@eddardgreybeard Yeah those are fair points. I think the episodes being an hour each would have likely harmed more than helped, so I'm fine with 30-ish minutes.
The hate for every human character other than Robotnik and Stone is definitely forced imo. It feels like 2000s game journalist critique lol.
Knuckles not appearing as much was expected, the show lasts 6 hours, and the cgi is expensive, people complain a lot about that in monsterverse movies but really, it's necessary.
The difference is that with the MV it makes sense considering how bigger the models are including the hollow earth sections. With Knuckles it’s a lot less vfx so it should be more manageable
@@Nightlizard1564
The thing is that paramount was working on this show and sonic 3 at the same time, and obviously sonic 3 had to be prioritized.
*3 hours
So? They were willing to spend hundred on high profile actors for characters nobody cares about and millions for tons of licensed songs, but they aren't able to prioritize the budget for the character the show is supposed to be about? Bullshit
Despite the complaints with the monsterverse movies, the most recent GxK movie was pretty good. Some of my most favorite scenes for Mothra, Godzilla, and Kong come from that movie now.
Also, looking forward to seeing the Knuckles show today while eating 🍕
The thing is, I was actually really glad that they didn't lean too much into making this show important to watch.
See, what I was worried about was that they were going to start doing what Marvel was doing and make every single show mandatory to watch in order to understand the movies.
I'm guessing they are avoiding that. Not making it essential to watch for the upcoming Sonic 3 movie. They basically added it to add more context and enrichment to Knuckles and Wade's character, so you understand them better.
I do agree that the show could have focused more on Knuckles and not Wade. Like, I'm glad that they did what they did with Wade. I feel much more for him and he has now become one of my most favourite human characters in the Sonic Movie universe. But I do wish that they did add a bit more character growth for Knuckles. And sometimes the show got a little bit too silly and even a bit cringy with some of the dialogue (Especially Wanda, like holy crap.)
But overall, it's a really fun time and it has some heartwarming moments. And I'm glad it looks like they aren't making it essential to watch for the movies. So I'd give it a 7/10.
It was the essence of an Archie Comic without saying it out loud. It was marvelous.
I missed out on those comics
I honestly, really liked the Knuckles show, but I do think that the critisisms of Knuckles not really being the main character, have some merit. While I don't think that he was reduced to a side character or whatever, I do feel that MAIN conflict of the show wasn't his, it was Wade's.
We spend a lot of time in Wade's bowling arc, I think more than we needed to. Knuckles' villain is not explored or expained at all. Why was the guy so obsessed with him specifically?? And I feel like I wasn't "convinced" when Knuckles said that Earth is his home now. I feel if they had cut back on Wade's storyline a little, not spend THAT much time on it and instead focused more on Knuckles experiencing more things, the way he experienced Jewish culture, then I think that would have been great. Especially when that episode is my favorite and I loved it, I also loved the connection between Knuckles and Wade's mom. I just wanted more of that.
Wade is a co-protagonist, yes, and we should spend a lot of time with him as well, I agree, but his name is not one on title and it feels like he was given more focus.
Tbf if its called knukles u expect to see knukles in it people complaining about not seeing enough knukles is valid af. I still enjoyed the show cuz when knukles was in it it was fun

I never expected the show to introduce rouge or the chaotix, (although that would be way better than whatever tf we got) but I at least expect the show to have good pacing and writing as well as a plot that doesn't make me want to rip my ears out and make me cringe and feel insulted, and is targeted towards parents that dont give af about these characters. even if u view the showas a sitcom it still fails because of the mid acting, terrible jokes and humor and bad pacing. That Sonic 06 easter egg connected with Knuckles past is really interesting to me! Movie 4 has to be confirmed after that!
What Sonic 06 Easter egg?

@@yggdrasilsaltaryeah in that musical scene with wade there was a iblis Easter egg from 06 and one of the episodes is named The flames of disaster that’s another one from 06
That honestly annoys me because they reduced it to a cheap musical. They could have done something better
Was it Iblis or the Ifrit from Rivals?
