Why is this not National network TV? I could imagine several countries (and their expats watching),fantastic (again) and looking forward to the next one, well done Gerry and Murray.
Thanks Edward - hope you enjoyed it - if it was shown in other countries - subtitles may be required ;)lol Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
The production values on this channel are off the charts. Fantastic stuff. I've walked a lot in England and Wales, but I've got to spend more time in Scotland. Wonderful!
I always look forward to a new video on the channel, I know the quality of it, from production, content, music etc is going to be first class and I've never been disapointed!
“We were going to Kayak in but there was an outbreak of common sense. “ :-) That’s a great expression that I’m definitely going to use! Terrific video!
D'ya know, all the spectacular views, all the drone footage and all that Scottish loveliness, and what do I concentrate on? The Haggis, Neeps and Tatties pie! Wow! What a stroke of genius!
Man, I don't know how old your father is, but I did notice a man would have to hustle and not dilly-dally to keep up with him, he wasn't messing around! You could tell he was doing something he enjoyed. When you get old and aren't as mobile as you once were, think of all the wonderful memories you will have! Of you and your father, and of Scotland! Wow, I'm big on family, and blood, and I can see you're a very lucky man.
Its a special area for sure - some of the best mountains in Scotland up there -what they lack in height they make up for in grandeur :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Climbed Suliven in Sept 21, had waited 18 months after planning in early Mar 20. Absolutely well worth the wait, stunning views and a beautiful sunny day. Great to see this today 👍🏻👍🏻
What everyone else said, but also it is nice to see your great outdoor partnership. Sharing those experiences as a team just makes it look extra special.
Steaming Boots at their very best... well done Murray and Gerry. Surely deserves a wider audience. Thanks for taking the effort to film and of course edit such a great video.
Great video Murray. Nice to see Gerry again too. Good idea about taking a photo where your father took one. Hopefully the weather will cooperate next time.
Another great adventure, love the banter with Gerry. Definitely on my bucket list, like you I want to follow in my father’s footsteps. Looking forward to part 2 of your adventure
Images bring beauty to life, your content amplifies the perfection that is Scotland in your cinematography. A planned trip is rapidly turning into looking for Highland properties for sale. Thank you for bringing this for us to experience with you, stunning!
Thanks Murray. I'm always glad to see your video pop up. What's not to love about the peaks of Assynt. Shame you didnt manage the photo you wanted, but theres always another day. Love your banter with Gerry. Take care and happy adventuring Alioban xx
Thanks Alioban, its was a fine adventure and I am sure we will have another fine adventure when we return to Suilven as we need to experience those summit views at some point :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
This video was absolutely magical, seeing the weather with the fall golden sun casting that beautiful glow on everything and everyone was spectacular !
Beautiful, I've been waiting for that one. Suilven is one of my favourite mountains, done it twice now and had good views, disappointing you didn't get views. Thanks for your videos, they are all so professional.
The videos produced are of a very high quality, i always look forward to the next video. Keep up the fantastic content, you show the world what a beautiful place scotland is. My ancestors (The Hamililton clan, Fathers side!) would agree Scotland is a land steeped in history , mystery and beauty.
We were just up there two days ago. Came vea the falls from the south. Beautiful day right up until we started the climb and the weather closed in. Made it to the top, still worth it! Beautiful place we'll captured in your video. Amazing! Thanks Murray.
Hi Murray an hi to Gerry too as always your content is impeccable ty so much for letting us share your adventures an it has also gave me a few ideas for walks for me an the missus to try as well stay safe mate
Shame on me 😯 ... why this is the first time i have seen this mountain or even heard it's name, regardless of this you managed to sell it to me, added for sure to my bucket list, fabulous work again also. 👌
Climbed Suilven after a night in Suileag bothy in July 2005. Misty start but we climbed above the mist at the start of the gully & were treated to that unbelievable view. Remains my best mountain day ever. Long drive home to Durham though !
@Scotland's Mountains - I've just watched a 2017 film called "Edie" in which Sheila Hancock plays an 83 year old widow wanting to climb Suilven. A wonderful film which must have used that very bothy in some of it's shots when she stayed overnight out of necessity. It just caught my eye since I've cycled from Garve to Scourie and beyond to Thurso via the north coast and this and the film brought back so many happy memories of how "lonely" and peaceful that north west corner of Scotland can be......the silence is deafening (apart from, in the day, there being the odd RAF Buccaneer flying about. As always thanks for these videos and your enthusiasm. 👍
Well done Murray and Gerry. I camped on Caisteal Liath during a climb of Suilven, definitely Scotland's finest mountain. That wall is a 'destitution wall', built by starving Highlanders about 1840/50 in return for food. When you look at the size of those stones, how did they get them to the top of one of Scotland's most remote mountains? The path is much improved recently but the climb up the Bealach Mor is hard going. Regards
Watched this video twice now. Brilliant as always. I can appreciate the effort put in to your videos. You always manage to find the right balance between footage, bits to camera, drone shots and images.
Absolutely fantastic video, Suilven is still on my "one-day" list, Murray- you must walk miles extra to get all these great shots, once again many thanks for sharing.ATB
a few extra miles are done going back and forward to get the camera !!lol dont mind it too much when the landscapes are as spectacular as this ;) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
I hope you noticed my expert pointing on the inside walls in the main room. I did the last MBA work party before COVID hit then did Suilven on a much better day for views. You definitely need to go back :)
Murray that was just stunning. Again! Thanks as always for sharing. Would have loved to have seen the photo of your dad then the one of you but another day another adventure. Stay safe.
