1) Before running the grinder to make batter, you must run it for 30mins with only water or oil to clean the stones from dust and debris. 2) I cannot stress this enough, never grind Urad dal and idli rice together, never!!! They must be done separately, starting with urad dal.

The product is not working properly. Purchase a brand new grinder and just left is waste of money.

Its 2 Lt capacity. What I said was 500Gm dry urad dal, after grinding it becomes around 2 Kg. Perfectly fine dosa for 4 adults 2 kids for 4 days
