Is it just me or Pam did you have a little smirk on your face when Stephanie said, “I just can’t wait to get to the pants.” I really think you were about to giggle because I giggled! And now I’m laughing out loud. Y’all crack me up! Now I’m gonna have to stitch the squirrels and every time I look at them I will think of that smirk on your face. Then again, maybe you didn’t smirk at all. 😅
I have been stitching for almost 3 years now. I think the most difficult thing about this hobby is coming to the realization that there are more things I want to stitch than I have time to stitch. Just when I feel like I have seen enough, here comes some snail mail for an opportunity to buy the Cross Stitch Christmas book. Apparently I can "try" it out and send it back if I don't want to buy it, but I know if that book comes wandering in my mail, I will have more patterns in my possession to stitch. Then I watch Flosstube and can get enabled. I love this crazy hobby and enjoy your Flosstube.
Thank you Steph and Pam, Clotted Cream is a thick cream you can stand your spoon up in which is traditional to have Afternoon Tea Scones, Clotted Cream and Jam.
Yesss I had my first proper tea with my sewing group last week❤ there was a big discussion of “jam first, then cream”, or “put cream first, then jam” (I opted for the latter!)
Hi pam and Steph you both had me in stitches this week with the free the animals chant 😂 I'd just do some similar-esc houses on that side because I don't understand the meaning to the animals but I am British so I'd put it a cuppa tea if it was a British theme . Look forward to your videos every week x keep on being your amazing funny self's
I just adore your fun shows and your stitching. I miss my Mum so much and seeing you joking and teasing with each other makes me laugh and smile so much and makes us viewers feel part of your lovely relationship. I can’t wait for your next show. Much love from Jo in Cornwall, England xxxx
Just had to turn to Google for metaphor for magnificent creatures in Land of Liberty. Very interesting. Elephant - was referenced has Emotional. Rhinoceros - was referenced as power, strength and endurance. Whale - was referenced as wisdom and peace. Beautiful pattern. ❤❤
Y'all are always good for a few laughs and right now I need that. I am watching while waiting for Hurricane Francine to arrive. We will only get Tropical Storm force winds, but I just hope we do not lose power. We are not having any cool weather. The storm is moving quickly, it will be out of here by morning, but tomorrow's high will be in the mid 80's. At least it is not the 90's. I wish fall was here for us but that won't happen for a while here in New Orleans. Love watching you ladies.
Hello Ladies so good to really see you both had Cataract surgery last week my vision was 20/800 in left eye. Tomorrow morning I will have Cataract surgery on my right eye 👁️. I can't tell you how thankful and blessed I am to really see you beautiful 😍 ladies today . Have a wonderful week everyone ❤ InezArnetta 🌹
Clotted cream is the best! We (the brits) have it traditionally on scones with fruit jam. It is most definitely NOT just thick cream, it's heavy cream that you've baked for like 7 hours on the lowest oven temperature, so all the water evaporates and you're left with a really thick concentrated "cream" that you can almost cut with a knife. (You chill it well after cooking). 😊
Hi friends! So fun to see you both again :) Pam, I can't get over how good the Nautical ABC chart is looking 😍 The box of goodies from Haystack Stitching was fun to see, too. Thanks for another great video! Happy Friday 💜
Thank you Ladies for another fabulous episode. Clotted cream is a traditional English speciality that is used in the traditional English Afternoon Tea. It's is a gorgeously rich cream that goes on the scone with the jam. Clotted cream fudge is very sweet and scrummy , and is sold at seaside places in England. Enjoy your fudge. Julie. England.x
Oh my gosh, clotted cream is a WONDERFUL thing. I love it so much. It's a thickened cream you make by heating it at a low temperature for a long time. It brings out the sweetness. It's super easy to make but you have to use a heavy cream that hasn't been ultra ultra pasteurized.
It's always a pleasure to visit with you two. Melanie (Uplift Stitches) and I take such peace returning to your slice of jollity after an eventful week. I too find myself scratching my head about the whale, elephant and rhino. I would probably replace them with an eagle, deer, and buffalo. And love the Christmas Ball pattern. I may have to find a slot for that after my Festive Frosted Pumpkin Cottage. Keep stitching. Looking forward to our next visit.
Thank you so much for the mention ladies! Jessie Marie got me close and y'all quickly sent me over 1,000. Love everything you do and hope to see you again at Stitchcon one of these days.
I had to do a double take because when you said “loan charts” I heard “loan sharks” and thought “Well, this is a new kind of flosstube!” 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for always making me smile!
❤. What I found on the google-an elephant and rhino together can represent protection, strength, and resilience. Per Hands Across the Sea a whale represents regeneration. Hope this helps ladies!
I love the Tiny Towns so much! I've ffo'd 5 of them and have bought all but this newest one and it's sitting at the top of my "must buy asap" list! That Halloween masquerade piece has such Phantom of the Opera vibes! Oh, my goodness, you ladies just brought my such "I want it all " vibes. Now, the funniest part was , what the heck is with the elephant, rhino and whale😂😂😂??? I have no idea!!! I hope you'll be able to enlighten us at some time😂
Pam, the shading/stitching in Land That I Love flag is chefs 😚. Steph I may have to get squirrel man pants pattern he’s so cute 😍. I’m with you Stephanie, free the animals, especially Shamu. 🪡🧵☮️❤️
Another great episode ladies! The highlight has to be Steph being the annex of your brain! As usual, the banter was hilarious! Such beautiful stitching, and I look forward to seeing your secret stitches for your crockpot crew retreat! I love your squirrel in pants!! I have this on my list of projects and they are adorable! Pam, the flag on Land That I Love is fabulous! I hope to stitch that sampler one someday. I especially enjoyed seeing the haul and all of the fun charts that you picked up for Halloween! There are just so many cool things! Have a great week and enjoy the refreshing, cooler weather.