If they do more Sonic spin-off movies/shows in the future, I really REALLY hope they don't replicate the quality of "Knuckles" again. Cuz if they do, it's gonna get tiresome and frustrating real fast. They need to do different ways of storytelling and characterizations that make sense, keep the tone consistent, offer some insightful lore while still maintenaning it's fun and charm fans like. Oh, and if they wanna name a show after the character, make it ABOUT the titular character. Besides that's what kids and families came to see. Nobody likes the bait-and-switch trick.
Also, is it just me or do you sound like an IGN shill?
Couldn't agree more. This guy is whacko as the show itself.
Ngl there’s this subtle energy to the Knuckles series that really does give the statement ‘leads into sonic 3’ credit. Like Susie. Why Susie? Anyways, last episode Pete makes a finger gun at Wade and the music dims, gunshot sound effect, and instead of panning to wades reaction, it’s SUSIE in between. A little white blonde girl. Coincidence??? I think NOT!
Well when there is a show supposed to be about knuckles and it ends up being more about wade it makes sense that we Sonic fans would be angry.
This show shouldve been called wade & knuckles
Agreed. That would fix a lot of things
@donathan2933 also would've been a nice callback to sonic 3 & knuckles lol
@@codysvlogdays true 😂
Ah yes... We are mean..
Look... I like the show, but calling Wade the Co-protagonist is patently false. Wade is just the protagonist. It's his desire to win the bowling tournament that causes he and Knuckles to leave the state, them leaving the state is what prompts the bad guys to go after knuckles, and all the events that are relevant to knuckles are relevant only insofar as they affect Wade's journey to win that tournament.
Knuckles has very little agency in the plot. Mac tells him to go to Wade, and from then on Knuckles is a supporting player in Wade's story. Even his whole arc about finding a home is resolved by Wade's actions
TBC, again, I liked the show, but I also more or less expected the focus to be on Wade over Knuckles going in. Focus on the human characters has long been a way to keep costs down, and there's enough meat on that bone (the ballad, the line about aliens in 1974, etc) that I was mostly satisfied with what we got regarding Knuckles. But I fully understand why people expecting a Knuckles show felt let down with him not being the actual protagonist.
Me and my friends group feel it should have been called "Wade and Knuckles" instead, if only for the "and Knuckles" gag.
This duo was way better than Sonic and Tom. It felt more natural and I like that Knuckles acts like an adult. As for other characters; totally agree with you. The only other character that would make sense is probably Rouge because there's comedy potential with her dynamic with Knuckles.
I dunno about that.

Knuckles had plenty of screen time, and it didn't ruin the show at all! Never did I feel like wade was taking the spotlight from knuckles while I was watching this show!
8:37 WHAT????! 🤣 Sonic was NEVER a franchise made specifically for kids! I'm so sick of people thinking that about cartoons! Just because it's animated in some way, shape, or form, doesn't mean it's made FOR KIDS. It means it's made for everyone of all ages. There's a huge difference. This definitely isn't a kids show.

It’s an 8/10 for me. Could’ve used more knuckles and less humans
"Less humans" is such a weird complaint with these series of movies. They're not gonna give you no humans in these movies ever. Half of the back and forth with these movies is because of the humans.
They need more humans like Tom and developed Wade, and fewer Wanda's.
7/10
I agree. I’m fine with humans as long as they don’t overshadow the main characters
@@brandonsclips7741Also it’s such a breath of fresh air in the sonic franchise to have humans get development. I mean if Robotnik wasn’t a human the franchise would never have any humans at all.

People are so mad just because wade got more focus in this series, and I get it, I do wish knuckles was more focused, but I honestly thought the dynamic between knuckles and wade was actually pretty fun to watch. It’s honestly a pretty decent show. Plus, the only human character I do agree that we should be mad at is Chris from sonic X. Like any other human in the Sonic franchise is far better and more likable than Chris, heck even wade is far more fun to watch than Chris 😂
I guess someone wants to get invited to the movie 3 premiere. Wade was the main character. They should of called the show & Knuckles instead.
