I have loved sigur ros for years and years! constantly listening to their music but somehow I never listened or watched this video before, and suddenly now it appears, just in the perfect time, making all my emotions coming along... This video is not far from what we feel when we lose someone we love! I lost my boyfriend some days ago, that's why I understand this girl feelings, even if she's not crying I know the pain is inside, it's difficult to explain, totally new sensations and feelings... sometimes I'm still thinking he is coming back home again, then I realize it'll not happen never again... Same happned to me. But with the song Illgresi. The song is REALLY beautiful but I had never heard it. I've known Sigur Rós since 2010, which I know isn't a long time since they have existed since the 90s but since 2010 I've been hearing them every day and I had never heard Illgresi until yesterday, they always surprise me.

@QtNerd absolutely hands down...I heard this song for the first time 2 years ago on the plane coming home.This album was part of the music for the inflight entertainment...It takes me somewhere.It does something to me...I get very upset...Crying comes over me without a direct source...The most powerfull song in the world

everyone probably knows this but I didn't...that Salka is Georg's step-daughter. Somehow knowing that changes the song a bit in my mind, and instead of the music seeming melancholy, now there seems a gentle, sweet innocence within this song...
It wasn't meant to be "no hope". The sadness was upfront, but once the young girl reconnected with her love, (the colored white mass) it was pure joy! Look at her face when the white mass engulfs her face on the ridge..pure joy). We never lose the ones we love, just look at the stars, that life energy is always present. I hope you will find it beautifully hopeful, and not beautifully depressing.

They have performed this song live in 2002 and 2003 (Salka is an older song that was played in concert) but till 2007 not released on a cd. I have not heard of a live version that has been recorded. They have their old set lists posted on their web site too.
That is not what I have heard from musicians that have been to Iceland. Not sure why you made the comment either. Sigur Ros is a treasure. Iceland is proud to call them one of her own.

I got this song from my Sigur Ros Hvarf-Heim cd. I checked itunes version of this cd, it is the same as mine.
