I have a MkII Supra myself and have done a quite bit on it, but I actually didn't know the head could be removed without stripping off the valve towers! Anyway, the'll need to come off to change the gaskets that are the source of my oil leaks. :p
lol unless the head is severely warped or your running big boost or using a mls head gasket you dont HAVE to surface the head just get it thoroughly cleaned up, running a composite head gasket give a lot of tolerance to informalities in the surface because it is a softer gasket, most head gaskets go because of poor cooling system maintenance followed closely by stretching head bolts which allow the compression rings around the cylinders to move.
Not very common, only if overheated. 7m is more notorious for headgasket issues. Have had several mk2's and Cressidas without any issues headgasket or internal related.
@@lukebarnes8097 I guess No what I really meant was why can’t they just have another follow up short video instead of completely cutting off after getting viewers to watch 7 minutes
He really needs to explain items better.. most modern engine blocks and heads are aluminum. Yes the head bolts stretch when you instal them but the reason for the stretch is prevent the head from warping if hot spots occur and to contain the flexing or expansion of the block under high heat situations
Small parts of Wheeler Dealers episodes. It has no interest. Wheeler Dealers formerly with Edd China's had another charisma. It was a genuine and interesting program. they tried to change, they screwed up
This didn't include the intake manifold removal, which was an immense pain
It would be a shame to go to all that trouble and not get the valves, seats and stem seals done
Awesome demonstration with the gasket

On the M family u have to machine the head or your gonna blow it again with aluminum head they warp easy
Wrenches and whiskey. Kidding we do it as clean and precise and budget as possible thanks Ant
I had a 1983 Celica GTS that was the same color. I couldn’t afford the Supra and always wanted one.
Good job! But the exhaust eventually will break again, cast iron is hard to weld!
Lovely !
Not too big of a problem in the midwest since most Supras of that era have been scrapped due to excessive rust from the salt on the roads.
The North: Am I a joke to you?
" that looks like some kind of rubbish energy drink..."
< as I sip my MTN DEW 🤣
This was my first car and it was red too! I had to replace the whole engine though. The previous owner put a rod through the block.
Why is this not shown during a program? I’m sure this would have needed to be done on a car in at least one of the programs.
except it wont go bang because its a non-interference engine but good tip nonetheless
Good morning showbizzzzzzz
I like the 3000gt
How did you make the block perfectly flat then ? Cause that bit is miss?
Goober. Simply put.
Bardzo ciekawe te prezentacje 😁

The factory torque spec for the head is blah. I torqued mine down to 94 ft-lbs. Head gaskets are a common issue on the 5M.

@@lakeshorerides yes the 7m came from factory under torqued so they would blow
@Robert Tadic the 5m had just as many headgaskets go as a 7m there damn near the same engine with the same problems
I would of straight piped it.
Being a former MK3 owner this shit gives me PTSD.
Wow Never Knew, 2 Valve Per Cylinder DOHC Inline 6,
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DONT HAVE CONTINUED VIDEOS OF THE FIRST VIDEO ITS VERY FRUSTRATING
This comment deserves more likes
So you don't understand why they don't basically put the whole episode on RUclips for free is what you're saying?

The weld job on the exhaust manifold won't hold. Welded the wrong way
I seen you guys moved to England no more shows now I take it?
Boa tarde congrats homens amigos trabalho WD carro 🚗✨😮👌🏿💪🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🇺🇸 BOM

I swear Ant only did this show to get a US visa
Just noticed, thats the completely wrong removal sequence for the cylinder head. 🤣🤣🤣
that whole job is like 5 grand and you sold the car for 3 grand profit. Love the hard work

No gloves and wearing a watch? Come on at least try to look the part
leave that catalytic converter off
Ant is one of the most talented jewish motoring presenters around....
Nooooooo, Ant. The Japanese have an odd perspective for arrows. They all point TOWARDS the engine. Counterintuitive - against the flow!