Which is funny because SamProcrastinates actually does get invited and hired by Sega on the reg, and he HATED this show so much he cried. Valid, frankly.
I have never seen a character more sidelined then knuckles and the show is named after him why did we spend more time on wade then knuckles development
It wasn’t 6 hours😭
Honestly, the only problem I have with the Knuckles series is the ending. (Spoilers below 👇)
In the end, after the Buyer is defeated, Wade takes his bowling trophy after winning the tournament (the main plot for the series) and ends with a freeze frame on Knuckles and Wade jumping in the air. It just cuts there. There is a post-credit scene, but it’s just the duo listening to the show theme. It honestly feels like the story hadn’t ended as there were some plot points that weren’t complete (Knuckles’ grounding, what happened at the Wakowski household after he left). Due to this ending, I thought we would have gotten a big post-credit scene (introducing a new character, teasing Sonic 3 or Season 2), but no. It was just them listening to music. I wouldn’t have minded a lackluster post-credit scene if the show had an actual ending, but it honestly feels incomplete. As a Sonic fan, I did enjoy the show a lot (it’s probably in my top ten shows). My only problem is just the ending. I wish they could’ve added the aftermath of the battle, whether it be Knuckles hanging out with Wade’s family or returning to Green Hills after escaping his grounding.
I already know people will call this guy biased because of where he’s filming
I watched it with non-fans of Sonic and they all liked it better than the movies. Thing is, Knuckles is a more enjoyable character than Sonic in the cinematic universe. My friends all loved the ''Regular Show vibe'' of this series with the macho silliness and 80-90s tropes. I also prefer when the Sonic characters act in a more masculine way and less like kids. I think their version of Sonic is too gen Z-cringy sometimes and i'm glad Knuckles isn't like that.
If you thought the worst part about the movie was the humans - prep yourself
The knuckles show is Awesome!!!
A lot of the human scenes seemed super cringe
Its super dissapointed. So much more could have been done creatively that they just dodged. Episode 4 felt like a big fat "Shit we ran out of animation budget" moment. We could have had a cool flashback but we didn't.
I just want another Sonic anime..
In my opinion I think the show should've been called Knuckles and Wade
Okay, i finally watched so i can talk about it... and i have to say this: going in, i was not hoping for something espetacular, deep and ground breaking. i already knew what the show was about and was okay with wade.
But...
I'm still disappointed.
The first 2 episodes were great. The action was peak, knukles is at his best in terms of caracterization, sonic and tails were good and even Wade had a interesting involvement, but at the third chapter that's where the show lost its focus and comitted his biggest mistake: not pain attention on the main thing: knuckles. We started off with his lack of purpose but at the end he never gets it. It's wade who have the arc in the story but his jorney is build in such a superficial level that we don't ever came close to really care about him. The villains were great, but we didn't see much of them
The main thing and what made me more frustrated and sad actually is that everything that is good, fun, charming and excited came from or surrounded knuckles but the show took the lamiest path and gave us a mid experience. Too bad.
I just hope that the next movie and series don't be like this.
I'm not saying the show is bad in terms of quality or anything, i enjoy a lot of jokes and the final fight, omg, it was awesome i wish we could get more of that... but the final resolt, at least for me, wasn't worth it.
Still love knuckles though.
Ps: don't mind the writing errors, i'm learning
Unfortunately, I feel that this was a missed opportunity. Padakamak is not someone who’d care about bowling and a chance to bring in Rouge was missed, which would’ve taken the burden off movie 3.
They might be saving Rouge for Sonic 3. We don't know yet.
This weird need of people to add an important character in a random show
@@gabiwolf1439 Rouge is pretty highly tied to Knuckle's story, especially in SA2 (which will be movie 3). So, it's not even close to random.
I like to think that Pachacamac is a hallucination of Knuckles and Wade
Pachacamac don' t care about boowling, he want Knuckles bring back the echidna tribe by a different way. Since echidna don't exist anymore, Knux must train other species.
Do we know for now that Rouge going to appear in Sonic 3? The answer is not.
