- This is a tour of my shack and includes many references to how I built it, the materials I used and the things I thought were and were not necessary. #hamradio #ham #amateurradio #amateurradıo #radioshack #icom #cw #morsecode #morse #qso #radioantenna #radiofrequency #rádio
Love your shack. One of the best tours I’ve watched!
Hey friend, I've got an old shed on the property and seeing you do this gave me a bunch of inspiration. Thanks, 73!
I remember as a kid back in the early sixties my neighbor had a ham shack deep in his back yard and I was always fascinated with it. I spent many interesting visits there and years later finally became a ham and always thought back to those days. Enjoy your great ham shack!
Great Story. 73, Jim
That's a very nice shack, inspiring. 73 de OO4M
Great video. Thanks
What a great video Jim, very inspirational, I would love to do that with my shed, you got my wheels turning!
Nice setup.
Awesome
Shack looks great and the beauty is the wife can’t bother you now
Enjoyed your shack tour. Nicely set up and I especially love the coffee machine. My shack is
on a 9' x 14' enclosed porch equipped with full hurricane shutters and a/c. Thanks again for a
great shack tour! N1PZB
Thanks Jim. Great advice. I’m an extra and a VE and my next goal is code. So this helps.
Awesome radio shack 👍👍

Thanks 👍 Jim W5FIV
Looks great! I have an outside building very similar to what you have. I have had my license for many years, but only got started recently after I bought a new IC-7300. I enjoyed viewing your ham shack. 73
You could do it. All it takes is a little time and patience... and another place to put all the "stuff" that's in the building now. 73, Jim
'73 N1TJM Exactly what I've wanted ... Thank you! As a no-code technician, I've always wanted to learn the code and set up an HF shack on a budget (I'm retired so, not much cash). I'm in CT, so not that far from Newington but they all use lots of expensive gear that is not right for me. Looking forward to your other videos!
Nice little shack there. Cozy and just what you need. And yes, no shack is complete without coffee!
Thank you Jim for your video ! Great radio shack !
Thank you for curing my insomnia. Also love your antenna layout!
Hi Jim, thanks for sharing your Ham shack, your passion and all the other usefull information. Greetings from the Netherlands :) Enjoy your hobby!
Nice shack. 73s M0CPU
great video! I love your comment about the licence. I'm a new ham. into my 70's and was 65 when I got my licence..I want to operate not build. I was an investment banker and what I know of electronics I learned to get the licence. So often when I have a question, the answer is "save your money and just build to" ! That isn't me. I want to get on the air, not spend weeks building stuff that doesn't work. Great job with this video.
Good recommendation by YT. I’ve seen mini PCs in shacks, but usually mini Macs so they can run MacLogger. I just checked out this BMAX and it is very inexpensive. Hopefully we can get a video on how you are using the computer and your logger software. Thanks for posting it. I like the shack!
Thanks for sharing! Jim
Do I look like grandpa talking to the young ones. Thanks for sharing
Wow, that's neat. Seems like a tiny house just the way I like it. Nice work sir. Keywords, simple, cozy but effective. 73....
Nice shack! Thanks for the video.
Good onya mate. I enjoyed your video and good to see that you made your radio shack your own by decorating it with the things you like! All the best!
Great shack. You should be proud, looks great. I do a little Morse Code Intercepting. I was a Interceptor in the Army in the 80s. Moving south so it will be interesting what I can pick up there. Keep up the good work.
Looks nice! Thanks for sharing. Suggest you consider video surveillance and alarm coverage, if you have not already done so. Nice thing about using the house - it uses the same as alarm that might be installed.
Great suggestion! I have done that already. 73, Jim
Bob KC3PRB Really enjoy your program. I too know very little about electronics. 73
Hi Jim, I'm a recent new subscriber to your channel. I subscribed because of your video on CW and learning morse code. I have been working on learning it myself. My dad was in the Navy and I have a friend or two that are curmudgeon sailors as well.
Great shack, l know the wife thing. I'm gmrs/ cb operating fr the laundry
Hang in there brother!!! 73, Jim
Nice Job!
Sweet‼️
I really like your shack. 73, Michael N4MJR

Very nice video Five, well done on the shack. I’ll look for you on the air. 73.
On CW look for me on any active band at .053. That's my birth year so I try to be as consistent as possible where I hang out so friends like you can find me. I love to rag chew! 73, Jim
looks great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great shack plenty of space👍
Yes indeed. Thanks. 73, Jim
Really enjoyed the video, great job on the shack, neighbor. K5WCF (Jacksonville, Tx.)

Very nice! Cheers from VK.
Thank you! Cheers!
Your Ham Shack looks amazing! I have also been working on my Ham Shack here in North Carolina. Hope to have a QSO one day with you on HF. 73! KN4ZOO
It would have been cool if you vlog your build, great job 👍
You're right. I wish I had thought of that at the time. 73, Jim
Hi there . I like your video on your radio shack. My name is Paul de HS0ZLQ G0MIH. I would like to know how you get on with your full size g3zrv antenna.
Best 73.
Paul
Someday I will have a nice shack like that
I'm certain you will. Just have to put your mind to it like anything else worthwhile you accomplish in life. Good luck and if I can help just email me! 73, Jim
Nice! Did you mention how you brought power into the shed? 73 de K2CJB
The shed was a tool shed when we bought this house and it already had power. It had a table saw and several other power tools that drew quite a few amps. The power was run underground from the house to the shed and directly into the shed by a master electrician. He was the owner's father. The box comes into the shack near the the floor. The breakers are in the house in the garage. I just dressed up that and everything else inside and this could easily pass as a home office. Jim
@@w5fivtexasradiohow did you ground everything? Run ground back to the house powering it, etc? Trying to learn HAM and right now grounding everything properly has been the most daunting to me
What's the farthest contact you have made with the nvis?
How many square feet is the room? Would you prefer more space?
- de KM5Z, Dallas (for now...)
Room is 10x10. ALWAYS could use more room. I use it for radio, my model building and my RUclips office.
With a radio inside, is it then a radio-shack?
Talk about your antenas . 73 PU5OLV
Hi Oliver. Thanks for the comment. I'll tell you all about my antennas soon. Jim
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW! GET AWAAAY FROM THE WIFE!
yes i get that moaning off my sister lol m7byf
Awesome Space. I would like a space outside as well.
Maybe with an old cot to take a nap in on the weekends. LOL.
