Gary Wright passed away last month. I was a little kid when this song came out and I remember this song because it reminds me of an older brother I once had and I would hear him and his girlfriend doing "I don't know what" in his room when he played his albums, and this was usually one of the songs.
RIP Gary🥹 y’all so dang cute! I love watching you guys interact 🥰 that song had me dancin’.. and remembering 😊 keep on watching the 70’s music.. Best era for Rock n Roll!
Chaka Khan does a cover of this, but at a much faster tempo. Like a club song. You mentioned "dream weaver". You should try it. It has a dreamier mood. Also "I really want to know you".
This is definitely a love making song! My husband is 62 and I am 61 and we always listen to music when we love ❤! Probably the reason we have 4 kids and after that we both got fixed 😂! Now they are out of the house, it’s on like Donkey Kong! Music is love that you share with your soulmate ❤! Been married 35 years, so that’s a lot of music 😊
Oh boy ! This one took me back in the day...hadn't a care in the world and was just enjoying life...living and learning. Gonna be 60 on the 16th. That tells the age of this song. Killer tune. Thanks for sharing. Blessings
1:46 Ya, Gary has/had (R.I.P.) that effect on the ladies back then. Looking foxy and digging the tunes. He made ya tingle a bit there, didn't he? I've seen that spell since the '70's! The knock out punch is Dream Weaver to follow up with.
This album came out right after I graduated from high school. I remember jammin’ out to this on my little portable 8-track player in my car .. 😁❤️. I thought it was amazing that all that music was made by keyboards except for the drums.
Gary Malcolm Wright (April 26, 1943 - August 30, 2023) was an American musician and composer best known for his 1976 hit songs "Dream Weaver" and "Love Is Alive". Wright's breakthrough album, The Dream Weaver (1975), came after he had spent seven years in London as, alternately, a member of the British blues rock band Spooky Tooth and a solo artist on A&M Records. While in England, he played keyboards on former Beatle George Harrison's triple album All Things Must Pass (1970), so beginning a friendship that inspired the Indian religious themes and spirituality inherent in Wright's subsequent songwriting. His work from the late 1980s onwards embraced world music and the new age genre, although none of his post-1976 releases matched the same level of popularity as The Dream Weaver. Wikipedia. ✌️🎶
When I was a kid and glanced at this image, even though his eyes are closed, my first reaction was, "Whoa! Dude's got some sort of white blank eyes or something! That's too creepy for me!"
Such a great song. It's so funky and soulful and hot. I always took it as a song about someone who finally found that one great love we all dream of. And he finally feels alive in that love.
I think he's saying his spirit has awakened, and he feels alive with all the right feelings! It was a good time in the seventies, as many people "love's were alive"! Spiritual awakening in the Seventies. Gary's Dream Weaver is about God waking him up! Or the Spirit moving him! The seventies were a really good time for spiritual awakening, as proven by Gary! Chakras, and just general overall feeling good!
My middle daughter used to think that the proper way for a day to go was to wake up about 10:30, have a bite to eat and then go back to bed until lunch. She was incredibly grouchy if you woke her up early. And then school started. She had some teachers who claimed that they didn’t know she could smile because they had her in the morning. End of the story even now, it depends on the time of day what her mood is going to be and at 35 years old I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
Yall have a merry Christmas all the way from Memphis ✌️😎 Also: check out Little River band -Lonesome looser or he’ll really anything they do. Lol Lastly: Cry of love is a great band a lot of folks forgot about
Angela, you went on forever...mayne you cluld write a book. It will be called...my love is alive. A porn book. And I wish you guys would stop saying...My Love is Alive.

News to me. Sad to hear. Rest in peace. The man. I think love is alive is just a little bit better than Dreamweaver lots would disagree perhaps
The 70s were such a great decade for music great songwriters musicians, before MTV

Rest in peace, Gary. ❤
The riff was sampled by 3rd Bass in Wordz of Wisdom.
Gary Wright's music was the soundtrack of my teenage years. I had this album, and there wasn't a bad song in it. Rest in peace, Gary.

Great song. It’s one of those songs that come on and just hits your ears in a different way. A song you can groove to in silence.
You'll definitely like " POWER OF LOVE " by GARY WRIGHT 1975 . He left a Legacy of Wonderful music 🎶 🎸 for all of us to enjoy. R.I.P. Gary Wright.

About a year ago you did his "Dream Weaver".
This song brings me back to a simpler time. I know there are some who agree.
Before on his own, he was with Spooky Tooth, who had some pretty good music imo
I think he's saying his spirit has awakened, and he feels alive with all the right feelings! It was a good time in the seventies, as many people "love's were alive"! All keyboards and a drum machine. That's it!!!
You can't beat this song and "Dream Weaver". Have you guys heard that one?
Nothing like a seventies groove! As a teen then this was very important to me. :)

You are the most beautiful woman alive. ❤
Gary Wright was proud of the fact that he used absolutely no guitars on his music. He even bragged about it on his album covers.
I keep expecting him to open his eyes lol
Cliff Richard -"Devil Woman"