I just finished watching the show, and it was good and entertaining. I wished in the final episode at the end they gave us a teaser to sonic movie 3, like another shot of shadow or a reveal of his voice, or a teaser of dr eggman coming back
I just watched two episodes today of the Knuckles Series, and I love them. I love the Knuckles/Wade character arc they have together as friends and I love the funny moments including the fighting scenes. People need to stop judging a book by its cover and watch the show itself! It's just ridiculous!
Here’s what I’ll say…. CGI is a lot of money and it makes sense knuckles isn’t in every single episode as often as we would like. I really liked the dynamic of the mom and him, the sister got on my nerves and no clue how she’s in the FBI when she acts like that or has no common sense, but it’s fine. Kid cudi and the woman were a funny duo for sure, reminded me of a live action of the two robot henchmen from the old school sonic.
I give this show a 7.5, it made me laugh and all and was very heartwarming with him having a family and all (more heartwarming than sonic 1 I felt to be honest), just wish they spent a little more money to maybe have wades “closure” have like a 2 part session and have knuckles maybe go back to his home planet on accident and for him to realize that his home is earth
Yeah, despite his way living with Sonic it’s so cool!
I like that they used words like "pissed" "crap" and especially "HELL" AND "DAMN"...you know what that means 😏
Wade picturing how cool he would be with the fireworks was the funniest thing ever
I have very mixed feelings about it, but honestly I'm feeling more disappointed than anything.. Not only were most of the episodes kinda uninteresting to me, but some parts honestly feel disrespectful to the franchise..
I binge watched all six episodes and let me tell you I enjoyed each one.
I liked the show, 7.5/10. However, I would have liked to see move Knuckles in his own show. This is especially true for episodes 4 and 5, where he would only really appear at the very beginning and end of the episode.
I haven't watched the Knuckles TV show yet because my Parents currently have a Netflix connection so that me and them could watch what we want to on that streaming service before going back to getting a connection to Paramount+. Then I will be watching this show to find out what my opinion on it will be. I have been looking forward to that and the reveal that Wade Whipple is getting more focus in it than Knuckles, doesn't bother me much. Unlike other fans, I didn't get annoyed when I heard about that.
my only issue is firstly wade and pete where on the tenth frame and pete got 9/1 shouldn’t he get his third shot. i also felt like the ex gun henchman weren’t all that interesting as i feel like you could make it so they are trying to learn more about sonic and co for an upcoming raid on their house to capture him. which would seamlessly hopefully lead to an sa2 inspired opening for sonic 3
Wade was enjoyable and I did enjoy like 2/3 of his episodes but I think we should’ve had more time with Knucks 😔
ep. 4 was butt. 💩
The fact they reduced Iblis of all things to such a corny story is annoying to me
One of the best days of my life! Went on a field trip today and reunited with my middle school and elementary school friends and made some new friends and after I was done talking to them we all went on the dance floor and on the stage and we started dancing also the food was pretty good there we had pizza and cookies and then after all of that after school I sat down on my couch and watched all six episodes and I really enjoyed it it's a pretty good show and I recommend it.
Someone: more like the wade wipple show
It's a genrous 4/10 at best.
I just finished the show, kinda liked it. the only problem is that they are leaning heavily on the comedic side
I have mixed feelings about this show tbh. I mean, it's a fun ride, I enjoyed meeting Wade's family and exploring the dynamic between Knuckles and Wade and how their friendship developed and all that stuff... but there's a glaring issue the show never addresses that could have been fixed if they had just added TWO MORE MINUTES to the first or second episode.
WHY DO MADDIE, SONIC AND TAILS NOT REACT TO KNUCKLES RUNNING OFF??
Would it have been so hard to add a two-minute scene where Maddie calls either Wade or Knuckles himself trying to figure out where he went? One of her kids literally ran away from home in response to being grounded, she should be out of her mind with worry right now.
They think hes in the attic.
@@TheFnafdude1987real They have to have gone up to check on him once in a while. He still needs to eat, and Tom and Maddie don't strike me as the types to use starvation as a punishment.
