Oryx is the only Hive that has ever scared me. Not even Crota scared me. I personally thing Eris's "rock" is a shard of Willbreaker encased in a stasis field, because from what I've seen (and I have checked about 8 times), a tomb husk doesn't have that floating bit in the center. Edit: If she is collecting tomb husks, maybe she's harnessing the energy and converting it to light, slowly trying to build her Light back up to become a fully-fledged Guardian again?

It's definitely not Toland's Soul... it's a tomb husk a piece of chitin. why would his soul be a chipped piece of hive shell? Especially knowing the circumstances of the last sighting of Toland it would make no sense for eris to be in possession of his soul. If anything it is Eris' way of contacting her hive God who I think is Nokris. I think she gave us swords not as a gift but as a way of tricking us into tithing to her hive God through sword logic.
Toland Beyond Good idea but instead of Nokris sabatoging Oryx through using Guardians and Eris, it would be Savathûn:The Hive god of Trickery. Savathûn has tried multiple times to trick Oryx and damage him as much as possible to teach Oryx a lessons be it temporary or perminent death, it's what Savathûn would try to do. There have already been 2 major attempts to trick people or Oryx and that is when she attempted to cut Oryx's Line of Tribute and tricked Crota to releasing the Vex in the Throne World. Each time could have brought Oryx to death perminently but Oryx caught on fast enough, this time however he did not. Savathûn had said they should distance each other but she could have said that and convinced the other Hive Queen to leave Oryx to make Oryx feel like he doesn't need to watch for his sisters when Savathûn would be orchestrating another move from afar.
That would make sense. Since Eris and the Queen are working together and the Queen has connections to the 9. I have personally thought that one of Oryx's siblings became one of the 9 and when you connect all of that Savathun makes a lot of sense to have been working with Eris and/or the Queen.
I really like that theory, however after having watched Myelins videos for a while, I was surprised by the lack of evidence. I hope we learn more about Toland and Oryxs sisters in the next Destiny game. Thanks for all the hard work though!
I actually thought for a while that the stone was Toland's journal. I took the word "Journal" to be a dimple metaphor. However this makes a bit more sense, as the journal seems to be a simple audio log.
This lore is just keeping me happy, there are rumors of me and it is making me very sad. But seeing all these videos is making me kinda happy, hopefully other people that are let down will see your videos and become at least a little happy.

You think we be able to travel into the Throne World in Destiny 2, a quest by Eris leading to her orb opening a great ancient Hive Rune. With the collected husk shards the orb has enough power to open a permanent portal to the throne world. Then and there be greeted by Toland, probably. As he mentions he was redefined, like how risen dead humans, awoken, and exos were redefined as Guardians. Or would we get a Hive version of Varik? Old Wizards for life...
I believe that her husk is the 'soul'/light energy of her fireteam Tarlowe,eriana, toland etc, but she has it because she one day revive them through a hive spell, which we KNOW exists and maybe she know the sword logic, that is why she asks for that bounty item, maybe it still has hive power inside maybe she wishes to become strong enough to create an incantation of the hive to revive her lost fireteam. Anyone elese notice a theme with warlocks, how they always get lost in some sort of alternate demention/timeline i wonder if they'll all converge at one point and we can figure out how to bring them back
using the ideas in this video, I think that there could be another taken king whom oryx leaches power from. The narthex accessed through the shield brothers strike that leads to the drednaughts core. The core seems to have a hive crystal that is very large it may be that that holds the soul of the "true taken king" the cabal may have waken it up during the shield brothers strike. As the crystal looks like power is flowing through it and when oryx was killed the hive God gained it's its powers back. this could explain how the nexus was taken

With the right shader that helmet lights up really bright which was the inspiration when I changed my gamertag early last year. Then the name was adopted by accounts on other things that I had. For the profile pic I just took a picture of a light bulb into MS paint, cropped the light bulb from the original picture, drew siva in front of a black square, moved the light bulb over that and voila. The ability to jump time lines It's proven to work because of what was brought up in the paradox mission along with the ending of HoW main story line.... Now that I know more about the hive they are interesting but the vex is where my real curiosity of destiny lore is.
Jaya Ganesh the books of sorrow gives most if not all of the history of the hive. You can read them your self or listen to an abridged version on RUclips... Another reason I want to see more lore on the vex is because we never got a true history of them. They are the only ones that showed up out of nowhere with little motive to invade... The fallen were trying to take back what was theirs, Cabal we're expanding an empire while also exalting the wrath of oryx, and the hive have their story with the darkness, but the vex are just there to spread like a virus that is fueled on jumping time bridges and a dark blob that has three god like things and Atheon who is a vex lord who is tough AF to kill (lore wise).

