What’s up Justin, long time lurker and we have some mutual friends! Love this pedal. I remember cranking it in front of my old deluxe reverb and I swear it would make the thing sound like Zeppelin with the knob all the way out and up. Kind of a desert island pedal, and maybe the best one keeley ever made.
Yeah, the fully out speed knob, is just a two stage jFET, mid bumped overdrive pedal. The Katana Blues Driver had a nice sound, like a Boss Blues Driver, with a Keeley Katana in it, for mid boost. I just don’t understand why people are paying so much for used V2 Katanas, when there still V2 new out there, for $199. Folks are paying close to, snd in Europe, much more for used ones. Even the limited edition ones, like ones that are limited edition artwork for only one store, are selling new for the same, or used for less than a normal used V2. It’s absurd.
Between those two I do like the Super Clean! Honestly though the differences between the clean boosts won't make much difference as it's mainly just making your existing tone louder!
It's a Neunaber Inspire, on that tour John used it to emulate rotary. He actually started off with the Lex at tour rehearsals but the Neunaber kicked it off!
They work best with strats and their lower output single coils. It really works well pushing the signal before other drive pedals. I never use it when i play humbuckers tho. They are already pushing enough
For the love of christ will you please talk faster and more concisely, stop repeating yourself. I'm watching you on 1.5x speed and it still feels like I took a Xanax, every video is like this
Way I see it you got 2 options cause I certainly ain't gonna take anything like this as motivation to change how I make my content. 1. Sit back, relax, and watch it. 2. Don't watch and find the information elsewhere (which ya won't). I really don't care which you pick.
@@JustinJeske oK or you could take the criticism and stop talking like youre giving a nervous school presentation. while we're at it can you please explain how you acquired all this gear from the inception of your youtube channel, and are presumably not a musician? No shade just genuinely curious as to how you got/can afford it before you even had any audience
Maybe that’s just the way I talk dude. RUclips is just something I do as a hobby. Some days I literally go to the office, hit the gym on the way home, eat dinner and make a video, then go to bed. It’s a lot of work actually. That said the Channel now makes a little cash to help fund gear, but really it’s just because I have a full time day job. So to put this into perspective of how big you have to get to be able to turn something like this into a primary income, it’s rather difficult. I mean it’s the dream, but for now just a dream. I’ve actually turned down a lot of paid and sponsored content. If you’ve see other RUclipsrs promoting gear all at the same time or anything like that, odds are that company reached out and I turned it down. It’d make the Channel more money, but it’s not worth sacrificing my principles or creating content that my audience doesn’t get any value from just because I get free gear or a cheque. That’s really as far into that as I’ll ever get.

Recently got one of these, I find it best after overdrive but before reverb , delay and chorus. Awsome boost
Makes me wonder how many Katanas John has sold for Keeley. I've had mine since 05'.

Ah man, these are the most useful and fun videos of their kind. Keep it up fella!
Man I owned one of those for about 3 years, something like 10 years ago. I have not thought about this pedal in a decade. It was dope.
The Keeley Katana and the Xotic RC Booster are two of my favorite dedicated clean boosts out there. I have never tried a version 1 Katana, however.
Just found out about your channel and binging it all day! You have great info, and the videos are awesome...thanks homie!
Glad you are loving it dude! 🙏🏻
Great video, Justin! 🎛️ I agree with you about the Belief intro.
Great video Justin! Can you suggest some katana mini settings to match the usual settings?
Thanks!
Hey Justin, which pedal would get me closer to the Mayer Tone? the Katana Mini or the Xotic Super Clean?
Between those two I do like the Super Clean! Honestly though the differences between the clean boosts won't make much difference as it's mainly just making your existing tone louder!
is the katana before or after the drives?
Katana is always before the drives!
What is what rotary sound in the first solo!? 🍻
It’s a strymon lex

Dude the Larry David clip has me laughing so hard
It was all I could think of during the editing haha!
Never understood clean boosts. Why would you NOT want to color the sound?

Because my amp sounds good! Why mess with a sound you like?
Omg what is there to understand in a clean boost. Thats kinda self explaining...