I completely agree with you! My only complain is that the ending was kinda rushed...I get that some people wanted a more "traditional" knuckles story but what the show offers is really entertaining and fun. It also put knuckles in unusual situations that really works for me.
The show is called knuckles ffs 😂. Watching how Nintendo are handling the super mario bros movie this shit is EMBARRASSING on the sonic brand.
@leonsmith4845 They are different products...One is a live action and the other one is an animated movie. A lot of fan's complains about the show and even the movies make me think they want an animated movie (which is something I would like to see one day too ). However, these movies are NOT it, and you have to judge them for what they are and not what your weird fantasies of a sonic movie should be. If you don't like it, that's fine, but I've seen people said "This is the worst peace of media," which it's just been dumb and hateful.
@@tomysan9217The people that this show is the worst piece of media clearly didn't watch Velma season 2 which aired the same day as Knuckles.
Its like a 6/10. I really liked developed wade, and think episode 4 unironically really good
But knuckles didn't have anything to do. Even when helping Wade he didn't really need to be there.
Theyre never going to not give people humans. People saying "why are their humans in a sonic thing" are stupid. They're never gonna do that.
They need fewer humans like the suits going after knuckles and wades sister, Wanda. Seriously she's terrible.
Humor is also hit and miss. But hey its a thing for kids and humor is subjective.
Action scenes were cool as well..
Its better than i was expecting tbh
I completely agree, and for me what shined in this series was that they addressed, in certain parts, the view of normal people in relation to having aliens walking around, something that wasn't much explored in the movies, one of my favorite things is how GUN is involved in the series
I enjoyed it but it did have it's issues, 1: Knuckles not appearing a lot and not having much of a spotlight, it wasn't the worst and honestly it was pretty expected just knowing there was gonna be an extra main character. The biggest problem i had but i know they need character development and stuff for wade or whatever his name is, but there was no reason to keep knuckles so...like, in the background as much as they did. it wasn't really an issue but it also was, it reminds me of how they did chris in sonic x. Although chris never overshadowed anyone based on their appearances or lines or what not, he still managed to just kind of be there when he didn't need to be especially in the adventure arks. 2: the lack of sonic and tails was expected especially already knowing and getting a heads up that they would not really appear in the show like at all, i still think they could have been there a little more. Like maybe from episode 1 to 2 and then they don't appear anymore. More of a nitpick really but one i will say. 3: I truly think wade was a very good character and you can connect with him but same problem as the first one, he just kind of takes the spotlight. To me it just feels like knuckles was kind of only there because his name was on the show, or at least for most of the episodes it feels that way. Even though i was kind of expecting that and most character focused shows always run into the issue it seems, especially with the first season of these types of shows. It feels like knuckles wasn't really there and that's a huge issue for me, don't get me wrong sonic movie 1 ran into the same issue but they did it much better by having both main characters basically always on screen by the time they were together. And while sonic movie 2 also did that i'll be it a tiny bit better but also worse, it was waaaay better compared to this. And i feel like they should have learned that lesson by now about which characters should be on screen the most, knuckles not being there a lot is fine but it should have been handled a lot better. Especially based on how long we had to wait for it to come out, and you could argue the same thing with the first movie of this version of sonic. But that was the FIRST not like.... the third or mid y'know? Anyway yeah i liked it despite the issues i have with it it was really good, although i never once thought about the idea of the chaotix being there but i did think maybe rouge although not likely would have appeared. But i wasn't surprised certain new characters didn't and if they were they' did it was probably a really background thing.
The show is about wade and knuckles is playing the sensei role to wade in a kung foo kid/karate kid thing.
I haven't watched the Knuckles show yet, but I'm hearing that the humans take up more screen time than Knuckles himself and also that there's israeli political propaganda bullshit in the show. This doesn't give me any hope for the show at all, even as someone who's going to watch this show for free online with the lowest of low expectations.
Israeli propaganda?
@@Xenox02-vu9rq bro thinks learning about Judaism is the same as Zionism. That is honestly really antisemitic and I'm a pro-palestine person.