Hello Pam and Steph … I look forward to seeing you two every Sunday … I just love your videos and they make me laugh and feel so happy and Stephanie you are so knowledgeable … y’all stay the same by being yourselves … so glad I have you in my life … until next time Happy Stitching 🧵 … 😊❤ Dena
Wonderful entertainment tonight!! After Steph’s comment about the Whale, Elephant and Rhinoceros. All I could think of was the movie Free Willy. You both are enjoyable!! Have fun with the crockpot group!! Enjoy your time together!! Happy Stitching!!❤
Pam, in regards to back stitching… I like to complete what’s in the frame of the hoop and backstage before I move the hoop to another portion of the fabric.
On the sweet land of liberty, I'd leave off the animals, and stitch more buildings. And, then Stephanie suggested the same thing right after I typed it. 😊. Alex sat next to me at my retreat last week. Unfortunately, about 1/3 of us have tested positive for covid after getting home. At least we had a great time, before getting sick.
OMG!!! Any whoo x 2!! LOL 😂😂😂😂 My 30 something daughter and I totally relate to your comment and relationship. We laughed so hard, we had to go back and listen to it again!! Love you gals!!!
I believe a completed version of Liberty 1990 was shown in Needle & Flax’s latest flosstube - found at an estate sale, maybe? Didn’t notice if Rachel’s version included the animals at the bottom of the chart.
I don't think people should apologize for dangling threads. I call them 'threads of hope' because they show the hope to stitch forward. Hooray for hope! Hooray for future stitching!
Year 1990 in America, the Endangered Species Act establishes protection for endangered fish, wildlife and plants. Designer used the whale, the elephant, the tree and the rhino encircled together on the pattern as “protected” conserving the nature of America. This is my take after knowing there had to be a reason behind those motifs. 🇺🇸
Sweet Land of Liberty….the first thing that entered my mind was the ivory on the elephant and rhino, so I looked it up. Apparently, international trade of ivory was banned around 1989. The gray whale was near extinction during that time (1990’s) so maybe there was some kind of conservation going on for the whale, too. I am not sure of the reason, but the animals are cute and add a great topic to discuss when people look at it.
Fact, Pam, that there’s just not enough time to stitch all that one wants! I am quite impressed, though, regarding your ‘annex’ to your brain… 🧠 I wonder if I have one, because it would certainly be useful! 😂❤
You really got me thinking about the Sweet Land of Liberty chart and those animals. Perhaps the creator was trying to represent various aspects found in our unofficial national anthem, "God Bless America. I'm thinking of the words "...from the mountains, to the prairies[elephant and rhino], to the oceans [the whale], white with foam...". It's a stretch but that's all I got!
Brain annex. What an awesome job to have, Steph. Does it come with treats-on-demand? I need to get my 30-something daughter to be my brain annex...This was lots of fun to watch, ladies! 😻
I think it refera to "Freedom" for people and animals. Most of the animals are in Zoos, confined and many are becoming extinct due to hunting and poaching, etc. 🙂
First of all just let me say that I look forward to your video so much. second, I always laugh and have a great time, but tonight I peed my pants over the discussion with "Sweet Land of Liberty". I have no idea why those 3 critters are representing. LOL. Please never change and have a wonderful week.
So. A circus ship was on its way to America, but Flag Lady told them "NO!" by emphatically pointing back across the Atlantic (or maybe it was the Pacific - I don't know, but pointing to the right = Atlantic to me, I don't know why...). And the whales were her friends, so they helped to roll over and sink the ship, but in doing so got stuck in the steerage compartment. But now the elephant and the rhinoceros are trapped under the sea, and cannot stampede over the little New England town. I may have watched The Greatest Showman a few too many times. ~Erin
Maybe the buildings represent the big 3: God, Home and …. Education? And the whale, elephant and rhino are the 3 biggest mammals?? That’s all I got! 🤷🏻♀️ lol Olivia
Ok I thought long and hard about the Heinzit chart that Pam got. An elephant, rhino, and a whale…. What could they possibly have to do with the US or freedom? I don’t have a clue. However, the whale and elephant have ivory and the Rhino’s have a horn. These are items that are now banned from sale in the US but I can’t really connect them to Freedom. Now I’ll be up all night trying to figure this out, or I’ll dream about large animals all night!!
Were the three animals (elephant, whale, and rhino) all endangered in 1990 and somehow hinzeit associated that with liberty or freedom? STrange for sure!
Hi Ladies I was wondering if you could talk about Qsnaps next week. I’ve never used one. Do you clip your stitched/finished fabric in the Q-snap? Or do you roll it up in one of those magnet straps? Thanks
Uh Pam now be truthful, didn't the 1st time you saw your son wasn't it love at 1st sight too? Can you fit 3 snow people in the globe? 😁💗 Aren't the animals on the chart represent political parties? And I'm not even American! 😂 ❤
The animals have me stumped! 😂 no clue. Maybe wild relates to freedom? Elephants aren't even indigenous to US.. unless you mean Mastadons or Wooly Mamoths. 🤷♀️. Neither are Rhinos. Do yourself a favor Nd don't let the word clotted get in your way, those caramels are delicious!
I saw that chart this past week also. Why don't you stitch a donkey and an elephant to show the different political parties? Remember those elephant and donkey pins, Pam?
Is it just me or Pam did you have a little smirk on your face when Stephanie said, “I just can’t wait to get to the pants.” I really think you were about to giggle because I giggled! Rachel, one refers to Cornish Cream Team and the other is Devon Cream Tea. I prefer jam first 😊☕️
