I suggest using a basic beanie for a 5-6 six year old and skip the last 2 rounds of that pattern and then come back. Use a I hook and skip to the ruffle rows in this pattern.
@jamalwalker8214 blessings you can add a like 3 more rounds of single crochet inside your hat. My latest tutorial has a drawstring in that. You can make it and skip adding the elastic part. Just add more single crochet rounds inside the hat. I like adding it because over time, the can stretch out, and the elastic keeps it shape.

@@daniellealexus blessings you can just as long you can’t see them in the front and don’t go in the same direction so it would be hard for it to unravel. If you go to my beginner how to crochet you see how I weave ends.

Curling is usually caused by crocheting too tight. I'm using a I hook so if you want to try and see if it stops Curling if you change the hook size to a J hook. Or make sure you are doing 2dc in the same stitch,* 1dc in the next st, 2dc in the next st* ** *Repeat all the way around*

Hi, the tutorial was great but the problem is that my circle bends too quickly before I even reach the kind of size I want, do you perhaps have any tips on that?
Blessings. Check the description box. There, you will find the size of this hat I just don't have the length. But I have my go to Hat sizing chart you can print out it gives youthe circumference and length for hats. Happy crocheting.
I only tried this hat with Worsted weight yarn. But if you try a different type you will get different results. So have a notebook nearby to write down the change you made for the hat. Also check the description box and use the hat chart.
Blessings you take your yarn and attach it to a Darning Needle and weave in your ends. I have a beginner friendly tutorial on how to crochet go in that video description box and scroll to the time stamp on how to weave in ends ❤ Happy Crocheting
Add another increase round after Round 6 so your Round 7 will be ch2, 2dc inside that same stitch, * 1 dc in each of the next 5 stitches, 2dc in the 6th stitch,* *Repeat all the way around and join* and then continue on with the rest of the video. Happy Crocheting ❤
Also keep in mind this is like making a regular beanie, but instead doing the whole beanie pattern we stop a couple of rows beforehand so we can do the ruffles. The added crochet rounds inside the hat can give you the fit around your head so it won't fill like it's loose.... so you can add more rounds to that and try it out. ❤ hope this helps as well❤
The ruffle hat will come together after the elastic is put in. Also your tension matters as well…. I would need to see your hat to see what round you are on to see how we can troubleshoot. Email me jesshandmadedesigns@gmail.com
Blessings, you should have about 66 stitches before you start the ruffles.....I really don't count my stitches. I use a hat measuring guide. The link is in the description box. If you have 60-66 stitches, that is fine because you will be bringing in the hat when you start the single crochets inside the hat ❤
@wlehglowdiehburnett3845 There’s a hat chart in my description box. Click on the link and print it out. When watch the video and I do my last increase round check to see if the circle is the size you need it. If it’s not increase it so round 6 was increasing every 5th stitch, now you will do to make it bigger increase every 6th stitch, if you need to increase again every 7th stitch….if you need more help email me jesshandmadedesigns@gmail.com
You can go by your head size and measure the elastic that way tie it and put it on your head to see if it fits you.The national average is estimated to fall between 22 and 23 inches.