My favorite character Wades FBI sister 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
FED! GLOWIE! FED!
I didn’t hate it, but I think the Knuckles show was by far the weakest piece of Movie Sonic media so far
I didn’t need them to go all in with fanservice, heck I would’ve enjoyed it if it was just Knuckles traveling around and getting up to random shenanigans with minimal plot as long as he stayed the focus, and it’s not like he had to be in every scene because I know that’d be way too expensive, but the amount of long stretches where he just didn’t appear made it not that great as a Knuckles show in my opinion
I will say I don’t think it was bad as a show in general, it was alright, and I found parts of it entertaining, but again the titular character just doesn’t play a part for long stretches which wasn’t really a problem in either of the two previous movies and that was something I expected at the bare minimum, plus The Buyer wasn’t in it much either and he was the villain I was most interested in seeing, but I will also say that the Jesse and James-like dynamic of the ex-GUN agents was fun
It’s a pretty mixed bag in my opinion
This series is okay
It’s not perfect
Buts it’s ok Wade getting character development and knuckles helping him
I like Knuckles the Echidna. He’s one cool character!
Agreed
I’m gonna watch it right now since I just finished work
i absolutely LOVE Wade Whipple and I am very excited to see what kind of role he may have in future media.
Knuckles and Wade's relationship is very much a two way street. While Knuckles is teaching Wade how to be a warrior, Wade is teaching Knuckles how to be a little bit more "human." Knuckles has a LOT of character growth within these short 6 episodes and people don't really seem to see that.
"Basically the show is good if you're not planning to invest in the character that's being marketed as the focal point."
Good video and good take. I searched this up to understand the opposing side's take, but ultimately, I still just feel extremely mislead.
Am I at fault for wanting to get into the history of how the Chaotix team formed? and for not keeping up with the showwriter's announced plans to not expect Knuckles to take part? Would that not have been more a more relevant plot? Is there anyone that genuinely said:
_"Gosh I REALLY want a full Wade Whipple adventure. That would be so much better if the majoritiy of the Character Development went into him instead of the person that was used to market the show. Chaotix? Pfft who needs it"_
I know they didnt have the big budget or anything, but this discussion would never happen if the show was named "& Knuckles". At least then we'll suspect that Knuckles isn’t going to be full star of the show. But currently, I feel lied to, and now gaslighted into thinking I'm not the target audience for this show. It's Paramount Halo all over again.
Hopefully Wade will have a much bigger role in Sonic 3.
I don’t know why but I was so into Wade’s story and I felt rlly bad for him because of the trauma, he went through and how no one ever believed in him to the point where I was excited to see Wade on screen so to be honest, even when knuckles wasn’t on screen, I was still satisfied with the show bc they rlly got me invested in Wade’s story I think he’s a great human character. I did wish for more Knuckles but Wade’s story rly made up for it imo
Knuckles was fine, but seriously hes in like 47% of the series and his fight against the buyer at the end sucked. Also the soundtrack was trying WAY to hard to be gaurdians of the galaxy or shrek. Almost none of the music fit this show or its tone...
I liked the musical but I wish it has the actual Knuckles
The show should have been called „Wade“
Knuckles was great it’s the other characters that weren’t well Wade’s mom was awesome I really enjoy her.
Honestly I enjoyed the show quite a bit. Maybe because I’ve always liked Wade and wanted to see more of him. Plus his friendship with Knuckles was awesome. The ending did feel rushed though. Hopefully we see their friendship continue in Sonic 3 and beyond.
Do you think they could have done a good character focused show or movie about The Chaoutix? What is even their origin story?
I’m just a bit disappointed that we didn’t catch a glimpse of Shadow. Although, there is a part that hints at his… well, history.
Honestly for the best that they don't make serious connections to the movies in spin-offs like this.
First Kid Cudi made a song for Sonic movie 2 & now he is in Knuckles
I don't have Paramount Plus so I haven't watched it yet
Do I have to Watch the 2 movies before I Watch the Knuckles show ?
Might be a good idea to do that so you know what's going on before watching the Knuckles show.
