One cannot even say : _Treat others the way you want to be treated._ A huge quantity of people fuel their identity from being miserable, submitted, enslaved, hurt and unhappy. Not that happiness in its own relativity can be stated as a goal to be reached and turned over into a lasting way existence. However, maybe the rule is _if i cannot sense myself, my existence in a happy way, then I take the shortcut and reaffirm me being alive by living in misery._ No hardship, no right live. Sounds crazy, but check yourself whether man truly is escaping suffering. I cannot other but doubt this paradigm.
I agree @farrider3339. And I think they choose to suffer because that's the only meaning in life they can find (even though life can also be equally meaningful without it). The thing is, these people think that a life without suffering is a meaningless life, that's why they prefer to suffer rather than continue living without any meaning at all. This is man's anxiety in life: to find meaning in order to just continue living, even if that meaning makes their life miserable (like pain, suffering, death, etc.).
