  • A light-hearted 50th anniversary documentary on the original 1969 movie 'The Italian Job', revisiting Turin (FIAT Lingotto, Palavela, those church steps) and recreating the Mini Cooper car chase scenes (albeit with a remote control car and some match box toys) through the Piedmont capital.
Contains dodgy Italian pronunciation and some rather bad driving.
PS - more on The Italian Job film locations in Turin can be found at: www.theladytra...
PPS - to the true fans of the movie and the minis: I do apologise for using modern BMW models here (I couldn't get models of the original minis).

Great film showing the many amazing places connected to the film. I used to work across from the Palavela and there was not a day I looked at that building and didn’t think of those three mini cars being chased by the hapless police fiat. Thanks for sharing.

I do remember the rowing club and the river...it became a long walk...to the bridge...it was Oct. 2019 - I remember it well; when my Air B & B cancelled my room as I was in the take-off position at the George Best airport in Belfast...it was the start of a great adventure in Piedmont...where I never drank any wine nor visited a vineyard...

but, I did see someone driving the replica of James Dean's car and ran after it to take a photo; but the traffic lights changed and it disappeared, leaving me exhausted in a side street gesturing to locals about the significance of this event; to my amazement they looked in non-excitement - blaise or ignorance...

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Piedmont area. It's such a beautiful part of Italy, and thank you for liking my video also. I hope AirBnB compensated you for the inconvenience of cancelling on you at the last minute.
Much as I love Italy, I don't think I would have the nerve to drive a real car there. It was difficult enough navigating the remote control one! x

0:15 - "...to drive like Michael Caine in 'The Italian Job'". Except Michael Caine doesn't drive in the chase sequence. He just sits in the passenger seat and barks out unnecessary instructions and criticisms at the man who's driving.
