A little fun fact: Jesse was originally supposed to show no emotion when he drove away it was just supposed to be a closeup of him with a blank expression but it was Aaron who started to laugh hysterically and scream (because that seemed like a natural reaction of being freed after being held as a slave for)

Really goes to show just how much of a perfect storm the entire show was. Slightly different decisions could've made the entire sow far more generic and mediocre, but things went exactly the right way and created an honest to god masterpiece.

To be fair, with how the scheduling works for Breaking Bad and TV in general, Aaron Paul probably didn't have enough time to grow out a beard over several months due to the release schedule whereas El Camino is a standalone movie so everything would've been planned out well in advance
Besides, it's more accurate to what a beard would actually look like if someone was held in captivity for half a year (in fact, growing out a beard for 6 months would look a lot longer than it did in El Camino). Jesse in Felina looks like someone who hasn't shaved in about 6 weeks, not months

This cut is awesome. Rewatching this reminds me of Walt dying in the lab and somehow I’ve never thought of the symbolism.
Walt dies in the lab that Jesse has spent so long cooking in against his will, the same lab that Walt is ultimately responsibly for him spending all his time after letting the Nazis take Jesse instead of killing him in the desert. (They gave Walt a choice and Jesse looked remorseful as he kneeled and Jack aimed his pistol at his head) Now you could argue that the only other option was worse for Jesse, but he was hidden until Walt alerted them that he was under his car.
Walt never got to experience the horrors of the lab like Jesse, but instead he spent his last moments there, alone.
“Guess I got what I deserved”
    Edit:
    Thanks for the highlight!

This scene is so perfect for many reasons. First of all, I feel like Aaron Paul hits the nail on the head with the wild howls and yells. It's perfect. He's been tortured and turned into a slave for about a year. Second of all, after seeing the gunshot wound, he knew he was finally free of Walt, the man who ruined his life. And I have to imagine that those celebratory- yet pained yells are affected by Walter's unavoidable death.

That's nowhere near close to redemption after what he'd done, directly and indirectly, to Jesse.
Also, I still believe that the only reason Walter freed him was so that the blue meth would disappear with his death. In his mind, it was the work of his life, his ego wouldn't let anyone else to hold this "trophy"

This is how I felt when I got my first car. Idk how but I felt so free after I got my very own car. Like it’s my own ride. I don’t have to call Uber anymore or beg someone to pick me up or beg them to let me borrow their car. This 4 wheeled machine is my personal one. I know cars are just a machine with an engine and 4 wheels. But whenever I hear the engine of my car, I feel like it’s greeting me.

I have no idea if this was on purpose or not but Jesse’s first car was a Monte Carlo (the ridiculous bouncing car as his mom put it). “Monte” means hill/mountain and “Carlo” means lower end of a lateen yard. Or what could be viewed as a high and low. Jesse’s last car we see him in is the El Camino. “Camino” translating into the word “path”. So I know it may be a reach but Gilligan could be saying that Jesse’s path was full of highs and lows. Just a thought.

Anyone read the novel, First Blood? Watching Jesse in the last episodes of BB, and the opening to this movie, is the closest I've seen to watching a book accurate Rambo. A broken kid, who's ready to do anything to escape. I sometimes watch this scene and pretend this is Rambo after escaping from the cave, (it's a bat cave, in the novel) and kills a few cops and steals their car, blows up a bunch of dynamite to create confusion for the police, and this is his reaction to the prospect of actually getting away. And yes, I said "kills a few cops". Book Rambo doesn't hold back.
