Translation
A Guru was moving with his disciple on the bank of river Ganga. Showing a
piece of wood, which was being taken away by the flow of Water, he said to his
disciple- This will reach to the ocean with the flow of water. If, on the way of going,
to stick with the bank, sinking in the water due to great heaviness, to be caught in a
whirlpool and separation from the water of the river, these four obstacles do not
come then only.
Guru preaches further to the disciple- We all people are like pieces of wood.
Our life is the river. Family is like the flow. There water flows in the form of love.
Living life in own family, we, as the pieces of wood, can definitely reach to the
ocean like the world which is full of joy, if the four obstacles do not come.
The disciple asked-What types of obstacles are there in our life?
Guru preached. In life like river food, sleep, fear, etc. have become the bank.
Sticking on the bank means continuous action in serving food, sleep, fear, etc.
Indeed, food and all things should be served, then also continuously sticking there is
an obstacle. Continuous activity in food, sleep, fear, etc. becomes an obstacle due
to which we as the pieces of wood cannot reach to the ocean like the world which is
full of joy.
Social dealings are like heaviness. Even though social dealings are expected
from everywhere, they should not be done surpassing the capacity. People who
perform social dealings surpassing their capacity, they sink only due to great
heaviness. A person, who is sunk, cannot reach to the ocean like the world which is
full of joy.
Drinking wine, a game of dice, eating tobacco, the act of stealing etc.. bad
habits have become the whirlpool in the life of a human. A person who has fallen in
these cannot come out. So always efforts should be done to not to fall in these.
People who have fallen into bad habits, floating even they wander at one place on
all sides. Their progress becomes obstructed. Then they cannot reach to the ocean
like the world which is filled with joy, etc.
Turning away the face from the family is only the separation from the water
of the river. Generally living in the family, we are capable to reach to the ocean like
the world. But if a person turns away his face from the family due to selfishness and
anger then He, who is separated from the water of the river (Separated from the
love of family), can never reach to the ocean like the world which is filled with
knowledge, happiness and joy.
People, who are protected from these four obstacles, can definitely reach to
the ocean like the world which is filled with knowledge, happiness and joy.