Eris can use the darkness like guardians us the light, it's how she teleported the guardians and what's in her rock is the darkness or one of the souls when they went down into the moon might be tolands
I have two theories. One is she's using the power to act as A replacement to her lost light to keep her alive and to use her powers. The second one is the queen she speaks up at the end of taking king is who she speak to. Maybe a little of both theories.
Hey Myelin I have a theory for you on what Efrideet means when she says other ways of using the light besides a weapon. The other way is giving life. Think about it, the Traveler would give life to barren worlds using its light. Using the Ghosts it gave life to the dead as well. The ones who taught her this way were pacifist guardians, they won't use their light to kill or harm so what other ways can you use the light besides doing what the Traveler originally did
I do think it could be toland but also there is another possibility. Erris also talks of a queen at one point so what if her rock is a piece if one of oryx's sisters crystals. They want oryx killed and since he crippled them and they and erris have the same goal maybe they struck a deal and tought her everything she knows and they are the ones talking to her.
I have one question that i think this is the best place to ask: How come Voidwalkers are not able to "learn" how to make a bubble or shadowshot? how come Sunbreakers cannot "learn" Golden Gun? and dont tell me its because of their personality or whatever. I mean they are using a type of light and they are able to manipulate it as/when they see fit dont they?
If Toland is communicating through the rock, it is unlikely that Eris can communicate back. Toland states that he wonders what became of Eris; "she was very tenacious". So it does not seem that he communicates directly with her, but leaves messages in a bottle that may use the rock as a conduit.
Well the cut scene at the end of Regicide and with everything Eris does I wonder if Eris will be an enemy in Destiny 2 or Destiny 3 (if they go that far).
It would be so dope if we could have the hive overworld as an exploaration space in Destiny 2 (or some other Destiny game because I doubt they will end it with just a second game now)

nokris was betrayed by his brother and father and left in the vex dimension after crotas mistakes as such hes helped eris get his revenge, the reason nokris isn't in the book of sorrows is when vex banish someone or something they might not be able to erase something on the dreadnought since its a hive throne world so nokris has no body but due to a remnant or piece of history of him being around he can communicate with eris SUPER SPECULATION
I honestly don't think Eris communicate with Toland but to an ascendant queen of some sort. Theirs a good chance that Eris serve/communicate to one of Orxy sisters through her rock.
I think Eris is storing her own soul in the rock, since she doesn't have a ghost to revive her anymore. That, or she is maybe holding one of Oryxs sisters souls. But that doesn't make much sense.
There is a loose end that gnaws at me, a single point of interest. After killing Oryx the first time in the mission Regiside, Eris is shown taking the empty crystal from Oryx's sword, and she says: "My queen... you were right. The guardian was the key. For the first time, the whispers are silent. It is done. I have accepted my fate. I will not fail." It seems to me to imply that she is being guided by someone other than Toland, a queen. there is only one queen I know of, and she has been known to study, and torture hive for dark secrets. perhaps the queen discovered through Toland's journal, and Eris's council a way to ensure that if she were to die, that she could return. Remember the bungie team commenting about the queen not being dead despite the obvious destruction of her fleet? There is almost certainly more than meets the eye here.
ZetherCore I always thought she used that crystal to make our sword since in every version of it, another crystal exactly like the one Eris took is just above the hilt

Eris can use the darkness like guardians us the light, it's how she teleported the guardians and what's in her rock is the darkness or one of the souls when they went down into the moon might be tolands

I have two theories. One is she's using the power to act as A replacement to her lost light to keep her alive and to use her powers. The second one is the queen she speaks up at the end of taking king is who she speak to. Maybe a little of both theories.
Hey Myelin I have a theory for you on what Efrideet means when she says other ways of using the light besides a weapon. The other way is giving life. Think about it, the Traveler would give life to barren worlds using its light. Using the Ghosts it gave life to the dead as well. The ones who taught her this way were pacifist guardians, they won't use their light to kill or harm so what other ways can you use the light besides doing what the Traveler originally did
I think that the rock IS a tomb husk because it looks like it and looks exactly like eris's rock right when it's placed

I do think it could be toland but also there is another possibility. Erris also talks of a queen at one point so what if her rock is a piece if one of oryx's sisters crystals. They want oryx killed and since he crippled them and they and erris have the same goal maybe they struck a deal and tought her everything she knows and they are the ones talking to her.

