This is a good thing. Look at what’s happened to Minecraft; everyone thought that the world was gonna end but because Mojang made money, they were pretty much left alone. For the same reason, I doubt that Bethesda will be left alone, because unlike Mojang, they aren’t consistently profitable. I’m praying that Microsoft will renovate Bethesda studios... hopefully their games become more polished and their brands more active
hopefully they just let Obsidian make Fallout, I suppose the one good thing out of this is that Bethesda executives will think twice before making a shitty decision.

They said themselves they will honor any games that already have been dealed to come to playstation example (ghostwire Tokyo & deathloop) & other that are already on multiple platforms like the elders scrolls online.. etc but any future games they really don't have at all since Sony's player base is dwarf by mobile player base(xcloud)& PC which are platforms that have been added to the xbox ecosystem. The only reason companies like Microsoft aren't being torn apart by anti-monopoly laws (other than corporate greed and corruption) is because they typically have a big competitor which tells the world that they can' t be a monopoly with such an important rival (coke and pepsi run by the same principle). Thank you for reading this random post.
Laws in general enable monopolies more than they restrict them, anyways. Monopoly and trust busts are barely enforced unless it's somehow beneficial for the government, which it isn't in the massive majority of cases.
Coca-Cola and Pepsi also have different business strategies. Coca-Cola only deals in beverages and markets its flagship drink with appeals to tradition and comfort. @Aírmanareiks It can sometimes be harder to update an engine than create a new one. Its not like all the source code from the prior engine is obliterated when you make a new one.
@Aírmanareiks I would like to point out you are the only one talking about the concept of "new engine" = throw out all your old code, don't reference or reuse it, and start from "scratch". This is just something that doesn't happen in development and nobody has said this here. I can't say that 100% since I don't work for these companies yet, but I look at my old projects all the time for references at the bare minimum or even copy over code from them for new ones. It sounds silly for you to suggest that someone said otherwise. The idea of pure "from scratch" likely doesn't exist in the dev world.
This is either a management control move from crisis based on Bethesda's recent almost business suicide, or, Bethesda was on a fastrack to shrivelling into Oblivion, pun intended, and Microsoft figured it was worth enough to at least own.

Which means solid nonfluctuating year round source of revenue. Which means micro transactions, subscription services etc. Fuck our customers we want someone to buy Us. Hopefully now that zennimax has sold. Microsoft will be able to cut that shit out.... hopefully.

okay so what happened is zenimax decided it wanted to sell the company sometime after skyrim came out. they attempted to quickly raise their net worth before going on sale by making games with paid microtransactions. this worked well for fallout 4, doom, and elder scrolls online. thus they decided to to create the abomination that was fallout 76. they wanted to show any prospective buyers "look we put a secondary team on this game and not only did it turn out decent but the turnover rate was much higher than many of our prior games" if bethesda didnt fuck it all up with greed and incompetence i would think microsoft would have probably paid closer to 9-10 billion

ESO isn't that bad actually though like all MMOs it can get stale after a while, I think alot of the criticism comes from people who never played it or just don't like MMOs.
okay so what happened is zenimax decided it wanted to sell the company sometime after skyrim came out. they attempted to quickly raise their net worth before going on sale by making games with paid microtransactions. this worked well for fallout 4, doom, and elder scrolls online. thus they decided to to create the abomination that was fallout 76. they wanted to show any prospective buyers "look we put a secondary team on this game and not only did it turn out decent but the turnover rate was much higher than many of our prior games" if bethesda didnt fuck it all up with greed and incompetence i would think microsoft would have probably paid closer to 9-10 billion
I hope cloud gaming never becomes ubiquitous. I prefer not to lose my games when I stop paying the monthly fee.
Retro gaming may be the only way in the future.

I was startled by the fact about Google, so I looked up the market cap of Nintendo (68B) and Sony (97B), and Google's assets (276B). Google could buy both and still have enough assets to buy EVERY publicly traded company in New Zealand (108B).
