Looks like a really fun game. As a dude who doesn't visit Exotic Dance clubs but has known some girls in the Sex Industry/Sex Industry adjacent sphere, this does look like a respectful, light hearted reflection of the career. And the representation in the minis is good to see. Outstanding looking product thanks for drawing attention to this game.
Thank you! I read someone’s experience of not being a club person but really enjoying this game, I think there will be be a lot of that with Night Shift!
hell yes, i've been a fan of exotic cancer for years. so when they revealed this game i was so hyped. can't wait to play it and paint the minis. awesome review by the way!
Good point about there being no limits when it comes to violence, but anything related to sex is a touchy subject. Truly a "we live in a society" type subject.
I very vaguely remember an "adult" themed dungeon crawler I saw on KS a few years back. Wsh I could track that back, there is not enough boardgame like this. Most adult themed game are Monopoly with lesser quality top hats.
Another awesome video, bestie! Love this game concept, and you did such a great job covering it! I love this segment of your content and can't wait to see more.
This looks really interesting and cool, and I _really_ like that it has play-modes for just about everyone. Competitive, co-op; pretty much everything. Now I just wish I wasn't poor, and could afford to back it :(
LOVE that this game was made by a former dancer and that you play AS the dancers, and there is a lot of "truth-bombs" about the type of customers dancers might have to deal with, all while keeping it light and fun... the mini games actually sound great too. Appreciate the review.
I really enjoy the color schemes for the entire set; everything is soft and comfortable, but not just classic pastels. Like cyberpunk, but without the dystopia. I also was really excited to see the differences in the dancers and that they weren't all adhering to beauty "standards". I also really like that you can solo and co-op this game. One of the big barriers of entry fro me is finding enough players for a game to be fun and rewarding. From the description this game sounds like it can go really deep for such short runs, but that just increases the intensity. Thanks for a great review of what is obviously a fantastic game!
Thank you so much! I agree, the color scheme is so good, all of the art is a treat and the components are fun to look at and use. I think you’ll really like it!
My partner and I have been looking forward to this game. I love that's it totally different to 90% of other titles out there and much like yourself I am a wargamer. I own hundreds of games and most are big muscle men with big swords or space aliens. Fantasy females on dragons or scifi space ships, what's super appealing about this is curvy and slim bodies thats not over sexualised models without a reason.
I think it's nice to see an adult themed game that isn't simply dick and boob jokes. The game has some whimsy and humor, but there's actually a game packed in here. I think that's really cool. It's great that there's different body types represented in the women. Under another vision, this could easily have been a bunch of Barbie doll figures. It's not the style of game that I typically play. I often want to roll dice to bust heads. But, were I to play it I'd either pick Topaz or Ruby. Still, I'm tempted to back just to support a creator bringing something unique to the market.
As a fellow dice roller head buster, it was definitely interesting to switch it up and strategize in a different way! It’s a super unique game and is genuinely a lot of fun to play, if you pick it up I hope you’ll like it.
I have been waiting for this game for over a year now. I am so glad they have Ruby because having someone a little curvier is a treat I would not have expected from a game about sexuality and in particular an industry that can be known to be highly bodyshamey. Hadn't seen your stuff before seeing this video on the KS for this game but gonna sub so I can see those kitbashes.
Modeling and church are more body shamey than stripping is. Unless the club's main clientele is "rich old men who hate their wives", they always hire all kinds of girls because they know there is ALWAYS guys who like something different. I've seen skinny girls who can't make a dollar and big girls that customers are loyal to the bone for.
@@wittlegoblin it's fantastic fun, gameplay loops is very addictive and you're right the mini games are great, and the fact it had a message hit me hard (in a good way)
I was so excited when this video popped into my sub box because I _knew_ you'd give it the love and respect it deserves. And now I'm gonna be looking forward to playing it some time when I get the chance. More sex positivity is always a plus in my book.
Thank you! One of my favorite parts about covering indie games is the fact that the creators experiences shape them so much, and this is such a great example of that.
Looks like a fun game. You are correct that people can be a bit weird when it comes to talking about 18+ themes. Not just in games, but also in movies, shows, books and other mediums of artistic expression. This aversion to talk about any mature 18+ topics might be a remnant from the Puritanical movement in England (17th century), where people were more religiously uptight and s*xually repressed. These attitudes spread centuries ago across Europe and the USA. It's weird how people feel far more comfortable with gore and violence than they do with love and affection. People will watch movies showing blood and chopped off limbs with their entire family, but seeing a long kissing scene or a nudity scene will make many people very uncomfortable.
@@tingotovac3785 What is your point? Maybe a better word would be physical intimacy. People can get it from their partner(s) or from someone they paid for that service.
I have orderd the collectors edition a few days ago.. im getting excited to play the game.. Also.. some of my friends work as an entertainer/dancer.. so that might add up to the fun as they got experience in it.. 🙈🙈
Violence is ok Sex is not??? I am not sure how that ever became the norm in the US. Violence is a terrible part of life that is celebrated in our movies and games. Sex is a beautiful part of life that we wouldn't be here without but we hide in shame from it. Make love not war.... hammer. Haha.
I used to DJ at several strip clubs throughout Corpus Christi TX, all owned by the bandidos biker gang at the time. A lot of this stuff sounds like it rings true from my experience. It seems like a very interesting gamification of that environment. When you mentioned the full moon, my mind went to the realities of women being strippers, and that is they are only strippers 21 days of the month... It's a really rough dog-eat-dog setting, and while you see a lot of people who are lost entering that strata, you know they will either eventually be eaten up by that system or become a part of the perpetuation of that particular mental/social abuse that everyone takes part in and shares equally. While I find this a very novel game, one warning about anyone thinking this glorifies the real setting: The only way to win at that 'game' IRL, is not to play it at all. I am glad for the game designer. Coming from that background and then making a literal game of it seems like good therapy for coping with that experience. I am not sure if I could engage with the game after knowing what I know (I am still going to PTSD therapy, in part from this. *shrug* it is what it is), but I respect the design all the same. I view it as art, because as Cesar Cruz once said: "Art should disturb the comfortable, and comfort the disturbed."
Thank you for this really thoughtful response, I appreciate you taking the time- I hear what you’re saying and that’s why I think this game written by anyone other than someone who has that life experience would be ineffective and honestly disrespectful. I think some people it’ll just be a fun game, others it’ll be a reflection of shared experiences , and also with some it’ll lead to really interesting conversations about capitalism, exploitation, and where that intersects with S-work.
