Aquinas' Virtue Ethics
In his natural law theory, Thomas Aquinas (ca. 1225-1274) argued that human persons can naturally know and do what is good.
However, he was also aware that because of certain limitations, such as erroneous judgments and inordinate desires, they will not always be able to do what is morally right in every situation.
Because of this, Aquinas emphasized the necessity of acquiring virtues to help them consistently pursue the moral good.
In this video, we will explore Aquinas’ virtue ethics and discover how virtues can assist us in pursuing what is good and, ultimately, in achieving happiness.

Thomas Aquinas (ca. 1225-1274) is generally considered as Western philosophy’s foremost natural law theorist. Critically inheriting the main traditions of natural law from the ancient world and carefully synthesizing them with Christian doctrine, his natural law theory has set the terms for subsequent developments and debates on the topic. In this video, we will explore Aquinas’ natural law the...

Hopefully everyone here can agree Postmodernism is ridiculous. I'm watching this on a laptop connected to the internet, in a home with heating/air conditioning, with a fridge full of food thanks to technological advancements.

Truly an extremely useful video. Thank you. I knew most of these concepts, but the video gave me a more precise language with which to explain it to others. Cheers.

Ironic that a robot is voicing this video
Sorry about that @gretamariotti3261. As of now we use free AI voiceovers because we're on a tight budget: we don't have the money to hire an audio editor nor to buy a sophisticated audio recording device. Rest assured the video's content was carefully researched and written by us, college instructors. 🙂 To help us improve our channel, please consider supporting us at Buy Me a Coffee (link in the video description). Thank you and all the best!
Good summary. Amazing that we as humans ever paid much attention to these low intelligent nihilists though. None of them can hold a candle to Kant.
Thank you! 🙂
I think it is smething that rimes with pissmodernism...
😆
Did the author that you show per slide are the ones who said it?
No, sorry, I don't think every thinker said what is found in the slide he appears.
AI voice
Yes, but the content is 100% human and researched. 🙂
Ain't that great to see my comment be taken out of view when you don't click on "newest first". Sure it was quite a long read, but it's not going to be seen by most users if it's going to be hidden away in a comment organization option that no one actively uses.

It is so educative
Thank you! 😊
Postmodernism is influenced by Nietzsche's revision of good/evil, Marx's ideological superstructure, Gramsci's rejection of cultural hegemony.
Yes, among others.

Lesson planning is even more difficult, when you are not actually a teacher. As an ESL tutor, it was a PAIN! 😂 now I'M SELLING ready-made lesson plans for beginner ESL tutors, simply because I spent a lot of time making these for myself and some of my tutor friends really loved them. I still enjoy watching videos like this for inspiration! ❤
I agree! 💯 All the best with your job and side hustle! 🙂
Thank you. May I ask, this is my topic in presentation. What is/are the best question that will catch the attention about this topic before talking about duty ethics?
You're welcome! You can use the moral case in the video, then ask your students what they're going to do if they were in the situation, and then talk about what a deontologist would do and why. 🙂
So, essentially is a return to the superstitions and magic of the pre-enlightenment age using today’s language and technology. It is a celebration of selfishness and impatience with the progress and misuse of science.
I'm not sure with the first part of your comment, but I do agree with the second one ("a celebration of selfishness and impatience"). Care to elaborate on the first part?

Now we know that this is actually true, but it does not really useful in solving social problems. Science already know that our reality/material is just waves, something we feel solid is not actually solid, it just a force that prevent us to go deeper into the field. Time is the same in quantum world, nothing looks like what we know previously. It's mind blowing for me to know that and it's fascinating in term of science and technology, but still useless in term of social and economic solution.
I understand your frustration. However, I think it's not the job of some sciences to solve social problems; or if ever they do help solve them in some way, I think their contribution is not so much on the social level but on an individual/personal level: they help a person understand something better, which in turn helps him improve his behavior, and ultimately have a positive impact in society.
I'm the 1k 😂🎉❤
Wow! Thanks! 😁
this all made sense thanj you very much!! ❤
I'm happy it was able to help. You're welcome! 😊
This Globalization, as described and otherwise, mostly benefits economics and finance industry. Since capitalism as practiced so far cannot survive anymore, this system produces increasing numbers of oligarchical structures and millionaires and billionaires. There are significant disadvantages for average people arising from globalisation, which constantly get talked down or getting belittled. A system founded on permanent growth is an abhorrent invention destroying literally everything and everyone involved into it. End of sermon.
I agree @farrider3339! Globalization is but an inevitable part of capitalism (after taking over the local economy, what's next? The world, of course!). Indeed, a system obsessed with permanent growth isn't sustainable at all. It's just not natural and normal! There should be a "point of enough", and from there sustainability should be the focus, not abnormal and unsustainable growth. End of second sermon. 😆

Certainly, Media influenced my view of reality and point of view by gathering and conveying plenty of information on a wide range of topics as well as make informed judgements and decisions, analyzing information whether credible or false so that we must be media literate in the 21st century
I agree; more than ever, everyone should be media literate.

@@languageandideasMale-Impregnation, one of the frequent tags in (mostly) MLM-Male Loving Male fanfiction. Basically, it’s when a man can get pregnant. You can refer to omegaverse (A universe with a secondary gender/sex) for biological explanations
No, I do not believe it is morally "wrong"; however, I do believe that it is something that you keep to yourself.
