As a guitar player who just got a drums set these videos help a lot
So my neighbors are very educated in blastbeat, especially early in the morning on Sundays.
I love this, it's like downpicking on guitar but for drumming. This and the ramones hi hat technique are my favorite

I have trouble keeping control of my foot. I do heel up, but find that after a few seconds I lose control of my foot and it jsut does it's own thing and feels like I've lost control of it. Even at speeds like 120
That just means you gotta build up your stamina more! Practice it a lot at slower speeds like 80, 100 for a while and then try 120 again and it will likely be smoother

Maybe you have balance issues, or just poor resistance
rest and bump it up 10 bpm
I think only genre that uses blast beats at 170 bmp or less is skate punk that I know of.
And occasionally black metal

Don’t know a ton about the genre but Charles Bronson is sick
Check out Regional Justice Center. They’re a newer powerviolence band and their drummer is so badass
@@PrettyCoolDrumShow Regional Justice Center is sick, they played a few shows in my town a few years ago. I’d also recommend Despise You. Westside Horizon is easily on my top 10 favorite albums. Worse is also a good pv band too! Also Zulu !

Does Left For Dead count as a powerviolence band? I guess they’re more straight forward hardcore/punk but I love them

Not sure! But it’s not half time, it’s matching the kick drum
It's because they're accenting the upbeats on the ride
@@kaylons oh yeah you're right, weird to accent it in slow tempos like the video since it's not needed to play slow, but if he likes it that way what can I say
@@kremmidis_773 many many ways to do blast beats! jazz gave us blast beats so hardcore could run, and from there... metal took off! there are no rules, really! only those to break!
