    Thanks so much for this. I've been a type 1 for 30 years but am new to the cgm. This was so helpful.

      Thank you! I considered re-filming the video since the bleed happened, but I’m glad I decided to keep the original and it was helpful to you

    I have used free style and now use dexcom 7. After seeing this video I’m extremely happy I did not chose a Medtronic pump. That is way too many steps and honking huge to wear. Although I know Medtronic’s makes a good product but they really have to make the cgm process way less cumbersome.

      I agree. After switching back to Dexcom g6 from Medtronic, it’s been such a big shift (for the better)!

    I have to start using this sensor tonight and I’m terribly scared...how much pain is there inserting and wearing it.

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  4 года назад +5

      I was the exact same way. The sensor definitely looks scary but it is not bad at all in my opinion. The insertion is painless and sometimes I don't even feel it because the needle is so tiny! It hurts a lot less for me than inserting a pump site. The most difficult part about wearing the sensor I think is just that sometimes it gets a little irritated/itchy if you have it on for a while with tape! Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help!

    Normally I will not choose to start new sensor in the main machine part but insert the sensor ,machine will read and get the signal from sensor and put you straight away to select new sensor or re-connect. Am I right to do like this way ? Thanks

      If that method works for you I think you should be fine! I just start a new sensor because it’s pretty fast and the way I’ve always been doing it (:

    Hi, I am new to this whole process, just started last Thursday. Thank you for your tutorial.
    Were you scared the first time you did it by yourself? Do you put it on your stomach?

    • @Type1Mind

      Hi! Congrats on getting the new system, it’s really neat and I’m sure it’ll be fun to play around with to help with your diabetes management (: it was scary at the beginning but it has gotten a lot better! And yeah, I put it on my stomach! I actually would recommend inserting it onto your stomach for your first time because it’s a lot easier and hurts less than doing it on the arm (in my experience). Let me know if you have any other questions, good luck!

      Do you have a video on how to remove your sensor and how often do you have to charge the sensor?

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  4 года назад +2

      @@laurapatterson5925 To remove your sensor just take it off like you do with pumpsites! And I charge my sensor for about an hour after each session and before a insert a new site (so ~once weekly for a week). Medtronic advised me not to charge the sensor for more than two hours when I do charge!

    Any advice to overlap the 2 hours warmup between old and new sensors?

      Unfortunately there’s no solution to this - at least any that I know of

    Do you use the second tape oval Medtronic recommends if not why? I’m new to pump and cgm use. I also use the 670 with the guardian. But I’m very short 4” 11” and 100 lbs, I don’t know if I have enough of me to wear them anywhere but my abdomen.

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  4 года назад +3

      I only use the first tape because I find that the transmitter holds down well enough with the little strand of tape part of the sensor which prevents me from having to use a second piece! I know that a second piece secures it down better, however I have sensitive skin which gets irritated easily by tape so I personally like to use as little as possible!
      And to address the second part of your comment - yeah your arm probably won’t work for you! I’m a lot bigger haha so fortunately I have meatier arms which allowed me to insert there. I would suggest trying your lower back, that’s a spot I sometimes use. However, do note that that part of your body gets a lot of sweat so sometimes the sensor doesn’t work as well. I also know people who put the sensor on the back of their thigh, which I’ve tried before! It can be a little uncomfortable to sit down sometimes but that might work if you get tired of your abdomen! Let me know if you have any other questions, good luck!

      I always use both of the tapes because it holds it down between and also covers it up better when I’m in the shower

    what about the second adhesive patch? Do you not use one?

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  10 месяцев назад +1

      I apply a second patch if it's needed, when it's needed. I've found that it doesn't necessarily add that much additional securement for me

    I have read bad comments on about its compatibility with IOS and Androdid. Could you confirm its operation? Thank you!

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  4 года назад

      Unfortunately I don’t think I can accurately comment on that as I don’t use my phone with the guardian system. I only use my pump!

  • @timothywalker8674
    @timothywalker8674 2 года назад

    I rarely bleed when I insert the guardian sensor l been using the pump now for 3 years and the only places I use is the abdomen and the upper thigh. I couldn’t get the sensor to last long when I put it on my arm. I don’t see how anyone would have difficulty tapping it properly using the tape that comes with the guardian sensor on the upper arm. .

    • @Type1Mind
      @Type1Mind  2 года назад +2

      I honestly used to never understand why people put any diabetic related products on their arms… until I tried and it worked for me. I find that when I put my sensor on my abdomen or thigh it does not stay for the entire cycle (3-4ish days on average instead of 5-7!). This is because I run and sweat a lot and those places get sweaty and the sensor peels off a lot easier. I also find that I don’t have as many accidental ripping out if the sensor is on my arm than other spots! But, of course, everyone’s experience is different!

      Oh no sorry about that! I only put my sensor on my arms and I usually bleed once every 10-15 insertions. Sometimes that just happens for me because it'll hit a bad spot or something.

      I sweat a lot too. I live in southeast Alabama and the humidity is bad especially during the summer months. I take walks and I try to stay active. Can you put your sensor on your arm without assistance