I have one question that i think this is the best place to ask: How come Voidwalkers are not able to "learn" how to make a bubble or shadowshot? how come Sunbreakers cannot "learn" Golden Gun? and dont tell me its because of their personality or whatever. I mean they are using a type of light and they are able to manipulate it as/when they see fit dont they?
If Toland is communicating through the rock, it is unlikely that Eris can communicate back. Toland states that he wonders what became of Eris; "she was very tenacious". So it does not seem that he communicates directly with her, but leaves messages in a bottle that may use the rock as a conduit.
I always thought the shard ball worked similarly to the Palantir in Lord of the Rings.
Well the cut scene at the end of Regicide and with everything Eris does I wonder if Eris will be an enemy in Destiny 2 or Destiny 3 (if they go that far).

It would be so dope if we could have the hive overworld as an exploaration space in Destiny 2 (or some other Destiny game because I doubt they will end it with just a second game now)
Myelin Games at the last taken king mission where you kill oryx there is a cutscene where Eris removes a shard from Oryx's sword and proclaims that she will not fail.
this shard could be the last needed to power Eris's rock and bring back Toland.
After Cayde-6 "kindly" "asks" Eris to remove her rock from the map.

old wizards.. I'm also hoping that in destiny 2, he might make a return, or we could get more lore/game play for the hive. Cause most of the game starts centered around that faction, we had a few missions in vanilla, the dark below, and the taken king.

nokris was betrayed by his brother and father and left in the vex dimension after crotas mistakes as such hes helped eris get his revenge, the reason nokris isn't in the book of sorrows is when vex banish someone or something they might not be able to erase something on the dreadnought since its a hive throne world so nokris has no body but due to a remnant or piece of history of him being around he can communicate with eris SUPER SPECULATION

Old wizards can brag about there greatness and powers, toland would not need to do such a thing, hes already magnificent full of wisdom.
I'd love to see Eris and Toland turn on the city and by using Sword Logic replace Oryx in a huge story arc in D2.

I honestly don't think Eris communicate with Toland but to an ascendant queen of some sort. Theirs a good chance that Eris serve/communicate to one of Orxy sisters through her rock.
I think Eris is storing her own soul in the rock, since she doesn't have a ghost to revive her anymore. That, or she is maybe holding one of Oryxs sisters souls. But that doesn't make much sense.
im almost positive its toland cuz of the cutscene after you kill oryx in the storyline in the regicide mission
There is a loose end that gnaws at me, a single point of interest. After killing Oryx the first time in the mission Regiside, Eris is shown taking the empty crystal from Oryx's sword, and she says: "My queen... you were right. The guardian was the key. For the first time, the whispers are silent. It is done. I have accepted my fate. I will not fail." It seems to me to imply that she is being guided by someone other than Toland, a queen. there is only one queen I know of, and she has been known to study, and torture hive for dark secrets. perhaps the queen discovered through Toland's journal, and Eris's council a way to ensure that if she were to die, that she could return. Remember the bungie team commenting about the queen not being dead despite the obvious destruction of her fleet? There is almost certainly more than meets the eye here.
I love the idea of toland and everything about him I would love nothing more to see him in game 😃
Have you talked about who Eris is talking to at the end of Taken King? Mara Sov or Oryx/Aurash...or someone else entirely.
So is that why Eris took the crystal after we defeated Oryx?? Does she need it for her boyfriend or something??

Personally in my opinion I don't think it's allowing her to talk to toland I think her connection with the hive is the voices she hears not voices but a strange understanding I think it's just a tomb husk Aris just keeps it around because Tolan said you're going to need this to get around in his journal
while this is just speculation I find it extremely fascinating, I'm really hoping this will be cannon in destiny 2, if toland is mapping the hive netherworld the information gathered would be beyond extremely valuable to the vangaurd, if they dare to study his findings
