From my 4 years of having an R33 (RIP) stay away from cheap coil packs, they’re all junk. Also with the Freddy intake get the mating surface machined flat, they’re normally all warped to some degree! Been admin on the Skyline forum for a few years so I’ll send you a PM to see if you need workshop manuals or anything like that 🤙🏻

I just ordered an series 2 (1.5) r33, any recommendations on a turbo swap for a bit more power? And is the Freddy intake worth it for budget purpose for someone mechanically inclined?
Edit: the r33 was swapped to a neo engine. Would this make it more difficult to get parts for?
Depends where you are, in Aus the hyperflow atr43g3sat is a great upgrade for a bit more power, capable of 400hp. You can also send in a donor rb25 turbo and they can highflow it for you

You really gotta appreciate people like jimmy when it comes to attention to detail. Every video doesn’t disappoint when I watch how he treats even the worst of parts so.... nicely. Props.
stock turbos that get high flowed are good for around 300kw-400hp on e85 those turbos work best. depending what gate you use and spring in gate. ive had that set up before my current forged rb25 build. the fake greddy intakes can cause cyl 1 and 2 to air starve. ebay ones usually warped get them to machine it flat. while you had exhaust manifold out should of got a turbosmart external gate put on there or even on turbo exhaust housing. make around 440hp with that. oem coilpacks work the better than splitfires. walbro 460/ fuel pump relay. since you gone forward facing might as well go 1000cc top feed injectors. turbosmart fuel pressure reg. 3" straight through exhaust. intercooler 300x600x76+ rb love it. 2.5"-3" cooler pipes. go haltech ecu! and while you got motor out might as well do the whole timing service kit. good luck
I've been binge watching your videos especially on your R33 RB25 build and I must say this guy knows what he's talking about. I'm waiting to receive my ER34 Skyline from Japan and I envision a build for my RB25 similar to yours.. that turbo flutter is sick, giving me so much motivation and hype for when it arrives but my first mods will be all about drivability/handling, going to be replacing all of the suspension, axles, bushings with polyurethane, bearings, control arms, repaint the wheel wells etc. to make it look fresh and once it's driving like a new car, next step will be tearing down the engine and performance time. I absolutely love your videos buddy!

A friend of mine has a Freddy manifold on his gtst(polished) and works/looks great. Just make sure the flange is flat, clean up the casting and polish/paint it and it's golden.

LZ switched his intake manifold on his rb25 so maybe he'll give you a deal on that part instead of the Freddy™
He was using an adapter to run rb26 ITB’s but it wouldn’t stop leaking water, and it took up too much space in the engine bay... I wouldn’t recommend it. Not to mention ITB’s are a pain to dial in
@@zerohourdrift that makes sense, ITB's are better for throttle response right?, I would assume it fits better in the r33 bay but if it leaks water then yeah that's bad
@@yazantuffaha7018 technically yes they do improve throttle response, if you can dial them in properly, which Adam said he’s always had trouble doing. And I mean yes if it were a direct bolt on the ITBs would fit well in a 33 bay, but the adapter plate makes it hard to fit because it adds like an extra inch I think. I mean a 32 bay and a 33 bay aren’t much different width wise and they had to dent the plenum to fit it in Adams 32

Cool thing about the "freddy" mani is that its basically a rough casting that just needs some massaging to get right. As long as there's no voids in the casting, grab a Dremel and smooth out the rough casting on the inside and then port match it and its all good.

You can paint the valve cover the color of your R33. That dark red looks nice and would blend nice with the black you painted on the block/manifolds.

Definitely get the Freddy face machined flat as they’re typically uneven and don’t seal. Also while you’re there you can always do some port matching as the freddys ports are typical smaller than the engines intake ports. Also while the engine is out, best to do a head drain as you’ll regret not doing it later

cracks me up all you americans finally catching up on the RB game. stever murch in NZ recores the factory rb25 turbo with holset internals for 10+ years and will see 500whp with literally just injectors fuel pump fmic and exhaust on a factory ecu with nistune chip or daughter board.
Sammie hit the nail on the head.. Valve covers should always be the same colour as your brake calipers. It's basic colour coding 101.

I ran a 450bhp fully forged RB25 (in an R33 GTR shell) and a few words of advice.
1. The rockers covers polish up really well and look super cool.
2. while you have the engine out of the car fit new exhaust studs, they are prone to snapping as standard, more so when you run more heat through the turbo.
3. wing and baffle the sump, if you are going to use the car hard you will thank me.
4. don't bother with a bigger TB that the RB25 Standard one, it is good for about 700bhp, running bigger makes for worse throttle control (I ran a QX54 - one of the biggest mistakes in my build)
5. Subaru injectors are a good upgrade for the standard Nissan items, used to be a really cheap upgrade back in the day. (standards are 370's IIRC so not enough for the new turbo)
6. port match the inlet ports on the head to the intake gasket - there is LOADS of material you can remove to improve flow.
7. standard HG is probably around its limit at 500bhp so you will be running close to the wire there.
Have fun - I loved mine (I had 6 R33 GTSt all together)

you should get a vapor honer because of all the resto on used parts you do. Put that air compressor to good use!
Nice "Hydro turbo" setup.
Did it also few years back on an BMW E90 320d. The "Hydro turbo setup" got 177kw on the wheels, more then 177kw the auto transmission starts to freak the fuck out.

When you take out the rb20 get a rb25 head to put on it. You can get good power out of the rb20 bottom end
Those intakes aren't bad if you cut them open and port match the ports. Port the throttle body and smooth the inside. Tje weld it back together and clean it up.the really do work so much better
With the freddy intake you should powder coat it white so that i makes with the wheels and you dont have the casted finish on it.

Hybrids are common on the VW side. MQB makes 500+ easy with fuel and a redrilled housing with stronger internals.

Should have got a plazmaman top half intake. Split the stock intake. Don’t starve cylinder 6 with a Freddy. And you keep low end torque with the stock bottom half of the intake manifold
While its still out of the car you should get a head drain kit for it so you dont have to do it later on
Use paint stripper and strip the coating off the valve covers, then i'll make em shiny
