Both are great, but I like the top end character you were getting out of the Marshall. Maybe it's just an EQ setting difference, but the Friedman sounded darker. At the end of the day, you're choosing between Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate; just depends on what you're in the mood for. Great shootout!
I've always said that the SS100 is Friedman's best amp....especially the Ver 2. which has a spectacular plexi channel....super percussive. There's a really fine line between the two (as far as the video goes). It may be a little more obvious in the room. The Modded Marshall wins by a hair. Fun video to watch.
Its an honest review. No processing. I like it this way. Of course I could run this all through a load box and IRs in my studio and make any amp sound great.
friedman has more of that note definition. I prefer that overall as a guy who likes to write riffs. At a certain point I just realized theres a place for every amp and so there really isn't a perfect sound. I think I lean towards more definition and a decent amount of distortion but theres a point where I dont want thud or a skinny tone, I like a denser feeling note and clearer fundamental. That being said I find myself always being impressed with some mesa's because of their dynamics and sustain.
There’s one thing you’re doing wrong in this video and since you’re a guitar player you should know what it is. When watching videos like this I like to watch the players fretting hand and picking hand also, otherwise it can get boring. Turning your back on the camera is like Steve himself turning his back on the crowd during a show. Just tryin to help you improve your videos 🤓
Man, you have some nice amps!!
Thanks
Sweet, all of it !
That cab is the same color as the mkII head that got away nothing like a LP and Marshall!

Both amazing amps! Different voicing, with the Friedman a darker an smoother. The Gower is more aggressive and has mas snarl. Congrats!
Great video this

the gower has a brighter more aggressive snarl
WHat spkrs are in that cab?
Guessing some sort of Greenback? If they’re in their stock form.
He said, "stock greenbacks".
And that is all without a boost pedal?
Straight in
Gower for the win. Easy
Twice gain but twice hum.