Thanks Paul , I think I'll keep the photo from the next time we go to Suilven as we will definitely be back for sure :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
That was just wonderful...I'm back and it's going to take a wee while to catch up on all your ''days out''...I certainly have missed them...and now looking forward to the next days adventure...😁🧗♂️
I've heard in other countries that have similar huts dotted around and the polite thing to do is make sure the fire can be easily lit and there is a box of matches somewhere where you can reach it from the floor with several matches sticking out of the box. This means even if you're crawling in with frost bite, you can still reach the matches without having to open the box and light a fire. I heard of one story where someone left just this then actually got caught out and had to use it himself to survive.
My new favourite 😍 youtube channel!✨ Catching up on all the videos. Many hills, mountains, and bothies I have seen. So Lovely to come across people with the same passion for our beautiful country ❤
Wonderful film as always. I remember the walk in from the east and up to the top of mountain and then bog hopping trip back to the Car. A very magical spot for me & Christine. Thanks again Murray can't wait for next week.
Can you imagine the hardships endured by those wall builders, no heavy equipment, bad weather, beats me how they persevered! Looked a nice Bothy. I started out Biving in my 20's moved over to tents in my 30's, now 3 days shy my 58th Birthday a nice fire and a dry bed looks good😎. I have only stayed in a Bothy once for 2 nights, but it was a good experience. One I intend to do again.
Another excellent video Murray. It was great to meet you guys! Glad to see my kayak on the car at the end made it into the video. You should do Canisp next time also, great views back towards Suilven 👍🏻
Great meeting you too - hope you had a great camp :) We discussed climbing Canisp and doing it from this side would make it a bit more of an adventure from sure . I've done it a few times from the east and the views to Suilven from the top are stunning - a mountain landscape to die for :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Ah one of my favourites, glad you enjoyed it despite the mist. A special place for me. Placed a rock on the cairn for my nan passing a couple of years ago. Lovely lovely place.
Fantastic mountain to climb. The walk in builds the anticipation. Was there when the path was being upgraded the guys who did it walked in and out every day. Weather when I was there in May 2018 clear blue sky 24 C managed to find a little stream on way back to top up water..
Nice one Murray. Brings back memories of a few years ago. Slept at the bothy in the room you were in on the bench next to fireplace. Luxury. It rained heavy with thunder through the night and if its any consolation after the slog up Suilven we had strong winds and rain. So turned back from the wall. ATB.
Assynt truely is a Shangri-La and once again you document your adventure there superbly 👍👍 How often do we climb mountains in the clag only for them to clear once down - still it’s an excuse to go back 👍 Stay safe and look forward to see where you and Gerry went next.
Superb footage Murray and what a way to start the video. Absolutely stunning area of Scotland and cracking use of the drone. Shame about the clag and the rain but still a belting video. As always thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Thanks for the great video lads and full marks for taking that extra time to square away the Bothy for the next visitors. PS: Murray, please set up a business guiding on all the best walks in Scotland. I would put my name down for your business any day. Your local knowledge is second to none and your company would be an added bonus.
Ah, Assynt!... Shame you didn't get the view, Murray but as you say, you can go back. I was surprised to hear you'd never been up there before, by the way - I had you down as a Munro / Corbett compleater! I was B&B'ing in Lochinver and walked in and out to Suilven in the day, up to the bealach from the north via Glencanisp Lodge and back down round Fionn Loch. That was a very, very long day. The path up I remember was very poor, very loose and slippery - looks a bit better now. It was high summer and was possibly the worst day for midgies that I ever had on the hills - I remember being totally knackered on the route out along the beautiful R Kirkaig, but I couldn't pause for a moment as they instantly descended... It was superb day, though, that sticks in my memory. This would have been late 80s or early 90s, I think, not long after the pie shop opened and I dined there in fine style most evenings. I'm delighted to see they are still going strong! Happy memories, and thanks for the vid!
Great video of you both, love the Assynt mountains, was a magical day when we climbed Suilven in May 2019, shame you didnt get the photo at the wall. Lochinver pie shop 🤗
Amazing video gents, thanks so much for sharing. Suilven and Assynt certainly is the most stunning of places. It was certainly the highlight of mine and Dads trip to the Highlands this summer! 😀⛰🥾🏴
Suilven looks great for a camp. Seen so many people do it. I definitely think Assynt is the sort of place to save for the clear days. Nothing more annoying when the only time the clag is in is when you're on the hill. Always great seeing both of you together exploring Scotland. Stay safe and ATB.
This is a fab stretch of the west coast of Scotland. The mountains are phenomenal and awesome. We climbed Quinag using our ha nds and feet to ascend and coming down a fifth part of our anatomy was put to use! Great fun. Saw buzzards and golden eagle pair in flight. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this journey Murray, once again a delight to watch and enjoy your adventures. I agree with another comment, this content should be on national/international TV. TO see such beauty of Scotland to the world be amazing. The adventure travel industry in Scotland could pay you to do this and you could give up your day job. Thanks again.
Thanks for posting this video. It brought back fantastic memories for me with two mates about 8 years ago. The views from the top were incredible. Keep it up!
Well done guys , it was nice on the way up, pity you lost the views at the top but like you say it gives you an excuse to go back . That pie looked good lol ..Top stuff Murray ...cheers Stevie
Just discovered your video's, and i am thoroughly enjoying them. They bring back so many memories of hikes and expeditions during my time in the Boys Brigade, and my attempt at my gold D of E award.....unfortunately not completed as foiled by a boot stuck in a rabbit hole on Lairig Ghru, fall, and torn cruciate ligaments left knee.

Another wonderful video Murray. It reminded me how long it is since I stayed in a bothy, 1980s, and that I still haven't done Suilven, but one day eh!