I'm your new subbie! Way too GO!!❤❤❤
Quick question if I wanted more length/Height should I crochet additional single crochet stitches. ( Example 7 - 10...maybe do 7 - 11 and or 12) probably will be the height I'm looking for...thank you for your help. 🙏🏽
I have 70 stitches where the double crochets were what did I do wrong? I follow the same pattern as you.
Rd 1-11
Rd 2-22
Rd 3-33
Rd 4-44
Rd 5-55 dc
Rd 6-66 dc
Rd 7-10 66 dc
Rd 11- 66 sc
Some where you made extra increases but you should be okay because you can do 4 single decreases in the single crochet round in round 11....
im confused at 20:03. do you use the long loop that was pulled earlier on ?
like does the slip knot need to be from the loop or from a new piece of yarn?
@_go.ncalves Blessings yes 18:18 I mentioned that we will be working with the new skein of yarn....we will be going back to the other yarn when we do the last row of our ruffles. If you don't have a second skeins of yarn just fasten off and work with that. I hope that helps❤
I love the tutorial, I can't wait to make this pattern! Is the elastic 100% necessary or could you make the hat without it?
Blessings ....You can make it without it... maybe add a few more single crochet rounds inside the hat ... you'll know what I'm talking about when you get further into the tutorial. Happy Crocheting 🥰
Is there any other substitute for elastic because I don’t have any?
Blessings, you can just add more single crochet rounds or add a draw string to it.
@@JessHandmadeDesigns ohhhh okay thanks I'll try to use a draw string❤️🩹
Hi, the tutorial was great but the problem is that my circle bends too quickly before I even reach the kind of size I want, do you perhaps have any tips on that?
Blessings what round are you on? Can you email me?
OMG😂😂😂😂I regret trying making this my gosh the last part of raffles 😢 😢😢😢😢😢
Hang in there 😂😂😘 You got this!
@JessHandmadeDesigns yooooh if scam was a project🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣this hat would be a perfect example 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@thobekilebiyela208 I thought a project will only single crochet was a scam 🤣 this is definitely up the top. But that’s why my prices are my prices ❤️
Love your colours. Please, can you kindly tell what sizing you used for, head circumference and body of the hat. How many inches or cm for both?
Blessings. Check the description box. There, you will find the size of this hat I just don't have the length. But I have my go to Hat sizing chart you can print out it gives youthe circumference and length for hats. Happy crocheting.
What type of elastic would be needed?
Blessings the link of the type of elastic I used is in the description box ❤
God bless you too 🙏
Blessings 🥰
Can I use any type of yarn for hat??
I only tried this hat with Worsted weight yarn. But if you try a different type you will get different results. So have a notebook nearby to write down the change you made for the hat. Also check the description box and use the hat chart.
Hey how do you weave in the ends ?
Blessings you take your yarn and attach it to a Darning Needle and weave in your ends. I have a beginner friendly tutorial on how to crochet go in that video description box and scroll to the time stamp on how to weave in ends ❤ Happy Crocheting
Thanks
Thanks so much 🥰
Great tutorial and very detailed i just wish you would’ve showed the hat after each step 😩
My head big 😭can I add extra rows before the ruffles? & would I do the same increase as row 11 for the added rows
❤ hope this helps as well❤
@@JessHandmadeDesigns thank you!

What hook size did you use?
1:04 a I crochet hook is a 5.5mm hook happy crocheting ❤️
What size of hook is the best to make this hat?
Blessings, in this Tutorial I used a I 5.5mm crochet hook. That's the hook size that was best to make these hats for my customers 🥰
What size of yarn is that please jess
4ply Worsted weight weight yarn (I'm using I love this yarn from hobby lobby) everything is listed in the description box ❤️ Happy Crocheting
Must you put elastic
You don’t have too but it will make it less stretchy over time. You can add additional single crochet rounds inside your hat too. Like 2 more rounds.
I just used my needle to thread the elastic at the last regular row before you start your ruffle row.
Awesome 🥰 Happy Crocheting 😍
Thank you for this video it's so easy to follow you🩷🩷
Thanks so much 🥰
Can u estimate how much yards of yarn needed?
About 570 yards
My hat is still loose after the single crochet what did I do wrong ?
The ruffle hat will come together after the elastic is put in. Also your tension matters as well…. I would need to see your hat to see what round you are on to see how we can troubleshoot. Email me jesshandmadedesigns@gmail.com
So on round 7-11 it’s once double crochet?
7-10 is 1 double crochet in each stitch all the way around
Round 11 is 1 single crochet in each stitch all the way around
Ohhh okay i get it
Thank you ❤️💎
Anytime Happy Crocheting
What's 22 inches to centimeters please
Head circumference, check the description box to print out a hat chart.
Thanks for the tip about the fabric glue.
Anytime❤️ 🥰
Thank how many stitches before starting ruffle ❤
Blessings, you should have about 66 stitches before you start the ruffles.....I really don't count my stitches. I use a hat measuring guide. The link is in the description box. If you have 60-66 stitches, that is fine because you will be bringing in the hat when you start the single crochets inside the hat ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Is there a version where I can read it
Soon
Finished this pattern...i does not fit my head...fits my toddler's head tho
You may need to go up to a j or k size hook. Because you might have your tension too tight.
I want to know I guess where to double to get it to fit an adult head
@@JessHandmadeDesignsah. Thank you I'll try
Thank you so much I appreciate it
How did measure you elastic
You can go by your head size and measure the elastic that way tie it and put it on your head to see if it fits you.The national average is estimated to fall between 22 and 23 inches.
Where Can I get the pattern?
Sorry it’s not available at this time….when I get some free time I will post up the pattern.
