    I live in Australia.. We call them Pekins and they are the most docile friendliest chickens. Really nice personalities. Easygoing little chooks. I love them. it's nice to see how much you love and care for these little fowl.

    Great video, you explained the breed very well. I have a 4 week old chochin chick. Since this is my first time caring for Cochins, I do not know if it it a hen or a rooster. Your video will help me a lot on caring for my Cochin!!

    I'm learning about cochin chickens because I have a cochin chicken named Nugget and I've never had the breed of chickens before and i don't know what color she is because she had light brown, white, and black on her.

    • @hubcityhomestead
      @hubcityhomestead  3 года назад

      There are so many colors. I would ask on the facebook group. Cochins International.

    how long does it take to the roster to be able to fertilize eggs ?

    • @hubcityhomestead
      @hubcityhomestead  2 года назад

      It is easiest for them when they are big enough to be able to mate with the hen. Around 4 months is for sure when they should be able to mate. Some breeds may do it before then.

    What other breeds can I keep with cochin bantams?

    • @hubcityhomestead
      @hubcityhomestead  2 года назад

      Silkies and almost any other bantam breed that is relatively docile. If you don't have a big rooster they can actually do fine with standard size chickens.

      Sorry I took so long to respond. If you are in the U.S. There are many hatcheries and breeders that sell these adorable little chickens. Internationally, I am not sure.

    I love your video. Sadly the Info about the cochins as the relatives to the bigger ones is wrong. As the bantams are not related to the Standard ones at all. The Standards are just human bred to just look like the original bantams. The bantams are the true form and way older.

    Chicken is the plural of Chick ...Oxen is the plural of Ox ...men, women, children and so on. Yes, it is illogical but then who said language should be logical.

    • @hubcityhomestead
      @hubcityhomestead  2 года назад

      English is one of the most illogical languages out there. Thanks for watching.

  • @Frog13799
    @Frog13799 Год назад

    You are incorrect in calling the breed a bantam cochin, it is a true bantam, not a miniaturised cochin, it has no corresponding large fowl breed. Its true name is a Pekin Bantam and it originated in China.
