It’s actually pretty simple (the technique i.e.) yet the outcome is so striking. 🤩 I can’t get enough of this hat. 😻Didn’t want the video to end + perfect choice of 🎶. Simply beautiful. Thank you! 🙌🏾💜
I haven't seen one of these since the 70's Beautiful job ! We used to make them for Baby dolls though. So I am rusty , but am going to try this with You . Thanks Your colors are so Beautiful ❤️
thank you! one of my good friends wanted me to make them this hat and referenced you on tiktok (I crochet and knit but not a content creator). These are beautiful!
HOW ARE YALL GETTINF 28 STITCHES ?!?!?!? I’ve been re-doing this for 6 hours now and not once have I got to 28 stitches something is off. HELP ME PLEASE.
I'm so happy that this tutorial was so easy to follow!!! One question tho, for the second layer of ruffles do we crochet into the same stuch that we did the first layer of ruffles on?
Beautiful. I was debating on a bucket with ruffles but I like this one more. Also do you do make up tutorials cuz baybee the lips are giving everything its suppose to.
It’s increase until you’ve counted 55 stitches in total but when that’s done you’ll notice there’s actually on 28 stitches in total in that final round- hope this helps 🫶🏾🫶🏾
@@venuslove9442no i even wrote it out, pulled out pen and paper and it either comes to 22 stitches in the end or 33, I’m not getting 28 idk how they got that 😭💔
Hi ! In the video ( 7:18 ) you mentioned that 5 rows of hdc’s make a medium sized hat. I have medium/thick locs and will need my hat to be a bit bigger. Would you suggest I add a few more rows of hdc’s before starting the brim ?
hi & yes! i think you should make maybe one extra row because the hat will naturally start to stretch downwards due to the weight of the brim and the lose loose stitches dues to the size of the hook
Mine isn’t closing in like a cap. I stopped the increasing but it’s starting to be a potholder 😞 I did the 1-2-1 hdc method the single hdc in every stitch. Idk what I’m doing wrong
Question: does the half double crochet make the hat fit more snug vs the double crochet? I’m looking for a more snug fit especially we’re the ruffle form. I’m getting to much baggyness
It depends on how many stitches you want to add in one stitch.. so at the end of your row 2 slip stitch to the top of your beginning stitch, chain 2 then in that same space add 2 or 3 (again depending on how many stitches you want to add to one stitch) stitches. Continue your work as Normal by adding 2 or 3 HDC in every stitch around the row. once you get to the end of your third row of ruffles slip stitch to the top of your beginning chain 2, chain one then pull up a loop. Cut the yarn tail then end it with a knot. you’re done! I hope this wasn’t too confusing 😩
If you simple just want an extra layer you can just place a single hdc in each stitch for the third row or to make it more ruffled, place 2 or more hdc in each stitch 💌
hello! I wanted to make this but the yarn u used is not sold where I live:( I was just wondering if I can use 100% cotton yarn and use 3 strands or more at a time 💀🙏
Not exactly, a smaller or bigger hook size would mean the stitches would be smaller or bigger so the sizing would change, you can apply this pattern still but you’d have to adjust your measurements accordingly too
GOOD AFTERNOON!!! Thank you for sharing. How did you started your crochet business? Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day 😊 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
A bigger hook will get you that fullness faster but you can still create a full look with a 6mm hook but placing more than 4hdc in each stitch and more than 3hdc in the second row too 🤍
I’m a bit confused 😅 I am working with a 5mm hook… I’ve made it to the 55 stitch count tho … feeling like I have made a mistake🤔 when you say do 4hdc this is in the very first time around the 10 on the magic circle? And then 2hdc in each of those stitches before you start doing the 1, 2, 1, 2 method? I’m just starting out so I might be completely wrong 😅
Creator please correct me if I’m confusing people or wrong. I did it this way and it turned out the same as hers Using her 1 2 1 2 method and always putting 1 in the first stitch no matter the last. R1: 10 HDC/Initial Stitches R2: 15 HDC into 10 stitches (1-15) R3: 22 HDC into 15 stitches (16-37) R4: 33 HDC into 22 stitches (38-70) The rest was easy and doesn’t require Math, 😂 Hope this helps.
I might’ve explain this wrong, the 55 comes from counting consecutively 1, 2/3, 4, 5/6, 7, 8/9 and so on until 55. When you get to 55 thought and count how many stitches are in the round, it’s going to be 28 stitches. Hope this helps 🩵
My first time making this was amazing perfect I was like damn she explained it so good this is the best tutorial ever my second hat good now my third whyyyyy can’t I get 28 stichtches what am I doing wronngggg ahhhhhhh 😭😭😭😭😭
You new to crochet? This was so simple and straight forward. Maybe try one of those 45 minute tutorials. Unnecessarily long, but my guess is that they'll explain every last stitch. Great luck!!
I think it would of been less confusing if you would of explained by each row not until you increase to 55 think that’s were you lost a lot of ppl. But great video After restart about 6x I wrote the pattern down and I ended with 49
Thank you I made it. It came out great. My first time crocheting in decades…literally. Lots of compliments.