The Bowling announcers mentioned something similar happened in 1974, with a different colored extraterrestrial. if you do your math, that's 50 yesrs ago from 2024. Shadow the hedgehog reference :000
Rouge being in this series could've been a perfect way to set up her role in the 3rd movie as one of the villains, this show was decent but it has lots of missed potential imo
I came for Knuckles and I was given the Wade show....the comedy got stale fast and knuckles gets sidelined in his own show was a terrible idea.
Watching this video after Sam procrastinates’ stream is so funny
I appreciate the Cosmonaut Variety Hour reference in the title :)
STOP SETTLING!!! No, it was not good. It was deeply insulting to sonic fans on all accounts. Remember you are setting a PRECEDENT with these reviews.
We could be having incredible adventures about Knuckles' past, the echidnas, or the intergalactic planets and species teased in the movies. INSTEAD we got a bowling sitcom centered around obnoxious human characters while Knuckles himself was sidelined with no real impact in the plot.
Is this what you really want going forward? MORE humans? Less Sonic characters? More immature jokes? Less scifi world building? Do we want the Shadow spinoff to be a road trip with Rachael or a space battle against aliens like Black Doom?
I get that fans are starved for content but have some dang respect for this series. We fought HARD to change sonic's original movie design. We have power and a voice! Now's the time to fight hard once again for better shows and movies about ACTUAL sonic characters. Or the next show we get will be even worse.
STOP SETTLING!!!
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT. Watching how the Mario movie goes all in on the talking mushrooms and floatin blocks its embarrassing that they cant make a talking animal with super powers movie
Amazing how "don't tell them it's good enough when it's not good enough" doesn't reach some people. They'll defend it loudly, then when the next Shadow series gets revealed and it's more of the exact same, they'll be the first to get upset
@@leonsmith4845 Its about time sonic fans realize the stuff we've been getting since 2019 is a the bare minimum improvement of the meta era just because its mediocre and not totally bad.
think about everything we have gotten in the last few years, The sonic movie, sonic frontiers, Sonic origins, Sonic Color ultimate, Sonic prime, Sonic dream team. Sonic superstars, All of these have been called a "step in the right direction" How many "steps in the right direction" Do we need? Its been years at this point. People have to stop settling for mediocrity. We are in an era of MID, Its worse than the meta era because people actually used to call out when the games weren't of quality standard.
We should have more than what we are getting with the quality of the stories. But everything has felt so bland and safe. especially with IDW, Non of that stuff is actually gonna matter in sonic lore aside from some catchy reference that is made through dialouge.
The shadow generations game is gonna be no different when it comes out. yet another re release port that barley improves anything from the original game and instead adds paywalled content that modders could have added themselves in less time. But hey I am sure the 100th reference to when sonic was actually cool in the 2000s will state the hunger fans have, instead of actually making new stories that matter and have a lasting impact.
Exactly This ☝🏻
You are rewarding nothing more than product jammed corporate mediocrity.
One of my favorite parts in the show is the subtle hint of a certain question regarding G.U.N. from the Buyer. That being that G.U.N. may have been recent but it was called something else before Sonic’s arrival. I cannot be the only one who was asking how G.U.N., who became a thing in the franchise as part of Shadow’s backstory, was recently ‘made’ after the end of Sonic 1 in this universe.
Also, I love the musical. Best part was the mention of the Flames of Disaster and how they involved you-know-who. Was scared they were going to ignore that tidbit.
I was unsure how feel at first but after rewatching it, I actually really enjoy it and the episode 4 musical was really creative in foretelling Movie Knuckles's past imo. It may be how most people wished it was portrayed but it seemed fun overall.
I really enjoyed the Kncukles show because it was funny and gave us a good chance to dig deeper into Knuckles and Wades story. They are a good dynamic duo and the story and animation was almost as high quality as the movies. The only major thing is Knuckles should of had more screen time. I want to see more spin offs. It was also interesting that Iblis is mentioned bringing him into the SCU and I wonder if the motorcycle that Knuckles is riding on might get stolen by Shadow in Sonic The Hedgehog 3.
