    I love this! It is exactly what my Granny used to do. She had such beautiful hair all her life. None of us seemed to inherit it but in recent years I adopted her way of brushing and braiding my hair at night and only washing my hair very occasionally. Now my hair looks more like hers did :)

    Long time viewers may find this article slightly familiar as I have shared parts of it before. That was a loooonng time ago though and I should like to think, while this video is far from perfect, it is much improved over the old one!

    This is exactly my hair routine. I also sleep with a silk bonnet too. It keeps my hair clean longer.

    The analogy of smoothing out hair as doing so with cloth is a convincing one. Now l know why l wake up looking like l have a brillo pad on my head. l'll start this sensible routine tonight! Its great that many vintage books have been reprinted, as was the " Health & Beauty Hints" book you used here. I love your channel & really enjoy it when you feature your cat in your videos.

    This is very similar to what I do already. After setting up the coffee maker for the next morning as well as preparing my bed and washing my face, I massage my scalp to loosen up any dandruff and dust (and it's very relaxing) and then comb it using the wide and fine sides of my comb. Then use a bbb to brush my hair and braid it back for bed. Its a pretty sound and simple routine. I love your videos!❤

    I have curly/frizzy. Brushing my hair just makes it frizz more.

      I always get the feeling Edwardian girls weren't really concerned about frizz. It probably helped them achieve some of those massive styles!

    • @wareforcoin5780

      Honestly, after a lifetime of having long hair, I'm now surprised to hear that someone _wouldn't_ brush their hair before bed. I can't even imagine the horrible rats nest that my hair would be if I didn't brush the day's snarls out and then slept on it. I'm too scared to find out what it would be.

    You don’t put milk last in a china cup! It always goes first then the tea , this is to prevent the china cup from breaking and or cracking from the hot tea

    • @TheLongHairedFlapper
      @TheLongHairedFlapper  Год назад +3

      Thanks for the advice! Although I do prefer milk in last, so I'll probably continue to live dangerously. It's a modern teacup , not an antique, so the risk of cracking is pretty low 🙂 (Plus I've been making my tea that way for 20+ years and haven't broken a cup yet!)

    • @TheLongHairedFlapper
      @TheLongHairedFlapper  Год назад +3

      It's a silver baby brush I've had since I was born (hence why it has a teddy bear on the back!). It's not really the best brush but I use it for videos since my normal hair brush is very worn and unattractive.

    • @TheLongHairedFlapper
      @TheLongHairedFlapper  5 месяцев назад

      @@HorrorGameCore I use a natural-bristle brush which I bought years ago at Sallys. I don't think they still carry that exact model, and given how many bristles have fallen out of the years I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

    What about curley hair? If i brush it i get a lot of friz and all the curls are ruined i get afro style hair...

    • @TheLongHairedFlapper
      @TheLongHairedFlapper  5 месяцев назад +3

      Honestly, a lot of the historical photos I see of women with natural curls do have a massive amount of frizz. It helped to add to the volume and structure of the updos that were popular at the time. If that's not a look you are going for you may want to go more modern with your hair care options :)
