Ford F150 5.4L Radiator & Water Pump Replacement

- In this video we'll show you how I replaced the radiator and water pump on a 2004 Ford F150. The customer had his transmission rebuilt six months prior. To enhance the transmission's life, the repair shop bypassed radiator's ATF supply and return hose connection ports and ran the ATF hoses into an aftermarket auxiliary transmission oil cooler mounted in front of the ac condenser.

#F150RADIATOR
Thanks for that video.
Your the first person I've seen make the dreaded lower rad hose replacement. I am about to replace the rad on my 2007 with upper lowered hoses also the alternator.
I noticed because the fan and shroud were ot of the way the water pump was also easy to change. Thanks for that becaus my truck has been sitting.
Would you recommend that I replace the water pump? Cheers Doug 😎
Thanks for sharing! Yup...replace the pump while you're at it. They're cheap.
@@hardlymovingpro thanks bud I very much appreciate your getting back to me, buy the way your video was really well done!
Cheers Doug
@DH432hrtz you bet!
If you're changing out a radiator on a 2008 Ford expedition you do not have to remove the fan clutch The shroud has a hinges on the bottom You pop out the two plastic holders and the door will swing open and let you pull the shroud out around the fan clutch and you can pull it without pulling your fan clutch I don't know what other model Fords that it's on check before you pull your fan clutch 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙂
Did something similar on a Dodge Ram V8 where I couldn't get the fan clutch off. But in that situation I was replacing the water pump (which is attached to the fan clutch). If just replacing the radiator, I guess you can leave the fan clutch in place. But water pumps are cheap. If replacing the radiator, might as well replace the water pump as well.
Thank you for sharing the video, fans from Taiwan.
Thanks for watching!
What are the thin metal pipes coming from the radiator, I lost the black cap cover to it but have no clue what the pipe is called.
It's towards the washer fluid reservoir btw
I think you're referring to the transmission fluid supply and return lines.
U can't beat a Ford f 150, I have a 2001 model . 👍
It has it set of problems like other vehicles.
I learned the hard way, don't take the flare nuts off the radiator. The hoses are quick connect
Live and learn!
@@hardlymovingpro I always have to learn the hard way. Lol
Where can I get that chain pulley thingy from? I’m really struggling with removing my fan clutch. Thanks….
It's called a chain wrench or chain strap wrench commonly used in plumbing. I provided a product link in the description area of this video.
Good job
Thanks!
Wouldn’t you I want to flush out all of the old coolant before adding a new radiator??
If you want. But not necessary if the radiator or pump failure was not due to worn or contaminated fluid.
Where did you buy the radiator?
I think it was rockauto or Advance Auto.
Strange..My 1998 Ford Regency van came with factory external transmission cooler. It also has an Oil cooler...Why finding that damn lower radiator hose is a job... Ford no longer makes them....I found an oil stock one in Ford dealer in Houston, Texas...
And they make two versions fan clutch. One with AC and one without. The one without actually cost more..
It's hard to keep up with all the manufacturer's design changes.
How much you price this job
Around 3 hours labor & price of parts.