Is there like an alternative for the thing u use to get rid of the extra fuzz ??😊
You can just trim the fuzz off with scissors & Ik some people use a low torch to singe the fuzzies off as well - just be really careful! 🫶🏾
If I use a different size crochet hook, how much of a difference would you say it would make ?
It might make a huge different if the hook size is much smaller but you can always adjust!
Mine isn’t closing in like a cap. I stopped the increasing but it’s starting to be a potholder 😞 I did the 1-2-1 hdc method the single hdc in every stitch. Idk what I’m doing wrong
How many rows in did you get before it starts looking like a “pot holder” also are you using a different weight yarn or hook size?
Super super helpful ❤👍
Question: does the half double crochet make the hat fit more snug vs the double crochet? I’m looking for a more snug fit especially we’re the ruffle form. I’m getting to much baggyness
yes double crochet is looser
For a snugger fit, you should try a single crochet but you will have to adjust the hat to match the measurements! 💌
How would I go about adding an extra layer of ruffles?
It depends on how many stitches you want to add in one stitch.. so at the end of your row 2 slip stitch to the top of your beginning stitch, chain 2 then in that same space add 2 or 3 (again depending on how many stitches you want to add to one stitch) stitches. Hello can you tell me where you got your yarn spool love this video
It’s from Amazon! 🤍
Do you do a slip stitch when increasing? To next row?
No slip stitches until the brim!
Can I use this same pattern for yarn that’s fuzzy and thicker than this one?
Yes you can! 🤍
@@abikeadelomo Thank you!
thank you for not gatekeeping sis ❤
Always! 🥰🥰

I think that should work for you also! 🤍
If i use a different hook or yarn size can i still follow the pattern directly ?
Not exactly, a smaller or bigger hook size would mean the stitches would be smaller or bigger so the sizing would change, you can apply this pattern still but you’d have to adjust your measurements accordingly too
Very nice ❤
Girl do you not join at the end of each round? Or am I blind? 😅 I was trying to crochet along and I’m so confused
you’re not blind! i actually worked continuously and did not join after each round until i started the ruffles
I have a weight 4 yarn and I was wondering if this pattern would work with that type of weight ?
Also what is the name of the song in the video ? I love the jazz
I was also wondering the same!
It should still work 🫶🏾
GOOD AFTERNOON!!! Thank you for sharing. How did you started your crochet business? Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day 😊 Robin N.Otis-Clayborne
Hi! I have a video up on how I decided to start my business over a year ago but I’m hoping to make an updated one soon! 💌💌
Do you slip stitch at any point?
Yes, when I start the second row of the brim!
The biggest hook size i have is 6mm. Does this mean I’ll need to get a bigger hook if i want the same fullness as yours?
A bigger hook will get you that fullness faster but you can still create a full look with a 6mm hook but placing more than 4hdc in each stitch and more than 3hdc in the second row too 🤍

Nice hat where did you get your yarn holder from?
Thank you, the yarn holder is from Amazon 💌
@@abikeadelomo ok thank you
The way i was just using ur old video making one scrolling on RUclips 😭😭
Where did you get that yarn holder?
Amazon!
How to start the brim part ?
You start with 4hdc, the chapters in the description will point you to the exact start of the video!
What is that lil spinning yarn holder contraption called?! 😩
It’s called a yarn holder! From Amazon
Are the mink hats made the same exact way?
Yes, pretty much! Same effect, different material
Yea my stitch count isn’t coming out the same… and I’ve bought the pattern too… I must b missing something
Are you getting a higher or lower count?
You sooo easy thank you

R4: 33 HDC into 22 stitches (38-70)
The rest was easy and doesn’t require Math, 😂 Hope this helps.
Yes! This sounds about right and the final stitch count in that last row should be 28th ❤️
Thank you very much Blessings
I just think ur so gorgeous
Thank you so much 🥹🫶🏿
Where can we get the yarn holder
Amazon!
How would you change the pattern if you were to do sc only?
Instead of hdc
You would have to make up for the shorter gauge by continuing to increase the crown so it’s bigger & that would also increase the size of your brim
How can i do this to where one side is one color and the other side is a different color?
I’m not sure that’s possible with this style of hat 😭
So the brim is just two rows?
Yes, just two rows!
I’m so confused 😂 do I increase until I get 55?
Yes! You increase every other stitch until you reach a count of 55
How are you getting 28 stitches total if you're doing the [1,inc] until you get 55 stitches?
I might’ve explain this wrong, the 55 comes from counting consecutively 1, 2/3, 4, 5/6, 7, 8/9 and so on until 55. When you get to 55 thought and count how many stitches are in the round, it’s going to be 28 stitches. Hope this helps 🩵

Don’t focus too much on the stitch count! As long as you have the general shaping and of the hat you should be good ❤️
Why mine not flat around ?

It should start off like a circle but it should start turning into a cap after you stop increasing 😭
Did anybody decrease before starting the ruffles because I didn’t and my hat is loose
you might just need to tighten your tension a bit for a firmer fit!
