I just love watching Paloma, her confidence is just . . . contagious. That said, not her best cover. I'm not even sure Florence could pull this song off and this is her genre. It's not an easy song.

I just saw a clip of Jesse Malin on Saturday Sessions w/Lucinda Williams performing Dead On from his excellent 2019 release Sunset Kids, where she duets on a couple of tracks, which she & husband produced. There's a bassist who looks like that to me, too. Than why are you hear? To tell people you're not a fan. Go elsewhere then for your music instead of coming just to be insulting. But what your comment really say's about you is that you have a thing for someone you'll never get and it's easier to convince yourself that your not into her than to face reality.

Harold Machroli Doubtful. He may have been able to play the hell out of his guitar but he wasn't all that great of a singer. He was better known for is genius as a musician.
Whether good or bad Hendix's voice is what gave the song its signature feel. Bob Dylan has a horrible voice but perfect for his songs. Listening to his songs by polished singers isn't necessarily an improvement. Janis Joplin is another example. Polished voices can sing what she does but no one sings a song like Janis. I see your point but have to agree to disagree with you. With all that said, I still think Paloma has an incredible voice and is a great entertainer.
I love Paloma's voice, but I wouldn't necessarily call it polished. Certainly not on this performance, which is pretty raw. I think she captured the spirit of the song wonderfully well.

You really have no ear or appreciation for the music. No 2 artist sings the same song exactly alike... She did a hell of a good job on this song and Jimi Hendrix would have been very proud of her. Maybe next time try and listen to the song and enjoy the performance rather than watch and compare performers. She said he influenced her 4th album... obviously she's a fan and long time listener of Hendrix too... like most of us that came to this site to hear her perform this great hit.

The bass player is Andrea Goldsworthy. She's been in Paloma's band since 2008.
