- The Beer Heights Light Railway is one of the longest 7 1/4 inch miniature railways in England and has been running since 1976. We take a ride through the Pecorama tourism site, owned by model company PECO, in this exclusive footage from the front of 'Jimmy', a Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive built in 1986 and fitted with a Kubota 2-cylinder engine.

Wasn't sure if this was the real deal or a minutely detailed, trompe-l'oeil model layout on a giant table. Suspiciously neat buildings, stiffly trimmed lines of trees... then at 4:35 a bird flew across the line in the middle distance and I thought 'That's no toy'.
The looping route makes the distance covered seem far longer than it is. The variety of scenery helps the illusion. This is an accomplishment of landscaping as well as engineering.
VERY nice! LOVE the scenery!! I would LOVE to ride this someday. Cheers from New Mexico USA!
Train was passing slowly that is why it felt enjoyable & energetic too while viewing. In short it is effect of monsoon.
This has to be one of the best little railways in the UK. Fond memories of taking the children here 20 years ago.
What an exceptional garden railway! It has everything and, it being Devon, if you are not going steeply up, you are going steeply down. Very cleverly laid out with a variety of landscapes.
Yes, and through these charming landscapes, continuity of the "driver's eye view" was unmarred by the careless use of GoPro. Meaning the sudden, disquieting swiveling to the right or left by the turning of the driver's head.
Very beutifull with impressive by feeling in view of the journey.. So good 😍❤👍
Super catch😍❤

Outstanding! Loving the signals.
I'm 71 but for 12odd mins I was 7 again really very,very good!
really beautiful
Magnificent! Amazing!
What a feat of Engineering and Preservation!
A small pity that the video stops a little short of the final destination.
How interesting. Never heard of it before
I wish I had to lay out like this on some property, I would definitely have some train stops along the route. It would be so much fun.
Much prettier than when I recently strapped my mobile 'phone to the front of my 1/16 scale Leicester tram (9cm gauge) and took it round the horsehoe of the garden- behind the shed and all the tall bushes that have now obscured the tramway!
Wow! What an amazing railway! And to be honest, one that I’ve not heard of. Pity you didn’t show the engine hauling the train at the end, but absolutely brilliant!!!
You can read about the locomotive 'Jimmy' over on the Pecorama website. It recently had a repaint into InterCity Swallow livery but was previously blue. It's a firm fan favourite, even if most of the visitors go for the miniature steam engines.
My God I could play with that all day, total heaven.
Veľmi prekrásne natočené video 😇😇😇😇😇. Perfektné , super 😇😇😇.
Srdečne pozdravujem zo Slovenska 😇😇😇😇🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰.
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Very impressive. An outstanding little railway.
Brilliant need to visit again we all love it there my grandkids need to experience this treasure
Thank you for sharing this video
Just excellent!! Well done to all those involved with this railway.
Interesting. A view of the Engine and cars would help as well as an overhead view of the layout.. 👍🏻💙
You can read all about the railway's rolling stock on the Pecorama website.
Beautiful workmanship!
The diesel sounds very nice.
So Dovetail is just going to post cool train stuff from this account now? Awesome!
Awesome , Thanks W.A.R 😀

Es más que un tren de jardín,de principio a fin es mega hermoso, con la mente viajando ,explosión de energía,,salud y energía desde Veracruz, congratulations.
7:18 that squirellll?☺️
3:38 I guess that's a spring switch!
BELLISSIMA
Cheers from Texas
Amazing
I guess they use trailable points, because at 10:23 the point was definitely in the other direction.
They do, all trailing points on the line are spring loaded like this.
Good Lord!
How frightfully exciting!
It looks like there are some really steep inclines on this track. Maybe a miniature train has better traction then a full-sized train.
Great scenery, but pictures of the motive power would be v interesting, otherwise it seems like a lawn mower.
The Pub Railway lol.
As in Beer, Devon?
The very same.
Never knew!!!
I’d love to drive a train around this track really fast, with lots of carriages, is that possible?
Haha! They do offer driving experience days on one of their steam locomotives, but all at safe speeds with empty stock. Google: Pecorama.
I have done the driving experience, you don't only drive the steam engine you light the fire and do checks + food !
I played it at 2x speed, got close to the monitor and felt like I did just that. But it was too slow, lol.
Where is it located? can you point it on the map?

Hi Valerie, this miniature railway is owned by Pecorama and is situated at Beer, a coastal town in East Devon, England
Should somebody be picking up all of those PINE CONES?
Seems a bit untidy.
They do, but this was filmed during a period of maintenance and closure during 2021 when it was not open to the public.

Devon
The town of Beer in Devon which overlooks the fishing village of Seaton on the south coast of Devon
charming
a lot of investment, not only in track but also civil engineering, ground work, tunnels, and landscape. Is this a money making operation or a hobby?
It's a tourist attraction: Pecorama
Also beautiful gardens .
@@raychambers3646 Indeed.
It is run by Peco which is a manufacturer of model railway equipment
Not round that severe curve.
Cowabunga dudes

HAH ! HAHAHAH !!! ( MARTIAN TRIPODS ! )
7:20 I think I've seen too much Jurassic Park.
👀 This made us jump when we filmed this! Living on the edge...
ད
hire a few hundred italians to ride on top, and pretend they are mexicans sneaking into america!
What scale is this and How many miles is the trackage?🛤️
It is 7 1/4 inch gauge and runs for approximately 1 mile
@@Jack-jh2to Wow, if I owned land and property I wud love to have a train layout similar to that.
