    Thank you! I'm purchasing my first 24-70mm lens and was really surprised that the Canon lens doesn't have image stabilization. Your video was one of the only I found on this topic, and helped guide my decision. Thank you!

    Without wanting to question your photography knowledge and skill,just by curiocity asking.
    Did you turn off the stabilization on the Sigma while on shooting on tripod.
    It plays a major role on the final image.
    Thanks a lot :)

    Based on the title, I was hoping for more than one test of the stabilization than the example on the one wheel. esp since most uses will not be in those conditions 🤦🏾‍♀️ Ah well..

    • @rynfilms
      @rynfilms  4 года назад +2

      I understand. I figured if it didn't help in a stable situation, there wasn't much it would do for handheld. 🤷‍♂️ Sorry I could be of more help to you Shelby.

    The image stabilizer on the lens is really designed to handle those micro jitters while shooting handheld. I thin the one wheel experiment is definitely pushing it past the 4 stop axis that it was designed to do. Not a bad video, but kind of testing outside the parameters on the sigma I think as much effort as you put into that setup. Handheld stationary fxied on a subject at 24-35,50-70 would have been more informative.

    RYN, Thanks for the video. Was great to see the comparison of the Canon vs Sigma 24-70mm 2.8. I just purchased the Sigma as a general carry everyday lens, because of the price. Wanted to also say the entry video was awesome work! Well done.

    This is quite interesting, I do automotive photography and was interested in the sigma as I've been craving some optical stabilization for my rolling shots, if it doesn't really do well on foot I doubt it'll do well when I'm hanging out of a car at 70mph

    Great video thanks for posting. Looks like both the OS and DIS are really there to remove hand jitters rather than emulate a gimbal. How does the Sigma’s OS perform in pans? Does it jump or does it drift smoothly?

    • @rynfilms
      @rynfilms  4 года назад

      I can't say for sure for the Sigma, had to send it back. In my experience, IS or OS has not been great for pans, a tripod with a well adjusted fluid head is your best bet. 👍

    Really nice intro movie Ryn - great work! I have just purchased the Sigma 24-70 Art a few weeks ago and so far, I'm loving it for video on the EOS R. I had the Tamron G2 and whilst it was a fantastic lens too - particularly for photo (on par with the Canon I thought), I sold it due to the heavy vignetting in video that was unable to be corrected in camera, meaning I had to always correct in post, which was a pain. However, EOS R does have lens correction for the Sigma. I find the OS works really well for ironing out the micro handheld jitters and works great for panning. It's ample sharp enough for video and the occasional photo shoot (as sharp as the Tamron G2 where it matters), and I really like the way the lens renders colour, contrast and out of focus areas. I did also noticed the lens was not as bright as others at 2.8 - as you noted in your comparison - this is a shame it doesn't let as much light in. Still, It's a great companion to the 18-35 F1.8 Art and my primes.

    • @rynfilms
      @rynfilms  4 года назад

      Awesome to hear! I was surprised with how much darker it is, I wasn't expecting that. Good to know about the vignetting on the G2. It's the same reason I didn't buy the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 III. I have a friend with that lens that gets terrible vignetting with that lens.

      Hi I'm looking forward to buy a 24-70 2.8 for my eos R for photos and mainly videos. I wanted to buy the tamron G2 but now reading your comment I'm a little bit confused. Is the vignetting present all over the focal length at 2.8 or 4? Is it so unmanageable? Thanks

    • @PromoMoviescomau
      @PromoMoviescomau 3 года назад +1

      @@EmusicFrench IMO No point buying a 2.8 lens to shoot at F4. If you're a video shooter, definitely try and test the G2 lens for your own shooting purposes before buying, so you can see what you are dealing with. For me the Sigma has been by far the better choice.

    I have the Tamron 24-27 stabilized lens. I think that it is an overall better lens then the Sigma and equal to the Canon in picture quality and then stabilization works very well.

  • @dawidnitecki9143

    There is one BIG difference with RF vs Sigma EF versions - canon lens is much LESS shaky since the combination of lens And ibis work together. You get this (hand)+ icon shown. Meanwhile with sigma you have NO „+” sign, meaning stabilisation of lens And IBIS do not work in pair.

    • @rynfilms
      @rynfilms  2 года назад

      That is true! I was using the EF version without IS for this video. I'm still torn on upgrading to RF since I really enjoy having the drop in ND filter behind the lens with the EF mount adaptor.

Would be nice if you can compare the Canon Eos R+Ninja V to the Canon R6 (and maybe Canon R5). The difference and benefits? ✨ it’s a bit to expensive these days to buy a new camera 🙂

    Hi. Great comparison ! Are you able to make some comparison of stabilization between this Sigma and Canon 24-70 RF or between Canon 24-70 RF and EF ? I've heard that this Canon has excellent stabilization and wonder if it is worth to buy RF version instead of EF (I'm not making videos at all... only photo).

      I don't have the RF version so I can't make that video at the moment. Perhaps in the future. I can guarantee that the RF is better though. 👍

      I haven't spent enough time with that lens to say for sure. If you're deciding between the two, mostly you'll have to decide what is more important to what you do, the extra stop of light or the extra 35mm of zoom. Sorry DeWayne, that's the best I can do for you on this one. 🤷‍♂️
