    Please make sure you’re
    - using weight 5 yarn or the exact same yarn as in the video (charisma yarn by loops and threads WEIGHT (5)
    - 6.00mm crochet hook
    - follow the measurements shown in the video 15:29 , 16:41
    - make sure the hat fits as you go, try it on
    -use a loose tension
    - how to attach new yarn if you run out 23:22
    If you use a smaller yarn, it will not work, you have to use a bulky weight 5
    Please LOOSEN up your tension. as mentioned in the video 16:04, 18:21, your tension does not need to be so tight like with other crochet projects.
    Crochet is not a one size fits all but you have to tweak things to make it work or fit you. If the base doesn’t fit you, you need to figure out if your tension is too tight or if you actually need a bigger base with more than 40 stitches. 40 stitches fits around me perfectly especially with this stretchy yarn, but it may not work for you. Look up basic beanie patterns and find and increase method for a beanie that has 50 stitches or more , but 40 stitches with bulky yarn fits around my head as a base for my ruffle hats. You may need something bigger than that like 50 stitches .The purpose of a tutorial is for you to see how to make something or see the techniques I use and apply them where needed. Do your research and use the parts of my tutorial that work best for you :)

    My granny used to make me a hat every time I needed one, I told her this year I was gonna make her a hat, mostly because she wears her hair short and I don’t do cold or sick grannies. Period. This tutorial was SO easy to follow! Even for a beginner lefty! (Me) thank you so much for this. I used a size L-11 and an 8mm hook for this hat, it came out perfect. Ruffles are ruffling, and it’s big head friendly. Thank you for your contribution girl! ❤️🫂 this was the easiest one to follow!

    Ok, I JUST made this hat. I've only been crocheting for 33 days.
    I used Loops and Threads, Medium, 100% acrylic yarn. 4.5 oz or 127.5 grams.
    This yarn is much thinner and smaller than the yarn used in the tutorial. I still like the result!
    Personally, I would not have been able to double crochet as a complete beginner. I made squares using single crochet, then learned half double crochet and made a scarf, and now (making this hat) learned double crochet.
    I had one extra stitch than she had, it had no noticeable effect on the outcome of the hat.
    Overall, LOVED the tutorial. I made this in about 5 - 6 hours total across two days.
    I as someone who was an absolute beginner like 2 weeks ago. I still found the magic ring (or her version) to be the hardest part of this whole thing.
    Thank you for making this tutorial!

    • @jonvxco
      @jonvxco  4 месяца назад +2

      Did you follow measurements I put in the video ? Did you use thick yarn? Did you try it on as you went to make sure 40 stitches fit around your head? Did you use a loose or tight tension? Check my pinned comment. If it doesn’t fit your head you probably need to do a bigger base with maybe 50 stitches. Look up how to make a normal beanie and find what fits your head. I think your tension is too tight or your yarn is too small because 40 stitches in bulky yarn is really big lol

    • @k.popping_curlz3360
      @k.popping_curlz3360 4 месяца назад +1

      You probably just need a bigger base. My head is big so I already knew 40 stitches would be too small so I did my usual 60 stitches. And you continuing to crochet with a little base is not gonna make it get any wider bcuz you’re not increasing any you’re just continuing the project.

      @@QueenMarshae no it’s not a dumb question lol! When I only wanted the outline of the hat to be light green as an accent color. If I would’ve added it earlier, the ruffles themselves would have been light green and not just the outline. I wanted the entire hat to be dark green with the light outline. I hope I’m answering your question right :)

      @@kupkakeshugs make sure your tension is loose. Tight tension will make tighter and smaller ruffles. My ruffles are always so big that they almost cover my eyes. I’d say add more rows by just crocheting in each stitch again

    Hello, I have a question. I'm already doing row 12 and I'm confused about the 321123 pattern. At the end of the row I have to do 321 and I don't know what to do to get 321123 at the end of the row. Also I had to do 3 more rows of increases so maybe thats the reason but I Don't want to frog it all the way down, help. :c

    • @jonvxco
      @jonvxco  2 месяца назад

      You don’t have to complete the row exactly like 321123. You just have to follow the pattern , so you don’t necessarily have to end on the exact number :)

    • @jonvxco
      @jonvxco  4 месяца назад +2

      Do an extra row of one dc in each stitch for longer ruffles but if you’re using thick yarn they should sit forward a lot. If I did an extra row it would probably cover my eyes too much. Make sure your tension is loose.

    Am new to selling crochet online. How do I know the measurement of a person that ordered online In order to crochet for the person

    • @jonvxco
      @jonvxco  Месяц назад

      @@balogunfavour9259 if you have a website you can make a suggestion box where the customer can put their measurements and then you will make whatever according to that or you can just post a crochet item with the measurements and whoever can fit it will buy it. I use universe website builder. For me it’s better to model my hats that I make and sell but to be honest I don’t sell many hats because I don’t like dealing with other people’s measurements and possibly dissatisfied customers. I just focus on the art of crochet and doing what I want. I don’t sell much and if I sell things it’s maybe a 1 of 4 items or less.

    • @jonvxco
      @jonvxco  4 месяца назад

      This will absolutely NOT work with weight 4! Part of the ruffles being so big is using think weight 5 yarn and doing double crochets. If you use weight 4, then you will need to make a bigger base that’s bigger than 40 stitches and will probably need to add more ruffles to make them bigger
