Darkstalker was born in the brightest society of Pyrrhia and died as a monster. Qibli hatched in the darkest corner of the world and ended up a hero.
It’s kind of like sun and moon/ day and night.
Polar opposites, yet not so different.

This was very tempting for Qibli because throughout his life he was treated like he was nothing by his mother Cobra and his siblings he was also very ambitious and desired to fix the world so that would have been a hard decision to make but I’m glad he saw right through Darkstalker’s true intentions.
Here’s a disturbing question that’ll really make you think:
Do you think that if Qibli had a better childhood where his ego wasn’t squandered by constant scolding of being “ordinary” and “never amounting to anything” by his neglecting family… he would’ve turned out like Darkstalker?
Because that’s really the only big difference in their origin stories. They both have the brains and the ambitions to “fix” everything wrong with the world. The only difference is that Darkstalker’s peers inflated his ego by telling him he could, and Qibli’s peers demolished his ego by telling him he couldn’t.
Is Qibli’s tragic childhood that traumatized him for years… the one thing that saved him from following Darkstalker’s footsteps?
@@TrickyTalon23 That’s a really good question but I believe you’re right Qibli might have turned out like Darkstalker if he was raised differently even Darkstalker said something in the book that they are the same and both have the same desires and ambitions.
@@TrickyTalon23 if he was raised differently would he even be qibli? Would he be that smart if he hadn’t had to please his mother? Would he be that ambitious if everything was alright for him from the start? Would he still even go to jade academy or would he have become another of the talons of power? He might not even be loyal to thorn, as his mother would never have sent him to the outclaws. His childhood had a large impact on who he is and how he thinks, and I don’t think you can change that without making him a whole new character.
@@owlicorn114 something tells me that in either scenario, Qibli still has an incredibly sharp mind and becomes ambitious as heck. The only difference is how he would go through with it: like Darkstalker, or with more reserve?
This fandom desperately needs more Qibli-Darkstalker fanwork. The amount of psychological conflict between these two is extraordinary. There is so much morality questioning resulting from it that makes it so special. Qibli and Darkstalker could have turned out like each other if things were just a little bit different for them, and yet they stand on opposite sides of the same coin. This video demonstrates that perfectly. Thank you Fizzy!

Yes, Darkstalker and Qibli have a couple superficial similarities. They're both wannabe heroes who are also people-smart... So?
@@OwenOfElliott they also believed that they were capable of “fixing” the world if they were just given the chance to, which is where their similarities really stand out.
@@TrickyTalon23 that's what I meant by "wannabe heroes," sorry. And once again: so? It's really not an uncommon occurrence for both heroes and villains to be ambitious.
Qibli's desire to better the world around him isn't really comparable to Darkstalker's need to remake the world in his image.
There's also this weird subtext that one of the only differences between Qibli and Darkstalker is animus magic. Which imo is nonsense, Darkstalker was plenty corrupt long before he'd cast any spells.
Qibli saying “No.” to Darkstalker’s face is my favorite moment in the franchise :D
It was at that moment when Qibli officially became one of my favorite characters

Don't block me for this, but darkstalker was evil 1 second after he hatched, not the exact second he hatched
I mean... he was greedy and kept the tri moons to himself refusing to share with his sister and that seemed to resulted in disabling his sister- just because if he did share the moons she mighr have been the no. 1 threat to his power- something he saw before he hatched Thats glossed over way to often and kinda effed up.

At least he felt guilt after, but yeah, he was evil (maybe greedy is a better word to describe it) since hatch

Also, it's amazing to see a PMV depicting this moment and the dynamic between Qibli and Darkstalker in general. Their relationship with these themes of like, mutual ambition and moral greyness, was so cool and fascinating to me, and Darkstalker making this deal was really memorable to me. This was awesome a slight critique though nothing hostile is just that when he says golden it should have zoomed in on Qiblis earring also my favorite bit in the 2nd arc is just this whole talk or when Darkstalker just straight up says I can help you find which one of them you will get together with and indicates towards Qibli and Winter to moon
